Or have another couple of strikers that aren't inferior lumps of the same ilk. But yeah, as said, I'm pro-Hanson but there's no possible response on the fitness issues. Everyone is bang on the money in that we can't get him onto the pitch as much as we need to and that alone is a strong enough case to not offer him a deal next season.
I wonder if anyone knows if he's interested in doing his badges? Could be a savvy joint role for a season, if so. I don't really know what his deal is off the pitch, can't remember hearing him interviewed and don't really know if he's supposed to be a good egg in the changing room, etc.
I know there’s an element of “don’t throw the baby out with the bath water”, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if the whole squad got punted over the next few weeks. I can’t remember any chronics being accommodated in Hurst’s first spell, and think being reliable (as in likely to be fit) is one of his first requirements. I honestly thought, and hoped, Hanson would do better for us but for some reason refs tend never to give him clear fouls when he’s being pulled and pushed all over. Probably because of his size so refs think he’s going down easily, but he seems to be wrestled for at least a pen a game and we don’t get anything.

just a thought - Bennett returns to Brizzull, Green & Hanson released. Rose & Williams are allowed to leave. I estimate that to be half a million plus off the wage bill. Now ,bearing that in mind, just think about what those 5 have achieved for us, in totality ,this season then imagine what sort of players we should be getting in return for £500,000

I think Hanson has been a good player and still has strengths, but with injury after injury it could be that his body is telling him that for his own future health he should retire now. Perhaps he should listen.

Rose and Williams won't just leave without us paying any of the money we owe them unfortunately. However we need to come e to an arrangement with them, as I don't think there is any point in us having them on the books. Our position couldn't be any more desperate but Hurst would rather not bother having them in the squad. So we have to pay them off and try and do better with out resources that are left. Like you say Hanson and green leaving frees up one hell of a lot of money for conference level. Scannell has to go too. Maybe someone will loan Rose scannell or Williams off us if that makes more sense to us financially. Personally I think Gibson will be loaned out rather than paid off. probably Jackson too.

Likely that relegation clauses will lessen the cost of us getting rid of the deadwood so I wouldn't overly worry about the cost. That presumes of course that our competent board would foresee such possibilities 👀👀

Rather than released, I think Gibson and Jackson will get a run of games next season

Hurst does not seem keen on Gibson at all frankly I'd be amazed if he's here next year.

Gibson hascalready returned from loan and Hurst has said he won't play him. In fact on Saturday he decided he would rather have a space on the bench empty than take him to Oldham. He won't be around next season I'm sure, whether that's loan or payoff
