Think there’s some harsh assessments, thought he was good in his first season, he was winning the headers won stats for the league by a country mile. However, we don’t have the attacking runners or another striker to compliment him, so he’s been largely redundant this season when he’s played. Obviously had his injuries too, but he covers a hell of a lot of ground when he’s played, and keeps running the full 90 so his legs haven’t gone. I suspect yesterday’s injury is the result of the relentless fixture schedule which naturally places players at more risk of injury but especially when I players thrown into it right off the bat of recovering from an injury.

I wouldn’t be opposed to signing him for another year on less money, him or LJL would be good options in the conference but we really need a goal scorer to go alongside them.

Our one time parachute payment cannot be squandered on non playing non scoring strikers! Hanson does some stuff well and puts in a shift but he is certainly past it and incapable of playing 30 odd games a season, not to mention he has a poor goal scoring return nowadays anyway

The best place for him is the job centre and a new career.1st season with us played 32 games scored 8 goals. This season played 23 games scored 2 goals, 55 games and 10 goals (source this site) and he's supposed to be a striker!

He is a yesterday man with his best time being at Bradford, then you have his injury problems. Not worth keeping and not a patch on keeping the ball like LJL.

I saw him go off in the first half of a match at Carlisle a couple of seasons ago and did think then - if that’s hamstring you are finished (as I was). He has done well to stay on the payroll (for himself) but Town have suffered for not identifying this loss early enough.
All the best James Hansen

We might've identified the loss 18 months ago, but he was under contract.

Actually it was stated as calf in the press - ever since then the chap has struggled to appear in the side.
Someone gave him a contract that hasn’t really helped Grimsby Town - it seems to me - in conjunction with other elderly players.

I think his presence will be missed defensively, especially for set pieces.

I remember back at the start of the season I was bold enough as to say both Green and Hanson were past it and would be a liability this season. When I said it, I was lambasted left, right and centre for suggesting such a thing. Now it seems most people are saying much the same.

Green was a major liability last season so it hardly takes a crystal ball to predict he would be likewise this season.

I supposed Hanson did start brightly at first but he was a major liability too wages to performance wise last season also.

I don't think Hanson has been too bad when he has played, he has offered more than Green overall since they have both been here, however given the high wage Hanson will no doubt be on I don't think he has offered good value for money.
