A player who played for Scunthorpe United in their relegation season 2021-22 out of the Football League is all we need to help us ward off another relegation threat out of the Football.League. When are people going to wake up to our needs in the Football.League?
We was told Jon Nolan was crap, we was told John Mcatee was crap, we was told Craig Disley was past it. Look at the countless number of players that have left here we thought were crap and gone on to be good players elsewhere. Football is very opinion based and let’s not write him off before he’s even kicked a ball. Hull fans say he’s a very good player so i’m optimistic.

Footballers tend to be better players at 21 than they were at 19. It's why it is so unusual for teenagers to succeed at a young age in the professional game.

So why have a Championship club signed him?

I doubt it was his fault.

He was on loan to Scunthorpe from.Hull... If you believe inexperienced players like Wood would be of any benefit to a struggling 2nd division club then you are in clould cuckoo land.and it is thinking like that what has got us into this mess in the first place.

We went down with Jay Matete in the side, he almost single handedly kept us up. Would you say no to him....

I understand peoples instant concern here, but championship level players would of struggled to do well in that team.... Artell obviously likes him, and that's enough for me

As stated we had Jay Matete in the side that went down and he was the best midfielder in L1 last season. Terry Taylor was also in that side and he's now one of the best midfielders in L1 but no you're right, signing experienced players like Danny Rose, Filipe Morais and Stefan Payne worked so well last time

Look, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to not be overwhelmed by the prospect of a 21-year old loanee whose main football league experience to date came in that retched Scunthorpe side of a couple of years ago. I get it, on the spectrum of signings that would be instantaneously exciting, it’s fairly low down on the scale, but as others have pointed already, so were Jon Nolan, Jay Matete and John McAtee. Of course, those examples don’t offer a cast-iron guarantee that the lad will be a success here, but they do underline how foolish it is to reach strong, impassioned opinions before the player has kicked a ball (or in this case, before his signing has even been announced). Likewise, let’s not pretend that there aren’t positives to be drawn from Wood’s embryonic career to date. He made his professional debut for Hull a week after turning 19, and has been on the periphery of a Championship side having a good tilt at promotion for the Premier League this season, and who have just signed a Champions League player in his position of choice. He’s no Touray Sisay; he has a pedigree and CV to suggest he’s at least worth giving a chance before leaping to conclusions.
