Says the head coach comment is a bit of a red herring and we won't be looking for a DOF just yet, but it's a path they want to take eventually.
We've already got some impressive people throwing their hat into the ring, which is good, and they are not ruling out Davies and Pearson if they get off to a flier, so sounds like it will be a while before we know anything for sure.

A good interview to steady the ship. I think he mentioned 2 weeks or thereabouts so it'll be Morecambe at home or FGR away before the new man takes over.
He made positive statements and believed in the quality of the squad. Time will tell and a comprehensive victory at Slough will give Davies and Pearson a chance to claim the hot seat.

Oh well, as the wife often tells me, I was completely wrong! although a massive fan of 1878 I can see where you're coming from. Have to say I was disappointed in that -hoped they'd go down the sporting director route and also thought they'd have been far more pro active. One could argue it's the Fenty approach, with a bit of expert outside help. Hopefully the interview was a bit of a smokescreen and they're actually much further down the track. Does beg the question as to whether we will actually end up with another old name off the managerial merry go round

Nobody at the club will tell us exactly when the decision to sack PH was made, but it was clear that Doncaster was the last chance saloon for PH. JS intimated that they had looked at the dour results for a while, so Saturday was not a knee jerk solution. Whatsmore 2 very astute successful businessmen will already have formed some ideas about what they want a new manager to do, and possibly a list of targets. Today not only out of work managers are considered but those, and there assistants who are in work.

That's not exactly cutting edge though is it DB? He says a lot without ever coming to any sort of conclusion. We keep saying we are going to do things differently but it all sounds so familiar.

Refers to letting Paul and Chris of their relieve of duties , before returning to their families in Sheffield an Birmingham. Think the directors would like to appoint capable managers closer to home

Fair enough interview. For those that criticise and specify that we should have a target in mind a reality check, teams way bigger than ours have really struggled to target managers as jason says it is a process and in the context of a football manager a first time process for him. Also, even if the target was in mind, why on earth would you disclose this? There are four or five teams in league two looking for managers and we are not the best proposition. The timing was about right to me and I suspect that the appointment will be tricky. Half of the support will want a more experienced manager and some will want an up-and-coming manager. Utm

I hope not, promoting from within over the years has hardly been a success at GTFC.

We definitely have a shortlist of managers, they said it's been a process and part of that process is identifying people to replace. If they didn't think there was better available, Paul would still be in the job.

I wouldn't read too much into the timeframes quoted. What he has done is made clear that nobody should expect any updates imminently so it takes the pressure off and removes expectations of immediate announcements. I don't think they'll envisage us being managerless for 4 weeks and I also think they'll already have a pretty good idea of how they rate Davies and Pearson and how viable an option that is.

Going from the interview - directors are not concerned about Davies and Pearson being in charge of the team for a few weeks- at least they will be on the bus for the duration and receiving feedback - inputting information from/ to the players. Might lead to a healthy team spirit 🤞

Whilst JF would have made his mind up by a few choice shouts from the crowd (mercurial springs to mind) these guys seem to be measured. Doncaster match was just the last straw. Something has to be.

With a fixture list of Slough Forrest Green , Morecambe and Sutton over the next month they have given a big chance to BD & SP. With the normal manager gone bounce I wouldn’t be suprised if we win all four. That in itself may be a problem because I can’t believe appointing such an inexperienced pair can really be the promised step forward

Before you get confident about beating Morecambe, check the League 2 table first……

I hope not. The last time we appointed an inexperienced internal candidate in a relegation battle we got Neil Woods. We all know how that ended. I would prefer an experienced EFL manager.

He clearly states the 'director' model is a plan for the future, trying to do it mid-season surely would be too much? I'm sure this will be a conversation they will have with potential candidates so they know what the plan is moving forward.

Good interview that. I for one don't mind about them taking their time a bit. When we lost Hurst last time I recall in his final game when, officially anyway, nothing had been decided either way we lost (or drew maybe, we didn't win). Immediately people were panicking saying we need to get the decision made asap one way or there other etc. Well husrt went and the manager that quickly followed (Bignot) was inferior. I would rather we had negotiated longer with Hurst to keep him (if that was still feasible which it probably wasn't) or taken longer to make the appointment to try and make a better job of it.
The main point I am making is that the period between managers is usually brief compared to the period with the following manager, so if it takes a week or two extra to do all the due diligence to try and get a better appointment I am fine with that, as that's more important. Of course nothing is guaranteed but it's best not to rush into an appointment just because of one lost opportunity for 3 points, the calibre of the leader in charge for the next 18 months or so, or whatever the average is, carries more weight than that.

Everyone seems happy with this interview however it blows out the water 1878 are a step up from Fenty in having a plan when they pull the trigger. I honestly thought these guys would have there target primed and ready but nit looking that way? I hope they get this right because dragging it out for weeks if results don't improve will see us right in the pit of misery.dilly dilly

AGREED. SLEEPY JO appointing a manager for years to fit a plan (collective) what the hell does that mean . What plan. 6 weeks from the chop according to the previous update from Sleepy JO. Or even one game away if you accept a win kept Dep Doig and Hurst in post. Blow smoke up the fans proverbial by all means, but the paint will soon wear off with this nonsense.

Another interview where nothing much is said other than jargon. We're not going down the director of football route, yet. They have well defined criteria for what they're looking for in the next manager, but not a hint of what the criteria are. They've clearly held discussions about the situation for a while, and came to the strange decision that if we didn't beat Doncaster they'd sack the manager there and then, but haven't put any thought into what comes next. Yet most people are still crediting them as oracles that have planned and strategised every small detail of everything. It's absolutely no different to what we've been doing my entire life except we're now spending loads of money to be excrement. The hint that they'd appoint Davies and Pearson in a relegation fight scares me that they've not learnt how big a mistake that will be from Fenty's era.

That interview told of what JS wanted you to hear. Doncaster was not a decision made on a whim but decided earlier. JS & AP have employed many people in their businesses, sacked a few, and replaced them. To use their words, they want to improve, year on year, so they have something/someone to improve on Hurst. Who, I don't know so time will tell.

I hope not. The last time we appointed an inexperienced internal candidate in a relegation battle we got Neil Woods.
We all know how that ended. I would prefer an experienced EFL manager.
I'm convinced in the right circumstances Woodsy would've been an excellent football league manager. He was just left with a pack of girl privates for his first job. He got them going that season just too late. And in the conference he was sacked with us just outside the play offs. I'm not advocating a promotion from within but I think the circumstances are very different. Whoever comes in is inheriting a team of committed professionals.

Promoting Woods from within was a bit different though as even back then he was a pretty experienced coach even if it was with the youth.
Davies and Pearson have less experience combined at this point. Honestly I don't think that is the way to go.

If you watched Danny Cowley on Sky Sports last night he indicated that 3 clubs were in contact with him and that we were one of them, the notion that we don't have a plan is mind boggling.

Especially when Stockwood literally says they’ve “been working with 21st Group & [Jennings] over the past few weeks to think about what the plan needed to be both in terms of the range of options they will have and also how they go about running that process”. Then mentioned that there’s a process twice in the following 30 seconds.
Some people just hear what they want to hear.
Supposedly this is no different to what we’ve done previously - such as appointing Holloway after a 3 hour chat in a chip shop, or giving Slade a job whilst Bignot was still in charge and then coming up with some bullshít story about him being up a mountain when he got the call.

2nd this. Regardless of what people think about the sacking, the chair is very open and clear and tell the fans as much as he needs to (and sometimes a little bit more). We used to always be left out in the cold wondering wtf is going on. For what it's worth I think it shouldn't matter who's in charge this weekend as aslong as boys turn up and perform well they SHOULD win regardless if who's stood on the sidelines. I'll start to be concerned if we haven't started to interview by this time next week

That interview is exactly what it should’ve been at this point, a PR masterclass. Say a lot without really saying much. A skill our former owner crassly lacked in. All that was needed was to quell the talk around the ‘head coach’ and possible director of football role, give a brief overlay of the next steps and leave it there.

Cant say that I think this is very fair or even accurate. What’s the jargon you’re referring to?

He probably isn’t used to things being done in a professional manner. Add to that, he’s not going to turn and tell Ben and Shaun that they don’t stand a cat in hell’s chance, is he?

Poppycock , we had staff with many hats ,not just pretty faces , making mountains out of molehills ; throwing the baby out with the bathwater up a gumtree ! Don't forget the orange! All the post/rants(half-cut?) on here were golden to , pretty funny a shame they are seemingly gone - a bit of a comedy character until things took there darker turns . Stockwood talks calmy and impressively , although not as entertaining as our former primary funders 'jargon' for me . Tickled pink

Seen a lot of conversation on twitter by Bradford fans on a “lack of communication” from their club surrounding their managerial appointment.
Out of interest, when would you next expect to hear from Stockwood?
When would be too soon? When would be too long?

If we were to lose the next 3 or 4 games that would be too long.

Interesting. If there’s no significant movement, I’d like to hear something at the back end of next week.

It’s clear that Jason speaks fluent BS whereas Fenty spoke his own version of Russian .Whether there is any difference in outcome beyond that the jury is still out for me.

I think the change in terminology needed clarifying. He's done that and stated the process will take a few weeks. Unless we have appointed someone, I think it's probably prudent to hear from him again before the fans forum.

Sorry, that’s absolutely my mistake. We’re immensely fortunate with how transparent our chairman is. However, due to the backlash of the Bradford fans. I was posing the question “how often would you expect to hear from a chairman” during a period of transition. Quite rightly, they’re frustrated with the almost defending silence almost a month down the line!
