It was quite well advertised. I enquired but having take a new role recently and the job advertised by the club being part time it wasn’t worth me applying.

Pete has worked locally at a special school and has a career in safeguarding roles.

Essentially it’s about ensuring staff at the cub are aware of safeguarding concerns, know how to report them, how the club deals with them, DBS checks, safeguarding training, best practice and the likes…

Massively important role, especially with the expanding remit of football clubs.

considering the rise of grooming scandals and abuse of young people in sports these roles are becoming more and more important in establishing safeguarding of young people and a chain of reporting incidents that can be followed up. I'll take a bunch of boomers being offended by this as support for coaches grooming kids which honestly doesn't surprise me at this point. Some of you need to learn the wild west of the 60's and 70's are over and it's not acceptable to ignore it anymore.

It's vital in any walk of life especially when there is children involved. Safeguarding is rammed down throats of people working in education. It's the biggest subject when Ofsted visit a school and you must know what it means and read the 30 page document every year as it continues to be tweaked and updated.

To cut a long story short his role will be to check everyone working with children within gtfc have an up to date DBS, he will be the go to guy if any players, staff or family members have concerns etc.

Bless…I guess we’ll just ignore the relevance and importance of these roles and let the pervy coaches and the letchy staff members crack on, ya know, like they did in yesteryear.,.keep burying that head.

‘are’ children involved . Also I’m pretty sure you are politically incorrect to use the term ‘he’ for a role that may be given to a female. Just saying.

In this context he is fine given Pete clearly identifies as a male and uses male pronouns…
