Good to see Hunt start.

No Green or Morris, has Hurst said anything about injury’s? Think we will miss Morris and his passing but saying that Hunt coming in doesn’t exactly weaken that aspect!

Looks like the same shape as Newport and Gillingham.

Morris injured from Tuesday, straight swap with Hunt.

No full backs but two CBs on the bench is an odd choice, maybe gives us the option to change shape? Hope to see JMD given a chance.

Is Battersby injured? Suspect Pearson is on the bench as he's thought to be the best non-keeper keeper

Who's on the bench?

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Colchester have the ball in the back of the net but Nouble offside. Defence was all over the place though so bit of a warning to sort themselves out

We're too narrow defensively. If we keep letting Colchester wip in crosses like we have its not going to end well

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Richardson is our only player so far today who seems capable of driving forward effectively with the ball. Everyone else can't get it under control on the hard pitch, or just takes the safe option of passing sideways or backwards instead of trying to make anything happen.

My lad set it up (IPTV) for me, no idea how he did it but great being able to watch all the games that I can't make.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Cut and paste from Tuesday night I am afraid. Pretty poor passing again in the final third. Its not really hard to see why Keirnan was surplus to requirements at Walsall despite honest endeavour - for me there are better options on the bench. Bit more quality and we can win this.

We've been the better team but lack that cutting edge in the final third. Too many stray passes or bad touches in promising positions.

Efete has been atrocious again, he’s not coping with this step up and given Cropper was a big part of our play-off campaign, he has to come in.

We’ve offered very little again, we’re solid enough but we’ve only got one player on the pitch genuinely capable of scaring teams in Richardson

Same as Tuesday - pretty rubbish.  We just don’t seem to threaten at all.

How Kiernan manages to make the 11 each week is beyond me.  Hurst obviously plays him because he does a lot of running about, but absolutely zero end product.

Efete has lost his mojo or league too is too tough for him.

To be quite honest I don't think Efete is that good a defender. Several times against Gillingham he was either out of position or ball watching. I prefer Cropper as a defender but he's not quite as good as Efete going forward. His plus is that amazing throw which is just as good as a cross or a corner.

Efete has been atrocious again, he’s not coping with this step up and given Cropper was a big part of our play-off campaign, he has to come in.

We’ve offered very little again, we’re solid enough but we’ve only got one player on the pitch genuinely capable of scaring teams in Richardson

You say that, yet we’re not conceding. His job first and foremost is defending. He’s doing that

Cut and paste from Tuesday night I am afraid. Pretty poor passing again in the final third. Its not really hard to see why Keirnan was surplus to requirements at Walsall despite honest endeavour - for me there are better options on the bench. Bit more quality and we can win this.

The two down our right are again dross, most of there threat has come from that side.
Much like Tuesday Richardson our most likely, CBs good again.
Holohan looks better with Hunt in there, Harry has been Harry.
Need changes for the second half.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

He looks our weakest defender as well though, so if you’re hampering us going forward and you’re often out of position defensively, what exactly are you offering?

Very flat and difficult to watch. Not much else worth watching at the moment except perhaps Lincoln, Mansfield or Barcelona on La Liga HD.

Disagree on our weakest. His pace gives us something the other 3 dont.

Going forward he looks devoid of confidence, i was at Orient, and he was playing like a right winger, since then attacking wise he’s gone backwards

Don't see what Kiernan offers at all. Works hard to get back defensively but he's very poor on the ball. Don't like to be too critical but he appears to be a downgrade on Sousa IMO.

I think we need to have one of our wide players as a more creative/technical player. Clifton and Kiernan are both runners and might be a better bet when we don't have as much possession and counter attack teams. But for me one of them should give way for a player with more ability on the ball. Obviously Clifton would be the one to keep on out of the two.

I’d agree, our wide men work hard and do contribute but as wide men going forward they’re at times almost technically inept.

Kiernan and Sousa are one in the same to me…

Ref is absolutely garbage. Booked Efete for a tackle where he cleanly won the ball in the first half and is now letting Colchester get away without a caution for hauling Richardson down on the counter.

On Tuesday both full backs tucked in and left wide players time and space to control and look up. We tend to leave wingers unmarked as if to say go on then cross it, because we can defend crosses all day.

Would be amazed if Hurst brings him on with the scores level. Can only see him getting 10 minutes max if Colchester go ahead.

The Town fans are in good voice, sounds like 589 town voices are better than 2,500+ of their fans.

Another one for the Clifton detractors

Quite right.
Not long ago, people were questioning him being part of the squad.

30 seconds per sub plus a couple head injuries and the goal celebration its not that far off really

1:1 ?

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Was hopeful rather than expectant today, but, once again, what a shift everyone from max crocombe to Taylor and of course our noisy bunch behind the goal, have put in. The ref has been somewhat, erm, below par, but let’s not take that away from a great performance

FT...Colchester 0-1 Town

We're 1 point outside of the play-offs with a game in hand now, looks like we are the real deal.

Good win that

Was hurst shushing their fans at the end?

Smith MoM but also felt taylor did really well today, got so many flick ons and never really misplaced any of his passes to keep attacks going. Game management really good by the whole team. And cliftons goal was classy

Great win. Much better second half from almost everyone - in particuarly midfield. Smith MOM by a million miles. Special mention to Richardson who when he gets use to the rigours of League football could be quite a decent player.

Maybe Hurst was getting stick off the home crowd for his ill fated stint at Ipswich.  Col U fans see the Tractor Boys as local rivals, although I doubt that's reciprocated as Ipswich's grudge match is The Old Farm against Naaaridge.

It matters not - Hursty can shush them to his heart's content for all I care.

Another great result on the road for the Mariners. UTM

We’re a cracking away side aren’t we, looked very comfortable second half without again creating all that much.

Great goal from Clifton and a cracking ball from Taylor. Holohan much improved and Hunt made a difference, Smith MOM.

I do still want to see us offer a bit more going forward as I think that’ll make us genuine play-off contenders.

A brief view of Maher was enough to see what a quality signing he’s going to be . When he gets a break as cb he’ll be hard to displace I think
