I was sat at early club this morning at work and was curious about our finances. For the next hour I then tried to guesstimate and calculate what Grimsby could possibly expect through ticket sales, club shop sales and match day sale (ie beer food etc)
I calculated in an average of 6,000 people.

I then went on to work out a guesstimate and calculated what I think we would have been the figures if we hadn't had all these changes. I did this on figures based on 3,500 people. (owners, food outlets etc)

Its quite scary the difference!

Obviously they're only guesstimate but the total figures had just short of £2 million over the season!

Minus any changes over the last 6 months, I'd have been amazed if we got anywhere near 3,500 going through the gates.  Even for the bigger games.  People had simply had their lot with the club and apathy was setting in.  I wasn't prepared to renew my season ticket or even bother to raise more than an eyebrow at the fortune of a club that had long since distanced itself from my heart.

Relegation only hurt because I knew that the club was heading for a brighter future and it felt very much like the set-back could have been avoided.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone in feeling this way and I would genuinely have been surprised if we had shifted 1000 season tickets had the old guard remained.

Working out the figures is always completely subjective, there's no real way of knowing what the breakdown of the 'new' fans would be like and how much extra they would spend.  Regardless, it's increased income all round.  I will happily die on the hill that says there's no chance we would have been looking at sell outs in the home end without the changes over the summer.

At the Wrexham game I was told that the ticket sales that weren't forecast all but paid for the work done to remove the metal barrier at the bottom of the Upper and replace it with the perspex sheeting.  Bloody good going if that is the case.

But then why was he sat there? Surely he should have been on the way to work? Or is he actually a school aged child? Assuming they are a 'he'.

There's too many questions around this post. We demand answers........

Edit: maybe they're a teacher...

I've estimated they have budgeted for a 4000 gate, based on 3000+ season ticket holders and an average of 200-250 away fans (big 4/5 will be 80% of that). I reckon that if the dover gate is 5k plus then the finances are up by 150-200k

Its 2021 you know. My better half manages 3 child care settings containing 2 nurseries and 3 before/after school clubs and guess what! She had some men working for her in child care.

I checked Lukeo's figures and found that his abacus is counting short to the extent of £3- 12s and 6pence
