I was sat at early club this morning at work and was curious about our finances. For the next hour I then tried to guesstimate and calculate what Grimsby could possibly expect through ticket sales, club shop sales and match day sale (ie beer food etc) I calculated in an average of 6,000 people.
I then went on to work out a guesstimate and calculated what I think we would have been the figures if we hadn't had all these changes. I did this on figures based on 3,500 people. (owners, food outlets etc)
Its quite scary the difference!
Obviously they're only guesstimate but the total figures had just short of £2 million over the season!

Minus any changes over the last 6 months, I'd have been amazed if we got anywhere near 3,500 going through the gates. Even for the bigger games. People had simply had their lot with the club and apathy was setting in. I wasn't prepared to renew my season ticket or even bother to raise more than an eyebrow at the fortune of a club that had long since distanced itself from my heart.
Relegation only hurt because I knew that the club was heading for a brighter future and it felt very much like the set-back could have been avoided.
I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone in feeling this way and I would genuinely have been surprised if we had shifted 1000 season tickets had the old guard remained.
Working out the figures is always completely subjective, there's no real way of knowing what the breakdown of the 'new' fans would be like and how much extra they would spend. Regardless, it's increased income all round. I will happily die on the hill that says there's no chance we would have been looking at sell outs in the home end without the changes over the summer.
At the Wrexham game I was told that the ticket sales that weren't forecast all but paid for the work done to remove the metal barrier at the bottom of the Upper and replace it with the perspex sheeting. Bloody good going if that is the case.

I've estimated they have budgeted for a 4000 gate, based on 3000+ season ticket holders and an average of 200-250 away fans (big 4/5 will be 80% of that). I reckon that if the dover gate is 5k plus then the finances are up by 150-200k

Its 2021 you know. My better half manages 3 child care settings containing 2 nurseries and 3 before/after school clubs and guess what! She had some men working for her in child care.

Man lectures another man about sexual equality by using the phrase "my better half", a phrase used by men in a patronising manner towards their female partners and is effectively a pat on the head for the 'little woman'.

That extra T in ‘get’ is spreading. I first saw it on the London Pelham WhatsApp group during the Wrexham game and it’s now already spread to the SW. 😆 ‘Gett the absolute fúck in!’

When 1878 took over they more than likely never expected in their wildest dreams of 3,000 ST holders; so that wouldn't have been in their budget, probably 2,500 at most. Looking at previous gates and the downside of the previous regime about 500/1,000 extra on the day. Say a good crowd for budget of 3,000/3,500. Every extra fan is worth about £20+ to the club per match, 1,000 @£20 per match is £20,000 X 20 home games is £400,000 per season. So a 5,000 gate would bring in at least £40,000 and you now looking towards £1 million for the season. I'm not having a go at you or Luke but trying to be realistic on the extra income. Any which way we want to look at figures there will only be one winner, 1878, and we know they want to invest in the club. So we all win.

How I worked it out per person is an average £15 match ticket... £10 on drink/food (some spend £0 some spend £30+) and over the season £50 in the club shop average.

Although Forza might be optimistic on the budget figure of a 4000 gate, it means he’s being more cautious on the additional income Dave. Safer to go with his figure ironically!

on a school night?? wow! based the 4000 on the fact that within a couple of weeks 1878 had had a massive response to the questionnaire. The season tickets were issued soon after they could probably extrapolate from the figures and sales graphs that they were on for 3000

Man lectures another man about sexual equality by using the phrase "my better half", a phrase used by men in a patronising manner towards their female partners and is effectively a pat on the head for the 'little woman'.
Better half has no patronising meaning whatsoever when used by a person of either sex to describe their partner. The term is used in a self-depreciating way to indicate she’s an all round nicer person than me and does an incredibly difficult, underpaid job that I could never do. But if you want to pretend to be offended go ahead if it makes your day better. #Snowflake

After 4 league home games this season, our average attendance is up 700 people.
Last season after 4 home league games the average attendance was 4,988.5. This season it's 5,694.5.
That is a 14% increase after relegation! Insane.

Do you mean the season before last? The attendance last season, at a rough guess, was zero excluding club officials. Actually, slight correction. Last season’s average attendance was slightly over zero, as that fraudster attended a few.

Guess you mean the incomplete 2019-20 season? Looking at league games only, our first home game was Bradford which was a crowd of 6,882 followed by Colchester (4,103) and Port Vale (4,290). Next up was Crewe (4,679). Mansfield in October was 5,087 and Scunthorpe just before Christmas was 7,385 but attendances really tailed off with Macclesfield in the league (our third time playing them in a month) drawing a crowd of 3,794. Fast forward to November and a Tuesday night fixture at home to Cheltenham only brought in a crowd of 2,508. The 2 festive home games against Crawley and Salford (just after Runaway was appointed) drew an average gate of just over 4,000. We got a crowd of 6,248 for his first official home game in charge but then we were straight back into the 4000's, although Newport at home on a Tuesday was 3,578. Ultimately, we've drawn a few big crowds in but we didn't seem to do it for back to back games and Tuesday nights in particular were terrible turn outs.

Exeter game had some kind of ticket offer. The mini-boom after appointing Runaway brought attendances back to a similar level to the first season after promotion - average circa 4.5k home fans for non-derby / ticket offer games. We haven't had home fan numbers for 4 games in a row at this season's level, with no ticket offers, since the Championship. We also still had the green seats in the corners so had a home capacity of over 7k.

How many did Bradford bring to contribute to that average - more than wrexham I would assume? I would also think the other teams brought more than the away fans we've had so far so in reality the uplift in home fans is even greater than the figures imply!

I could be wrong but does our away end hold about 2,200? Seem to remember seeing that figure mentioned in another thread not long ago.
We know that a home sell-out is roughly 6,500, given the attendance against Eastleigh and us edging into the Osmond that day.
If Notts Co sell 2,000 and we sell out, you could be looking at our first 8,000+ attendance in what feels like a long time.
Crazy that we're talking about these numbers at Town, in non-league! Just goes to show what can be achieved when you invest in the right areas.
Our money hasn't gone on big name players. Anything we have spent has gone on the ground, the catering, the training facilities, the gym, etc. A winning team helps, of course, but so does being treated with respect.

I seem to think I've seen 2200 mentioned for the osmond, but also 1800, not sure which is right. Split the difference 2000? Lol

Osmond is just under 1900. Big away followings in the Championship - Sunderland / Wednesday etc would have been 2k plus because of green seats in the Clee Corner.
Notts have never filled the Osmond - their away followings to us have been shite - even when they needed a win for promotion they only brought 1200. The clubs on the A46 just don't seem to like travelling to us do they...Lincoln only filled the Osmond post Cowley, whereas, Scunthorpe, to be fair, have managed to fill it when they've visited since we went all seater.

There are two figures for away allocation, 2,200 includes the corner, the 1,700 does not.
I also noticed that Eastleigh fans were given a small section of the Osmond, next to the Constitutional corner, with Town fans given the rest. Potentially that gives us in the region of 2,000 extra seats.

I hate to break it to you, but if you’ve gone from GY to Scunny on the A46 you’ve taken the long way round. 😉 You could add Leicester and Coventry who usually do bring quite a lot and FGR and Bath who don’t.

Well if you go A18 past the airport and then join, what is still technically, the A46 at Oaklands roundabout does that count?

Was only Notts and Lincoln I was thinking about for the A46; actually I usually do A46 / A15 / M180 for my trips to BP. I expect us sell out the home stands for Notts but don't expect them to fill Osmond. should be over 7k for that game though.

I’m not sure when we play Notts County away but if it’s on a Saturday I’d be surprised if we take less than 3000 , assuming they give us the tickets

Notts County away is a Saturday at the moment, but I'm confident that it will be moved to an early kick off, that might affect our away following.

I cannot remember any game between us and County being an early kick off. Nottingham police are used to dealing with Championship away followings.

We’ve been there loads of times and like you say I can’t remember any early/ late kick offs. Getting moved for the telly game that could be a possibility I suppose or perhaps they’ve already been picked ?

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

Isn't the county capacity about 20k so you would have thought a 4k away allocation should be easy enough which should be sufficient even if we're still going well. Probably.

That’s ridiculous fixture planning - two relatively localish games - possibly upwards of 6k visiting fans, over 30k in total, geographic separation of a few hundred yards -policing nightmare. One of them certainly will not be happening. One will be on televised - almost nailed on.
