Cheeky buggers have only given us an extra 400 tickets - you need to get in quick!

apparently the away section only holds c1000 , we could well be pushing that

According to the website you can buy on the day but there are no concessions and it will be £2 extra. Plus we get 5% of any tickets sold via GTFC.

Perhaps that is why Orient have sent so few tickets, because they want more Town to have to pay on the day.

I plan to travel up on day and pay on gate.
As Orient are  trickle-feeding tickets to GTFC  there should be ample on the day, although it could be close to capacity by kick-off

With the amount of exiles we have and the interest generated, I can see us selling out quite honestly.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

What happens then if we sell on the day and say we have 1,200 but 1,500 travel? Can they accommodate the extra 300?

We will surely sell 1000. We took that many in 2017 in the positivity of the first season. And that wasn’t even the first flush of excitement. The mood seems even more positive now.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Initial allocation (230) + 2nd batch (400) + 3rd batch (592) = 1,222

Club tweeted a short time ago that approximately 250 tickets remaining. So we’ve sold around 972 and counting.

Orient fan says 1300 for away fans. Can be a bit less depending on netting needed on some rows.

So what happens if we sell 1200 tickets and a couple of hundred turn up on the day without tickets?

Drive in is easy . Parking is not easy but there is a multi story before you turn off for ground.

Westfield shopping centre isn’t too far from there so is an option to park there. A decent walk through the Olympic Park from there.

I'm going back to the late '80's. It was the time we lost 5-0 there on April Fools Day and Kevin Campbell who was on-loan from Arsenal, scored a hat-trick for them.

I drove down with 3 mate and we left about 6am. Got the ground about 9.30-10ish and parked right outside the away end. We then hopped on a tube and went into Central London for a few hours. Got back to the car only to find it was now the only car parked down the street, with no parking cones everywhere. I approached a policeman who was eyeing up my car and explained to him that when I parked the car there were no restrictions on the street at all. To be fair to him he said I could leave the car where it was and he'd explain what had happened to the local traffic wardens.

I half expected the car to have been towed away when the game ended but he was good to his word and it was still there.

As far as I'm aware yes they are, and that's why the initial allocation sold in the blink of an eye.I would suggest ordering the tickets on line. It's very efficient, you are assured of getting in an d the club earns a bit from you doing so.

Ps there are less than 200 left so I wouldn't leave it too long if I were you

That was the last time I went to their ground... a disappointing performance to say the least

Went there a couple of times in the early 80s... always had a happy-go-lucky feel to the place, rather than it being intimidating like a lot of the other London clubs grounds were ( like West Ham, Chelsea, Millwall etc )

Anyone there in the 1980-81 season by any chance? A couple of Town fans attacked a bloke and his daughter on the road out... I recall it making the front page of the national papers on the Monday

I was there for that, 1980 incident, some idiot jumped out the emergency exit of a coach and attacked a car with a hammer from what I recall, remember being held up in the area for ages

Regarding the Leyton Orient V Grimsby Town match circa 1980 which i think we won 0 2 with Gary Birtles scoring & being brilliant, i was in a pub in Mill Hill & Bodie & Doyle from the' Professionals' were filming, i asked them for an autograph when they came to the bar & they said no, straight after me a pretty girl went & asked for their autographs, they bought her a drink & signed autographs for her. I had watched every episode until this, after that i didn't watch the rotten buggers anymore. I did hear on the radio & the newspapers about the nutters climbing out of the back of the coach & attacking a car, idiots.

It was 91. An important win in our penultimate away game after a shock 1-0 home defeat by Crewe in the week threatened automatic promotion. The last away game being the infamous one at the Victoria Ground - when it was known well beforehand the Stoke fans were going to have a go and of course they did invade the pitch and come straight over to our end.

I was at that infamous game in the 80s. The incident were a Town fan got out of the emergency exit of the coach and attacked a family of colourd people with a hammer. The guy who did it was a notorious fan by the name of "mad miff" from the scaffa mob. He did time for it.

I remember the Crewe game, think it was midweek, we dominated it but I think it might have been Craig Hignett who got the winner?

Talking of fans, not the idiots ( hopefully), as a youngster, and coming on the supporters bus from Brigg, early 70’s, so I didn’t know anything or anybody from Grimsby/ Cleethorpes but when standing in the Pontoon someone would start up the chant, “ give me a G” which everyone would then shout”G” followed by the rest of Grimsby, was always told that only certain people could start this chant as they were the top boys, was this correct.
Also was always told the “white coat boys” were the number 1 group from town, was this also just terrace rumour or not?

Was 90ish, we went up two weeks or so later - possibly we beat Bolton the week after? It was my birthday, I had a sling on and remember drinking green lager at a nearby pub. We were in the terrace behind the goal.

I was there for that, 1980 incident, some idiot jumped out the emergency exit of a coach and attacked a car with a hammer from what I recall, remember being held up in the area for ages

They did... me and my mates were in my car, right behind their coach when it all kicked off.

It was all pretty surreal being in a line of cars at traffic lights with something like a "Punch & Judy"  fight taking place

I can't recall exactly why it all escalated so quickly but I think the Town fans were intimidating the guy who was attacked from the back of the bus... I do remember he was called Oswald and that he got out of his car to confront them when it suddenly turned really ugly

He was being hit over and over again on his head and was bleeding profusely but still kept trying to fight back.

His daughter got out to try and come between them as the bus started off from the lights so the perpetrators then ran to get back in the bus as it was pulling away

I believe the police caught up with the coach on its way back up north...

I didn't see the outcome but whoever committed the assault was lucky he didn't land a fatal blow on the poor bloke

It was Miffs mate a guy called Doc .
there’s loads of famous stories about the old Scaffa lot .
The one that always made me laugh was when 30 of them got arrested for a serious affray at Coventry , when the police interviewed Miffy they produced Exhibit A ,  a hockey stick .
They asked Miff if he recognised it and he swore he’d never seen it before .
Then then asked him why it had his sisters name and address stuck on it and what was it doing in Coventry 😂😂
Following football in the 80s was a totally different experience to what we have these days

I think you might be right about it been doc.

I remember the story about the hockey stick, but as I remember it it was Cambridge away. Miff got away with it. All the scaffa mob said that they all met at miffs house and any one of them could have taken it.

Pretty sure we didn’t beat Bolton that season. Or ANY season!

Remember the home game we lost 1-0, when Shaun Cunnington was denied the most obvious penalty imaginable?!

Miff was only trying to have a quiet game of pool and suddenly the locals got a little over excited by our presence.

No. The ref was one Brian Hil from Kettering, I'll never forget him for that decision which
led us having to get a result later at that famous game at Stoke.

Mind you Cunnington whilst right through on goal would have probably missed.. As good as he was
his shooting was awful at times.

Won 2-1 at Bolton with goals from Bobby Mitchell and Kevin Drinkell I think it was the early 80,s

Bobby Mitchell did not score a lot but hit a 30 yarder into the top of the net.

I missed it because I had gone for a pee

Remember that one well! The linesman flagged but was overruled by the ref. To his  credit the linesman initially refused to stand down and continued to flag and had to be told again by the ref. One of the worst decisions I have ever seen in 'real life's.

Football, as life (and many sports), goes through various changes within it's life. Look at what we have now, a lopsided contrast within the divisions of the game due to the money and changes being implemented. I remember the pontoon (being amongst the limbs) after cockers toe poked in from 4 yards. Just imagine if that had been reviewed by VAR or kids had been filming it on their phones.

Football may have changed, but it's not always for the better

That's true Woz, more of a level playing field back then whereas now the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and there's no realistic chance of making a fist way up the leagues with a little good management.

It disgusts me football now tbh, I just love my Town and take in some of the top level just because of the extreme talent and athletiscm on show. But it's all a shower of sh!t really, the games ruined.

Just sounds scary as f all this talk of bat's and stuff. I can look after myself if it comes to it though I never seek, but they had Stanley blades and all sorts back then. Too far, way too far.

My memory of that incident was that the linesman was up with the play and flagged furiously for a foul. The ref ignored him so he flagged again and the ref turned his back on him. It was outside the box but he was clean through. The defender clipped his heel from behind and would have been sent off if the ref hadn't bottled it.

Yes you get that at all manner of live events now, I was reading about an exhibition of the early rave scene on at the moment - it mentioned everyone was in the moment not a device in sight, whereas go to an event now and there's just a load of people at the front with their phones up in the air. The same at large live bands too now I'm sure.

Mainly because in those days your phones didn't have cameras in them, they were too heavy to keep held up for long and people would nick them if given half a chance and they weren't as traceable.  Besides most of them were off their mammaries.  Which is where this little fellah came in   Aciiiieeed!

Orient come across as completely unprepared here. Either that or just pig headed. For fans to not know where they stand regarding buying tickets is just poor. They make GTFC seem organised.

Thanks Bigdog but what sort of information is this ? Can I tel friends to turn up and they may get in? Both clubs have been pretty poor over this, to get to the night before a fourth tier game and not be sure you can get I if you travel is worse than poor

Disagree with you on this one. I feel all away seating should be unreserved, as it saves arguing over the seat when people turn up 1 minute before KO or are late. First come first served.

Have to admit, I’ve never understood why people get precious about what seat they sit in at away games...you never get to choose so therefore, make it all unreserved. Would save plenty of hassle.

In this case, and normally I’m quick to criticise the club but I don’t think GTFC have done anything wrong here, I guess both sides have been caught out with the up turn in interest from our point of view, orient naturally want to be accommodating but also they’re probably concerned about policing etc which is impacting their decision. That said, ‘limited amount’ does seem a little confusing...

Agree with this, last week at Mansfield the some stewards where telling people that it was unreserved other that it was reserved one told me "it's unreserved but of someone comes with that ticket you'll have to move". Not their fault just no clarity from their club.

Not sure GTFC could have done anything else TBH.

Town COULD have issued you with a match ticket AND your actual seat so you could place it where ever it was you wanted to sit in the stand. Not sure how this would have worked logistically.

But how many are actually going to use the seat, maybe at half time but during the game the vast majority will be stood anyway.

Aside from in side stands, on the continent when I’ve been to games ya literally stand/sit wherever you like. Nobody moans and if you want to sit specifically in a sit, sit on the periphery or in the side stand...

If you want to sit because you can’t stand it’s much easier to wait and find a seat when everyone is sorted as if you’ve a ticket in the middle and everyone is standing it’s not fair to ask everyone to sit down. I think I’ve made sense! I’m one that. We’d to sit down and have no problem with doing this. UTMM!!!
