#GTFC starting XI - McKeown, Hendrie, Davis, Collins, Whitmore, Welsh (C), Hessenthaler, M. Rose, Clifton, Woolford, Thomas. Subs - Famewo, Pringle, Russell, Vernam, Hall-Johnson, Hooper
451 all over it for my money, Clifton and Woolford wide i presume.

One up front and five central midfielders across the middle. I hope to have egg on my face after the game, but that just doesn’t look like a side that’s going to win this game.

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong Update: I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

It looks a nervous lineup to me. I think Jolley’s conscious that a third heavy defeat in a row puts him in a precarious position, and he’s set things up to avoid that above all else.

Just watching the shooting in the warm up the words cos @rse and banjo spring to mind.... pathetic!
Warm up looks sedate body language looks poor and the players don’t look interested, My granny moves more than Macca does in his warm up since Warrington left.
Let’s hope that I’m proved wrong and we get an elusive and unlikely win.

How I feel too. Not the team I was hoping for or expecting. Surprised at one or two who have retained their place and one or two who have been dropped or are not starting. Maybe we are following the line that a team who has been losing games and shipping goals should concentrate on becoming hard to beat or break down first and foremost. I hope it works. Go one down and it'll need changing quick. Can't say I feel positive about the starting eleven and would have preferred us to be taking the game to them with a greater offensive threat.

Score a goal? It’s odd, every time I’ve seen him he’s managed to look such a good player without looking like scoring. Perhaps that says more about the service he’s been getting than it does him.

Framework always looked very solid defensively so puzzling why he always gets the chop, think he should be left hand side player in a defensive two or three.
Oh well praying for a win

we seem toothless. only Welsh and Clifton are standout for me. Too many loose balls, half-attempts to get the ball let alone win it. Some pretty moments that end far too quickly in a give away but no oomph at all. Lots of hopeful (hopeless?) long balls though. They seem fast and purposeful compared to us. Am I way off the mark? I honestly know nothing about this the technicalities of football and systems but week in week out this is looking pretty depressingly aimless

Perhaps we could we're attempting the opposite to recent weeks where we play poor first half and great second!

Negative lineup and a negative first half. Glad we are not behind but Thomas is totally isolated and starved of service. Vernam must wonder what the intercourse he has to do to get a start. Clifton has been busy and covered a lot of ground. We do look like an accident waiting to happen at the back though.

Macca has done well with whats come his way, probably should of come for a few crosses nothing different there. Davis clearly out of position has to keep coming back on himself as he has no left foot. Collins weak link again, refuses to move from his CB position even when the Davis is already covering. Whitmore is looking solid but nothing more. Hendrie is struggling a little again a good quick left winger. Woolford keeps passing sideways instead of forwards and isn't driving down the flanks insteading drifting in forcing Hess to go wide. Hess is playing alright keeps having to pass backwards or sideways either because of lack of movement or finding himself on left wing. Rose isplaying OK tackling well but his passing has been poor today and keeps doing his usual thing of losing the ball in the wrong places. Welsh is covering alot of ground and playing well, probably the best player for us today. Clifton can't decide if he should be bombing on or staying deep which isn't helping Hendrie either, hes putting in his usual effort but hes getting no where. Thomas is getting nothing and I mean nothig, hes had scraps to desperately run on to and only one pass to feet. Everyone seems to be playing a different style to everyone else. Stevenage aren't godd either but they've actually had shits we haven't.

0-0...with a cautious line up ......little goal threat .... i would think Jolley would be happy with that.
Desperately doesnt want to lose again so , so far so good in that respect...however its been the second halfs were generally we have come unstuck.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD

Ah f@ck this....enough is enough....we're not improving and I have now lost all patience with jolley and his crew...even lloyd griffiths noticed how poor we are up front....how can jolley be given more time to turn this round!!??...the hangover from last year is still there for all to see and if we're honest with ourselves and take off the rose tinted glasses for a minute, did he really save us last season or was it just lady luck happened to be on his side for those last 10 games...ie all the penalties we were awarded... The bromance is well n truly over for me....

It’s a cheap squad and he’s gone out not to lose.
It is worth remembering that he has had very few games as a professional manager. Us being shite is not a new problem and it isn’t caused by Jolley. He might not be a success but I reckon we must be one of the hardest jobs in the football league.
The board are the problem and have been for a long time. I fancied us to struggle this season and I feel he’s been set up to fail.

Blundell Park will be very toxic next week. He needs to start with his best 11, press from the off and go for the win.

Football is a simple game. We’ve been here for 140 years after all.
MJ is hell bent on over complicating it. Maybe that’s what the UEFA pro licence tells you, but do Lincoln try and play overly extravagant formations and tactics?
Of course not. They’re organised and well drilled. And at L2 that’s all you need to be.
Get back to bloody basics, play players in their natural Positions and try and win a game of football.
That’s all the fans ask for.

This emphasises how desperately unlucky we have been with injuries, I mean I can't imagine any sides carry a third left back at this level. Doesn't excuse how poor we've been but the injury situation has no doubt contributed to it.

There is no argument to be had here. We are definitely unfit and we seem to have a lot of injuries that it can't simply be bad luck.

If all players are fully match fit I would like to see Jolley play something like this on a regular basis to see if it could gel into a cohesive side. Subs or alternatives in brackets who fit into the system in that position..
3-5-2
GK McKeown
CB Davis Whitmore Famewo
(Hendrie)
RWB Hendrie
(RHJ)
LWB Pringle
(Fox) (RHJ)
CM Welsh Rose Hessenthaler
(Embleton) (Clifton)
CF Thomas Vernam
(Cook) (A Rose)
Something like this, uncomplicated and plays to our strengths when looking at the balance of the squad we've got. If any players in brackets interchange with the selected starting eleven, I don't think it would weaken us and maybe give us an extra dimension to our play, whether shutting up shop while leading or pushing for goals if we're behind or drawing. That's my take on what I've seen from every game this season, our strongest players in their rightful positions, and even though we've had the odd injury, MJ has put nothing like this side out yet..

The shape yesterday didn't help Thomas did o.k. at when given the ball but nobody gave him any options in terms of being able to lay it off, the one up front also meant that nobody advanced into channels, we where actually quite easy to play against. Maybe the one up front would have been better complimented by Clifton's energy in a more central position.

Perhaps he isn't played out wide for them, it certainly didn't suit him against Oldham. Twice he had the ball near the edge of the pitch but proceeded to just run the ball off the pitch as he had no idea what to do under pressure. I recall Sam Kelly doing the exact same thing. It doesn't bode well for me. Maybe he needs time to adjust to league 2 but it was a worrying start as far as I'm concerned.

It doesn't bode well for me. Maybe he needs time to adjust to league 2 but it was a worrying start as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think it's fair to judge Embleton on one game. It's fairer to judge others, such as Collins, who is becoming a liability, as opposed to Famewo who has done very little wrong.

You make a fair point, but he is one of our better squad players and when you're saying that it doesn't say much about the strength of our squad per se....I also am very, very concerned that MJ is starting to clutch at straws now, as soon as I saw that team announced my blood boiled... I am no football manager and have zero football qualifications yet anyone with half a footballing brain would have the balls to have dropped Collins, Woolford and started with Famewo and Vernham respectively... And that's my concern, he already has his favourites, he needs to grow a pair and tell those who are not performing to sit on the bench....

When I heard that Woolford offers athleticism in the middle of the park I spat my cup of coffee out in amazement at what I was hearing.
