Who's idea was the wall of sound ? If it was done to create an atmosphere then it worked well . It sounded like we were celebrating promotion , it must of affected chesterfield a bit ?

I asked the DJ if he had Agadoo but he didn’t. He asked if I’d rather have Chelsea Dagger on instead.

I thought at times, it somewhat drowned out the best atmosphere at BP for years. It wasn't terrible, but today it wasn't needed IMO.

Could tell a big difference when going into the ground today though some of the choices of music at half time had a lot to be desired, I did notice sweet Caroline got a nice reaction by some people at full time, was a few singing along.

I thought it was a great idea on the clubs part and something I’ve been suggesting to those around us for a while. It was no coincedance the atmosphere before the game felt a little extra intense. Go to any other football ground and they have a louder PA system you can actually hear. It’s such an important tool for a club to use and we’ve not been taking advantage of that for far too long. Before the Stevenage game you’d be forgiven in thinking it was a pre season game such was the quiteness in the ground, almost felt as if we’d accepted our fate already. For once a positive move by the club off the pitch and shows they are listening to fans and trying to improve the match day experience.

The Interview with the MOTM in Mcmenermys after the game is also a very good idea and I enjoyed that today. Other clubs up and down the country have been doing these things for years and are gaining extra revenue as a result...

There are shutes of improvement on and off the pitch...

The sound system proper is one of the many many many many things that should have been improved at Blundell Park during the Fenty years. Ridiculous that in 2018 we have not been able to hear a thing the announcer is saying. To have to have a mountain of speakers piled up in the open corner is somewhat embarrassing but I thought it did the job of making things audible.

Lets hope we can get a proper PA system installed by the start of next season - every other club seems to manage it.

Nothing wrong with the clubs pa other than its past its best and not fit for purpose,
The club have decided they would try something different for the last 3 games then look at the PA over the summer

Was the sound clear?

Yes.  But an improvement? No. It was awful. Prior to the game the fans in the pontoon were singing to try and drown out the awfulness that is the Fratellis. Atmosphere is am intangible organic thing, not this mass produced cynical rubbish.

The atmosphere was good because we realised how much this game mattered, not because the DJ's song choices could actually be heard.

Who on earth put that goal music in? If you’re going to have goal Music (which you shouldn’t), don’t use that song!!!! Use actual celebration music. Simple simple stuff.

Who actually wants goal music?

People saying they don’t care what’s played, as long as we score goals.

Exactly.

The goals are enough on their own. It’s pure joy, elation, theatre, ecstasy.

It doesn’t need any artificial enhancement.

I’m aware the club wants to improve the sound of the PA and that’s fair enough but, please, no music.

Pre-match music stops the fans creating their own noise. Goal music frowns out the celebrations.

It’s just not needed. Half time tunes? Fine. But keep it there.

Even the choice of tunes is boring and unoriginal - the same tunes you hear everywhere else. Nothing unique to Grimsby in there. Sweet Caroline is already massively overplayed to the point where I now positively hate it.

Town won a game of football today in dramatic circumstances and i didn’t need music to make it better.

For me music pre match and at half time until the players are on the pitch then it should be left to the fans to make the noise to boost the players that extra few %.

Is their a way of getting the clap clap fish song on the screen and tannoy, if anything that would be better than some dodgy 60s song.

Thought the music before the game was a sound addition. Helped create a great atmosphere,
Didn’t hear the goal music, as was too busy celebrating, so once again I’d say it complemented the atmosphere.
The choice of song is a bit immaterial: so long as it is upbeat and recognisable. It’s not all request Friday FFS.

Couldn't agree more, it is like nails on a chalkboard to me.  The organic atmosphere and reactions of the crowd are a huge part of what I love about football, goal music and forced atmosphere creation with music just takes away from those special moments.

Something needs to be done in the MAN STAND the talking and giving info was very muffled you could not understand a word of it.

This is not because we old sods are hard of hearing lol the system needs sorting,

Well I for one thought it was a bloody good idea for once you could hear the enouncements crystal clear in the upper it created an atmosphere prior to the game which helped wind up the support. I thought that on our visit to Lincoln how will they created a atmosphere you could hear the pa as you walked up to the ground which in my opinion started to get the hairs on your neck standing up. This is what attending a match should be like not the dreary monotone dull system that is currently at Blundell Park

Fully agree I couldn’t understand what was being said in the main stand, I walked round the pontoon with 5 to go and when the music came on when we scored and after the final whistle when the pa came in it was very clear must be improved in the main stand

Just listened back and I think the music used after we scored was the “liquidator”. Wolves famously use it before their games. Never heard it used as goal celebration music though, seems an odd choice. As I said above, all for an improved PA system but the music choices need improving if it’s to stay

Don`t agree, BP has been like a morgue for weeks now and needed something new and different to liven things up, full marks to a) those that introduced it and b) those that set it up and operated it.
Todays game was a water shed in how a club being positioned at the sh1t end of nowhere can finally wake up and throw away its old fashioned ideas and create a pre match atmosphere, imagine going to Wemble and sitting in silence pre match, come on lets at least try something new once in a while, its not done Lincoln any harm

It was in a high risk area after we scored the penalty and was booming out celebration music, of an opposition player hitting the tower of speakers with a frustrated hack at the ball, better placed behind the protection of the goal net in the Osmond

The PA system has been total crap at BP for years and years and needed improvement but from my position in the pontoon they where too loud, intrusive, couldnt hear myself think. I don't go to get my head blasted my the "musical" filth they played until my  head hurt.

Don't want that shite.

Quiet background music is all I'm after

I'm totally with Rich on this. You don't need music to create atmosphere. How do you think it happened in the past? Goal celebration music is just embarrassing American-inspired crap (if you want that go to the ice hockey). I've been to plenty of games in recent years where there was a perfectly good atmosphere without music blaring out.

And as for there being no atmosphere without music at Wembley, it was the flipping loud music at Wembley in 2013 that drowned out the signing so others couldn't hear it and carry it on. The atmosphere was killed stone dead, so much so that fans had to organise a way to overcome the problem.

Keep PA for safety and information announcements.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I know it’s not quite the same but Manchester United have been doing for years a pre-match and half time playlist where they get one of their more high profile fans to pick the tunes and create an atmosphere. They print the playlist in the programme and social media and it often features unsigned bands from the area, giving them a bit of exposure. I’m not quite sure but I think they use the same last 4 or 5 songs so the teams walk out to the same tune every match. Worth a think about for next season. Maybe a poll or something online so the music is the fan’s choice and not the DJ. Get local bands to submit demos and play one or two each game.

I personally always liked us walking out to “The Boys Are Back In Town” but maybe we could use orphan boy to give us something unique

The PA system has been total crap at BP for years and years and needed improvement but from my position in the pontoon they where too loud, intrusive, couldnt hear myself think. I don't go to get my head blasted my the "musical" filth they played until my  head hurt.

Don't want that shite.

That`s your opinion and has to be respected, however we need something new to drag us into the 21st century, and this is a start , too many old anoraks and dyed in the wools, IMO, you would make an excellent board member

Generally a sound idea (no pun intended) as the PA system is crap and needs upgrading. Not against music either but yesterday it wasn't needed at certain times in the game. For the first time in ages, the game and the football generated an atmosphere, as it does when there is something to cheer about. As others have said, you cannot create an atmosphere, though you can enhance it when it happens organically. The outpouring of joy and relief when that penalty hit the back of the net didn't need any accompaniment. I stood there yesterday after the final whistle, listening to that crowd reaction thinking to myself, how can a club with these fans and this passion be struggling so badly and be in danger of going out of the league? Give us something to get behind and the atmosphere will lift the roof off.

We can't critique the players or manager this week so let's give the DJ and crowd announcer the famous Fishy tactical advice and wisdom.

If we win against Barnet, we'll move on the important topics of moving the tea in the kiosks from PG Tips to Tetleys and when the Club Shop should release their 2019 calendars.

The new football stadiums built/modernized since the 90's it does feel BP is old fashioned and outdated. We do need someone to kick on, dragging the club out of it's time warp. Dispite that, there's no way I can work with the current board, not enough room for my ego as well

Like people said its about time we had a new sound system, just think it needed switching off 5 minutes before the game let the fans take over, didnt notice music at the goal but that needs scrapping goal music is for prawn sandwich teams, hopefully theyll take on feedback and keep improving how they use it

That sort of shite synthetic PA atmosphere is not a new thing. They’ve been trying to press it onto crowds in England for years. It’s going back out of fashion now and we introduce it.

It’s embarrassing, a load of songs that mean nothing to us and plenty to other clubs.

You know it's possible to be annoyed by something and complain about it while still being delirously happy overall?

I was ecstatic yesterday and despite being hungover most of today still have struggled to stop smiling. But I still want to raise issues with the club. Yeah had we lost or drawn I would be less bothered by it as I would be more devestated that the most crucial matter went badly. In the grand scheme of things goal music and forced attempts to create atmosphere are only a small concern. But I can still be concerned about them. I love going to Blundell Park and so I want that experience to be the best it can be. For me that means no goal music, no happy clappers or whatever they are called and no phoney attempts to generate atmosphere. However Blundell Park is not just my home but ours, I can't jist have it my way, I accept people think differently, I can use a forum to express my views though.

For people who like the attempts to generate atmosphere can I ask if you can think of one goal we scored or one game with a phenomenonal atmosphere that truly stands out in your mind and think if it would of been better with goal music?

Good side playing good football = atmosphere. It's a simple concept, but has been true since football started and is true today. A sound system to generate noise is an admission that you are getting the important bit wrong, and another example to me that the club just don't get it.

Town playing the bal on the ground, attempts on goal and indeed some goals scored, do that and the atmosphere tends to look after itself at BP.

Well I want to hear Queen at BP. Cheezy as intercourse.

We are the Champions my friend

I won’t hold my breath 😉

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

It would be interesting to know how much money was wasted on those black tin cans at the back of the Findus Stand, you would be better off with a town crier on the centre spot and cheaper too.
