All i care about is... are we signing a Scandinavian keeper, a halifax left back or a rotherham playeror a man united youngster?

20,000 would take us up to the next tier. Anyone else think it should of been held at a smaller stadium, like Man U's or Man City's ground? Wembley stadium is proving to be too big of a stadium for such small interest.

Then both teams would have taken even less fans and you could say 'They should have played it in a smaller stadium like Hull's. Before you know it we'd have been running out in front of 3000 people at Glanford Park.

Not really, it would have the novelty of going to a premier league club's stadium. A chance a non league club might not get again unless you draw them in a cup. Or make it into that league or even they get relegated.

If i was a wrexham fan id want it at wembley but because its old hat to us i would have preffered villa park trafford somewhere like that, but the truth is the fa need to recoup back ££££££ to pay the building debt which is why the fa cup semis are there

Maybe because it's so long since we played at Old Trafford and never at the Etihad but that wouldn't be true of other teams. What would it have done for the attendance if the final had been Dartford vs Cambridge? Is anyone disappointed that they're going to be watching Town running out at Wembley next Sunday?

Good grief, let's patronise ourselves and save anyone else the bother. (at least they had a good day out at Wembley etc etc) What you have to understand is there are a large majority of supporters who have been going for decades, we have seen it, done it and got the tee shirt so to speak. Going to any stadium doesn't give us a little sex wee at all. The point of playing at Wembley is it's the National Stadium, for cup finals, pomp and tradition.

The last bit is very true but in these economic times its going to cost a fortune for a large family to travel to london maybe stay over etc

Fair points - hadn't seen it when I posted. Personal preference I suppose but I'm much more excited at a trip to Wembley than I would have been at a trip to Villa Park.

My 9 year old can't wait keeps going on Wembley site and checking out the view from his seat. Do you think Man UTD or Chelsea fans get sick of going to Wembley. NO as it shows that your club is being successful and winning things which as we all now s why we support our team just for days like this as we never know when it might happen again. Maybe 6 weeks later or 6 years later or never again in our lifetime so lets all enjoy it and take it all in as you never know we may not go again !
|
| Have followed Town for all my life during the ups and downs.
My son plays for school of excellence which is so well run without any funding and can see some future stars in the lower age teams.

Been to wembley the past three times, if it was at a premier league ground I probably wouldn't bother but I am going to Wembley again.
In short the reason they want it at Wembley is because the crowds will be bigger there, if they held it elsewhere its been proven by past crowds, fans/part time fans aint as interested.

I am excited, it's my first time to Wembley with town. I just wondering if anyone else thought that this competition is too small for a Wembley final with such little interest. If it was a football league trophy/cup we'd easily take 25,000+. But because it's a non league trophy it seems we're struggling to get 20.000. Though I still predict a mad rush next week for a lot of fans.

The Vase final always used to be played at Wembley. I went many times to watch that so i dont agree that this competition is 'too small' for Wembley.
This is a chance for fans to go to Wembley who otherwise may never get to watch their team there. I am sure Wrexham are delighted the game is at Wembley giving them a chance to visit the national stadium for the first time.

I have been following town for nearly 60 years,
If you count Cardiff, I have visited our national stadium 5 times counting this one,
Thats one visit every 12 years,so I am hardly losing interest in going, the novelty is definately not wearing off,

Can you imagine the reaction of fans if the FA announced that the final would take place at Villa park or another prem ground, rather than Wembley. I think there would be an uproar. Still, its something else to whinge about.

I think its excellent that little non-league clubs like us and Wrexham can play at Wembley however tinpot the trophy they are playing for might be. I'll be there like Pete for my 4th visit (plus cardiff makes 5) and I'm looking forward to the occasion (mainly the beers before and after rather than the match) but pleeeeeeese, and I know that for some of you it's the first time you have seen Town at Wembley, can we stop this endless 'what block are you in?', 'how many tickets have we sold' and other ridiculously over-exciteable threads from over-excited folk on here

No need for that but can everyone just stop acting like excited 10 year olds - it's the FuckAll Trophy not the World Cup Final FFS - or has everyone on here bought 'junior' tickets for the match?

I'm not being negative - I will be at Wembley cheering on the team like everyone else (although I must admit I can't get too interested in it as I still believe and will always believe that the FA Trophy has affected our league form and could well cost us promotion and promotion this season is all that matters - nothing else) I'm just p!ssed off with those who are acting like kids on Christmas Eve - it's pathetic. We are playing in a final of a small trophy aimed at non-league clubs, it doesn't matter compared to the league - thats all

Yes I do , I think more tickets would have been sold due to the fact of easier access to either of those grounds . Car parking , motorways and other facilities are far better that our national stadium .

All I know is my Dad supported GTFC all his life and never got chance to see his beloved team walk out and grace the pitch and fulfill the dream that is Wembley.
This will be my Forth time and when GTFC enter that pitch there will be a piece of me wishing my dad should have witnessed this.
Yes it may be less than half full but it matters not. I can say Yes i was there with my family and my team GTFC.
Sing loud and proud GTFC fans we are one it is our day to enjoy in the capital win or lose.

UP the FRIGGIN MARINERS!!!
My dad never got to see us play at wembley either, He did get to see two semi final games in the FA Cup in the 30's though, I bet he would have given up those two games to see us win at wembley.

am i right in thinking that one of those semi finals was at old trafford and that is still the record attendance for old trafford. i have mentioned this statistic to many plastic man utd fans, am i still correct or has it changes now that old trafford has been expanded greatley over the years. anyone confirm my theory?

Logistically and atmosphere wise maybe the ManCity place or OT would have been better for Grimsby and Wrexham. But who knew?
Whilst it pre-dates the demise of the FA Amateur Cup, the Trophy has inherited that bit of football's history since the pro-am distinction was dropped. That was hardly a tinpot cup. And from the off the Trophy Final has been played at Wembley (bar the period of its rebuilding).
So, to my mind, Wembey's the right place.

Still the case. Record attendance 76,962 (Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Grimsby Town, 25 March 1939)
