Until it is mathematically impossible for us to win the league then there's everything to play for - FACT. UTFM.

The good news is that's the really tough illegitimate games out the way now. (not that any are ever easy)

Have to say, while I wasn't any of them it sounded like we came out with credit from all 3.
Could we have had 9 points with a bit more luck ?
Wouldn't be suprised but you tell me...

Certainly doesn't feel like 3 gives us the amount of credit we deserve.

This is the closest chase for the title in a long time and there are many twists and turns yet to go, it's not over by a long way!!

There are still plenty of games to go, we have games in hand and many of the  teams above us have to play each other. We have just lost 2 games in a row to the 2 in-form teams in the division but We were the best team tonight by far up until the unfortunate first goal. Things are being blown up out of all proportion. It's desperately disappointing but not over until the last Sat of the season. The teams above us may get nervous as the run-in hots up (it's happens virtually every year) hopefully we will have got over our bad patch by then and can overtake them. We have to keep believing, there are a lot of winnable games coming up before the end of the season and in my opinion, automatic promotion is still a possibility.

Far from over but we definitely need to win the next couple of games. No more shitty draws.
Keep the same team barring injuries and lets finally bang afew results together. Its not over, weve just made things difficult for ourselves!

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

I agree, even though I am very pi$$ed off.

I'm pi$$ed off too but at least there's hope.

What can you do ?....
Let's face it we ARE gonna have these unlucky spells through the season and occasionally lose games, even successive ones.
Sometimes through no real fault of our own.
tbh even Kiddy struck me as they won it on the counter.

Could have been worse - we could have been completely outplayed and battered but we weren't.

No point fans (or players) being downheartened or drunk off, it's not even over yet !
Perhaps we'll get a big chunk of luck from now on and other teams won't.

There's no way it's over. It's wide open.
If you mean, 'it's over for us' - well, we'll have a better idea of that after the next 2/3 games I think. Really disappointed and can understand people saying 'it's over' but it's really not.

Who's gonna win it then ?

Mansfield ? Maybe but didn't sound too great tonight
Kiddy ? Possibly but have slipped up before + we can overtake them with games in hand.
Wrexham ? Wobbling recently themselves.
Newport ? God knows tbh but it's not the first team you'd think of. 3 pts for us final day looks a good call.

All I've got to say is, a few weeks back apparently us what just between us and Wrexham according to many on here, now look at it?
Theres so many games to play and the rest of ours are very winnable.
We played well tonight, very well for an hour.
Ino its all ifs buts and maybes. But against Kiddy there keeper made 2 world class saves, as did Marriot tonight from Miller.

Anybody who thinks its over needs a reality check, which from listening to Humberside after the game alot people think it is.

Title race might be a bridge to far but a play off place and a wembley trip is a fantastic achievement in anyone's book. Certainly the best season we have had for many a year inside and outside of the league. I for one have enjoyed this season no end and the management team need to take a pat on the back for that.

If we do a "98" it will be a fantastic bonus keep the faith lads and liam get yourself fit mate we need you.

Kiddy still look favorites to me to take the title.

I would say you need a reality check we are now 7 points behind to 2 teams that are in a rich vein of form at the right time, we on the other hand are way off form, 7 points is hard to make up at the best of times but with only 11 games to go our only hope now is to stay in contention for a playoff place.

Winning the league looks extremely difficult but we have one game against a side in the top 6 (and that being the last one) and lots of the others will drop points as they play each other.

There are more twists and turns to come in my opinion and all we can do is try and win each game as it comes and see where it takes us.

With games on hand on both of them? Who have to play each other twice? There are some form teams at the minute, but everyone has a bad spell, I think Kiddy lost there last 3 games of last season after going on a great run.
If we can win on Saturday and play like we did tonight I see no reason why it's over.
I know its hard after 10 years of excrement, but have abit of optimism ay.
We know in this league after losing to lesser teams theres always shocks and surprises results wise.
33 points left to play for, thats alot.
If Wrexham lose there next game and we win, we go within 4 points and a game in hand. BELIEVE.

Still plenty of time to go, lots of games between the top teams that could go in our favour, better to have our blip now for a few games then turn it around, the teams in form are due a fall, hopefully sooner rather than later or the as the play offs happen.

I reckon we will go up via the playoffs and do the same as 98", forever the optimist but winning the league is still a possibilty

How about Hearn to return as our Roy of the rovers for older town fans and send us up

Important we don't let the mood change to one of despondancy that we are not going to win the title. Need to remain positive and upbeat to take us through the playoffs.

At the beginning of the season I would have been delighted with where we are in the league. Throw in the fact we have made it to the final of the trophy and there is a lot to be positive about.

My only concern is whether Fenty will be quite so generous next year IF we don't go up. We have spent BIG this season in a bid to get out of the league.

Spot on, it will be extremely difficult and were going to have to go on a massive run. A positive is that, as you say, most of the others have got to play each other, we only have to play Newport, apart from that have the best run in so it's not impossible!

Not over at all but bloody difficult as there are a few teams which will need to slip up and not just one
EG: FGR beat Mansfield on Friday and we beat Cambridge only 4pts with game in hand. If Wrexham/Newport drop points then it's game on again
Four points is nothing in the 'squeaky bum time' part of season...teams do funny things when they are nervous and desperate to get over the line
Do think we need to win 9 out off 11 to stand a chance though which is tough but could happen
never give up
And as for those who want Mansfield to beat FGR have a word with yourselves...faint heart and all that

So some fans giving up now?  Wow.  The top 5 teams are the tightest I've ever seen in a league going for the title, and with ten games left.  Yes, the table looks like it will be difficult for us to win it now, but the last few weeks have shown us the beast that is this league.

Us and Wrexham have been patchy in the last few weeks, our last two were against two of the best teams in the division, and tbh, if we'd have taken our numerous chances in both games, we probably would have won them both.  The performances are there, we just got unlucky against two good sides.

We have two VERY winnable games next, Nuneaton and Cambridge.  If we win those we will have our confidence back, and will hopefully capitalise on other teams' slip-ups.  Trust me, the teams around us WILL slip up in the last ten games, especially as Wrexham and Mansfield still have to play each other twice (I think).  Three wins from the next three games = we're back in it as far as I'm concerned.  Put it this way, we could just end the season now, take a visit to Wembley and try to ride our luck in the playoffs, or we could really go for the title, a title we've still a good chance of winning.  Wouldn't you love to win the title from where we are now?  And the thing is, it's very possible.

It's natural for fans to be annoyed and negative after two defeats, but get back to me if we win the next three games, and tell me you still think we have no chance.

It's never over until it's over.  Keep the faith.

Couple of really good posts on this thread. I think JonoGrimsby777 makes an excellent point. Of course it is too early to say 'we have no chance of the title'. Do I think we will win it? No. But to say it's over can't be right. I'm sure there were stacks of similar posts on Kiddermister's fan sites earlier in the season.

I will just say that there has been a general consensus that we haven't played great since Christmas. Therefore, I find the fans saying we played well for an hour last night and therefore feel better about the run-in to have a slight 'snatching at straws feel'.

I'd also point out that we have to be honest with ourselves when we evaluate Town and their chances. Anyone who felt we were unlucky not to get all three point against Kidderminster really was at a different match to the one I attended.

Finally, I really, really hope that GTFC do go up this season. The finance situation that PSG has highlighted above is a real worry. As the pressure builds, I do feel Saturday is a big (note - not 'must win') match. Should we go a goal down I feel we will learn an awful lot about the squad on Saturday from their response.

I remember the season we dropped down to this league, it all went to the last day. We needed to win our game (Burton Albion), and we needed Barnet to lose theirs. Neither happened.

This year, I can see it being the same - we'll need to win our game to finish top, and we'll need others to lose theirs (although too early to say exactly who).

Too early to give up hope.

Well if you ask me there's a good case for a "slash and rebuild in L2" if we DO.

That said, I've no idea what the financial implications are or whether we could even make a profit to get out of debt.

If it was tough, I'm not sure what I'd do.
But I see little point in half arsed expensive budgets that leave you midtable (especially in your first season !)

I would probably slash like fury but bring in young players who can gel and be competitive in L2 the following year.

If fans are disappointed after hitting L2 they'll just have to be grateful, lump it and put all their efforts into staying up and the cup comps IMO.
That's not to say we can't be competitive in successive Football League years.

Sorry, are you saying we aren't gonna win the title or we still can ?

I mean it is important for everyone (fans, players, management etc) to stay positive as we are having a great season. I think our title hopes are very slim now but hope doom and gloom doesn't set it (like it has with some on here) as that won't help.

Anyone who felt we were unlucky not to get all three point against Kidderminster really was at a different match to the one I
attended.

It's about momentum now. We have hit bad form at the wrong time. If we had been average and mid table most of the season, then gone on a good run of wins to put us where we are now, with exactly the same points, then it would be a different matter. We'd all be excited about our prospects. Because we led early in the season when it means nothing and have since slipped away, it feels like we are going backwards and all those years of negativity are surfacing.

I'd have taken a play off spot at the beginning of the season and bar a disaster, that's the worst we will do. One thing that may come out of all this is that the managers may just think "intercourse it, excrement or bust, let's just go for it now" and that mentality could get us over the line.

One thing that is important is that we end the season in good form, because if we do end up in the play offs, the rest of the season means nowt. It's all about those last 2 or 3 games. Wrexham were clear out in second spot last season but blew it, probably because they felt deflated at missing out on automatic promotion, despite amassing 98 points.

If we don't make it up this season, then the earnings from the Trophy and play off games (hopefully including Wembley) should give us a decent war chest for a good crack next year, with a few more quality signings. Whatever happens, we still have the basis of a good squad and look to be going in the right direction for the first time in years.

All in all, it has been a positive season so far compared to what has gone before.

I wouldn't bank too much on the revenue these will create in funding next years campaign if we don't get promoted. I seem to recall that JF said we needed gates of 3,000 just to break even. Some league games have only just acheived this and the earlier cup games were well short with corresponding losses. I think a lot of fans forget that to stage a cup game against inferior opposition ie FA Trophy matches against teams 2 leagues below us , still cost the same and the revenue is proportionally less because they get a cut of the gate income. The Final will create much welcome revenue BUT we need to win it to get the full financial reward.
