Roadside parking on Grimsby Road is to be limited to 2hrs. The objective behind this is to stop roadside advertising of cars for sale. It appears that GTFC were considered but the councillor believes that most fans park in side streets and will not be affected. He obviously has never travelled to the game by car (if at all), as my experience is that fans park whereever there is a space and as 2hrs is not long enough, the side streets will be chaos while Grimsby Road remains relatively empty. Most properties along there are terrace so residents with cars will also need to find alternative spaces in the side streets. This would have been easily resolved, for the fans at least, by making it 3hrs. This could also put some potential fans off going to the game. I can't believe that this has been approved, is it April 1st? http://www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk.....17-detail/story.html

Park car at 2:55pm, get back to it at 4:55pm. Job done. If that is too tighter period then just bloody park in one of the side streets. It's easy enough to find somewhere to park less than 10 minutes walk away from Blundell Park.

If you park at 2:55 and have a 10 minute walk, you miss Town's first goal. It is easy (ish) to find a space in a side street now but it won't be when everyone has to do it.

I drive up with a friend of mine from the West Midlands so really don't know Grimsby very well but we always park on one of the side roads connecting to the Grimsby Road - so I guess we'll be ok!

"Having a restriction of two hours will prevent people parking cars there for two or three weeks at a time. We also feel it will allow sufficient time for people visiting the shops to do their business" They could introduce a no selling cars policy on the main road and limited parking times for businesses. The 2 hour policy is targeting GTFC's business model. Although I can't see it being a major issue if you park up at 14:45 and arrive just after 16:45 to get your car.

If its a ploy to stop second hand car sales I'd say the vultures will be called off on matchdays by the council as a PR exercise .
YEAH RIGHT THE FOOKING WANKRES ARE RUBBING THEIR HANDS TOGETHER THINKING ABOUT THE EXTRA CASH THEY'RE GOING TO RAKE IN FROM HAPLESS COUNCIL TAX PAYERS !!

Whether it's the new stadium or parking these "residents" are starting to get my goat.
So bascially it's "let's prevent cars clogging up the highway by clogging up the already clogged up sidestreets" ?
Sure THOSE residents will love that too !
If people are put off Grimsby Road businesses because they can't be bothered to walk a few yards from a sidestreet then are they really that bothered to start off with ?
Perhaps so but if you ask me this has the feel of the "badger cull" - i.e. let's potentially cause loads of hassle and suffering just so we might be a bit better off elsewhere.
Talk about timing, good move to bring out a 2 hour (fgs) rule NOW when gates are finally on the up.
And why are the club declining to comment when they're in danger of losing supporters in transit who may end up giving it all up as a bad job if it turns into a nightmare?
Tbf maybe it won't be a problem but on the face of it, it all seems a bit unnecessary and it's certainly a bit concerning.

On average, 9 cars are for sale at any one time. The residents will suffer for this.

I bet there is more than 9 pieces of dog excrement on the pavements in the surrounding streets, in fact you could probably build nine cars out of dog excrement and maybe the council will act

Mileage, the owners would only go a couple of streets so it looks like an easy £300

Councillors acting on a subject they have no idea about. I would like to challenge the councillor responsible to show good will to the poll tax paying supporters and give an alternative on match days such as free buses and park and ride paid for by the parking fines from this ill thoughtout policy. IMO this is designed to make more money from us or they would make it 3 hours. They are just a bunch of out of touch people voted in by a couple of hundred voters and have no interest in what football does for this town because if they did we would have had a new staduim bloody years ago.

They could quite easily change this to 4pm on match days allowing people to arrive after 2.

It already is an offence under the highways act and also under the clean neighbourhoods act (offering 2 or more cars for sale). Other councils just tow them away

But on the flipside they are removing most of the resident parking schemes in other areas of Town as the residents couldnt be bothered to respond !! Give in one hand and take with the other...proper politicians. Regardless of time of arrival i find if you are actually capable of reversing into a parking spot you can get parked within three streets of the ground anyway. Plenty of drivers roll straight past spots which they could fit into if they had the necessary skill. .....and not all of them women.

Not really a case of that for me, I sometimes walk all the way down Isaacs Hill and Grimsby Road. Guess it's more a case of arsing about finding your normal parking spot might have gone, reversing etc and making other plans. But yeah see your point hopefully it shouldn't be a big deal...

People aren't used to walking from the docks in clogs to the match like they did in your day I live near old clee church, I walk with my 75 year old father in law and a friend, takes us half an hour but the old man enjoy's it.
