No chance of Owen being recalled, for starters he has not hardly even played this season

Seems to be a few whispers about Parker missing out due to injury.

Whilst i am not THAT bothered above the media hype surrounding the selection I would want to make sure that those selected are actually fit enough to play.

Far too often in tournaments we have gone into them with players carrying a knock making them doubtful for games. I suspect that Ferdinands back problems have played some part in his non selection  and if Parker is injured with only a 50/50 chance of recovery in time for the first game, then he too should be left at home.

It isnt going to happen but i'd have a youthful side rather that the tried and trusted failures. I'd leave Terry and Ferdinand behind and probably Lampard too

What I'm saying is if someone isn't getting regular football, would it not be beneficial to take someone who is?

Depends how good they are. I'd much rather have 2 good players who have played half a season (and like you say, are fresh) than 2 average players who have played every week.

Plus, Milner can fill in quite a few positions.

You only have to look at some of the stats to realise that since the start of the premier league there is now far less English players playing now in the prem than its inception back in 1992

Just after England's glorious Euro 92 campaign!

Having said that, A.Johnson and Milner would be fresher than most

You may have stumbled on something there, people are always moaning about players being tired. Why not take a few that have played 25-35 games in all competitions. They'll be fresh and match fit at the same time.

I'm not serious by the way

Confirmed team:
Hart Green Ruddy
Johnson Jones Terry Lescott Cahill Cole Baines
Walcott Downing Oxlade-Chamberlain Gerrard Barry Lampard Parker Young Milner
Defoe Rooney Welbeck Carroll

Near enough what I'd have gone for, only I'd have Sturridge and A.Johnson in for Downing and Defoe

Shame not to see Richards (for Johnson), A Johnson (for Downing) and Sturridge (for Carroll) in there; otherwise fairly happy with all of these.

Ok squad.

Would rather have Lennon than Walcott and Crouch or Holt instead of Carroll and Defoe.
