Yuup light snow now showing on forecast for all day Friday ! More worried that the pitch don't freeze with the extreme drop in overnight temperatures. Went out yesterday and grass around the area was quite soft n mushy, but by 7 pm frozen solid ! Never mind Elding will sort it out!

from the looks of the elding photo in the telewag they have left the snow on the pitch, which insulates it, so suspect it'll be amass effort on saturday morning to get rid of the covering

I find that the best way to look for weather forecasts is to keep trying different web sites until you find one you like the best.

Most of them are rather inaccurate for N.E. Lincs in any case because the Humber to the North, North Sea to the East and Wolds to the West give us a type of microclimate. One of the reasons we often miss bad weather in comparison to surrounding areas.

Picking and choosing at least means you can feel good about the forecast regardless of what will eventually happen.

As a rule of thumb, I find that the local BBC weather report tends to be pretty rubbish, even in comparison to other forecasts.

Even the met office app changes or updates from one hour to the next. It shows Friday light snow all day. Just hope our micro climate stops it settling.

I would've thought they would keep any snow that fell on the pitch, on the pitch. They do that to insulate the grass to stop it freezing don't they? Our pitch doesn't often have problems and hopefully it may be slightly bobbly, York would bloody hate playing on a bobbly pitch.

Couldn't we do what St Neots did last weekend to help enhance the chance of there game been on. Here's a video of what they did

http://www.thefa.com/Competiti.....ff-frozen-pitch.aspx

With us expecting a big crowd it must be worth trying anything we can to get the game on, both financially and to keep the momentum going on the pitch. Im sure we can get some fans to help out and do it.  Looks like its working to thaw that pitch out too.

I've seen the Leicester Tigers use over soil heating but that was basically big blowers lent to them by caterpillar blowing into sheeting (a bit like a non erected marquee)

It's snowing here in Cleethorpes! If it keeps on coming down at this rate, we'll have an inch or two by 2013.

inch of snow is good people.

Keep the frost off, it have to be and inch though might just get away with it, bearing in mind its the walkways around bp and the stands that could get it called off.

Tis quite bad here... near Trinity Road. I didnt think it would settle as the ground was quite wet, but it is a blanket of white out there again now.
I am prepared to do my best michelin man impression on Saturday with ooooodles of layers.

My theory, If it snows and covers the ground it may insulate the areas that are playable at the moment, then on Saturday then snow can be shoveled off thus allowing the game to be played!

We are copulated though if it frozen under the snow though

when i spoke to mike groundsmen at half ten this morning he rated it 50/50 that it would be on,with all this snow and ground still frozen under findus stand id say 20/80 chance of it been on.

The shadow of the findus does not allow the sun to defrost that side of the pitch. So with the forcast for no more than 1 or 2 degrees i think we'll have the afternoon off.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play.
It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfullness,
disregard of all rules and a sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence;
In other words it is war without the shooting.

Below freezing outside still though the sun is now out.

If the pitch was frozen before the snow fell yesterday, surely it will be staying frozen under the snow, especially as it is forecast to be a cool day before heading subzero again?

I think it very unlikely that the game will be on.

-4 forecast for tomorrow during early morning, just hope the playing surface is playable under the layer of snow. The ground wasn't frozen here last night. I detest this waiting game n snow !!

Well, the club is hopeful it will be on which may or may not be a good sign, depending on how competent you think they are.

If it was just the section of the pitch in the shadow of the Findus which is frozen, I dare say the ref will let the game go ahead.

Not sure about the call for a 7.00am start for clearing the pitch, however, as I expect it will still be below freezing until after 9.00am - they might clear it only to have it freeze solid afterwards!

Common sense would be to clear the main stand side of the snow early morning and work on the findus side after 10am. If the club are confident it'll be on the grouns under the snow mustn't be to bad

Maybe parts of the ground could do with a sprinkle of salt and also surrounding streets ? the game will be on if we all can chip in and help
