v Middlesbrough, circa 1985. We won 3-2 and a certain Brian Laws played for Boro. I still have the programme somewhere. I was 13 and all I recall that day were the wire fences in place at that time.

I can understand that those were the days when footballers had to work but it must have caused some hassle for the fans with the missus regards the Christmas dinner.

If I recall it was a late morning kick off but all the blokes were drunk anyway so few got home in a fit state to eat lunch even if it was timed for 2 or 3 pm, most of them at the back of the Barratt had bottles of whisky or rum in their overcoat pockets. Quite funny at full time as many 100s if not 1000s had arrived by bike! We played the return game on 27th December at Bramall Lane and lost that 2-1 as well

Could you imagine that today? They'd all be in the back of a black maria after trying to enter the ground.

Night game on a Cold Tuesday night at BP, I sat on the rail around the Imperial Corner advertising boards. We beat Port Vale 4-1 I think. Would of been 1993/94 season? And I got a touch of the match ball, lol

Grimsby 3-0 Hartlepool, opening game of the 1977-1978 season. Joe Waters got a hat trick! My dad supports Hartlepool and we left before the end (long time before that happened again LOL) http://www.thefishy.co.uk/story.php?id=7988358

Easter 82, Town v Barnsley. 2-0 down at half time. I sometimes wish it had ended 2-0 then the bug wouldn't have bitten. Regrettably, Joe Waters had other ideas...

23rd April 1984. We drew 0-0 with Cambridge and I was sat in the Upper Findus with my dad. As a five year old it's a shame I can't remember any of the players as we had some team back then.
My first season Tickets were the two promotion seasons under Sir Alan. Used to sit in the Main Stand with my Aunty and Uncle just behind the home dugout and loved to see Buckley lose his rag time and again.
Halcion days indeed.

That's very true...my son's first game was at Rushden 2003 where we managed to throw away a 1-0 lead and lose 3-1 but he's looking forward to going there again next season. I don't know if I'm happy or sad for him because he's now 11 and watching Town regularly seems to be getting well into his blood....better get ready for a life of mixed emotions which is something watching as a plastic prem fan you never really experience

Town 3-2 Watford. First home game of 1992/93 season.
I remember going to a friendly game at BP against Gainsborough before that season started too, which i always remember because of the referee making Dave Gilbert take a free-kick 3 times (scoring the first 2 but missing the 3rd).

Same as myself and Green27 too. I remember I got a kids free voucher from school and begged my Dad to take me. All I remember from the game is some bald guy for them (Agnew?) and thinking that he must surely be too old to be playing football.

Cold tues night in April 1990. Grimsby 1 Peterboro2. It was Buckleys first promotion year from div 4 to div 3. Had won 6/7 in a row prior to that match so my dad took me to see my first match and we ended up losing. Set me up well

I have no idea, but I was stood in the old Barrats I think. I remember Tony Ford was playing though. He was the only one I knew for some reason...!
My first EVER game was at Sincil Bank watching Lincoln v Colchester. We live in a pub in Lincoln and some locals took me along to a game when I was about 4-5. I remember it vividly as these 2 clown thought it's be great to start chanting "COLCHESTER!" To which the half a dozen Gimps to our left all chanted back "excrement!" And so it went on! Hated Lincoln ever since!

That's the one...Macca somehow missed his chance which would have been an equaliser for us and then about 30 seconds later they went down and scored to make it 3-1

Can't remember my first game as i initially started going to sell the Sports Telegraph in 1970/71 season.
Would get knocked from pillar to post standing outside the Imperial Avenue gates trying to sell them once the game kicked out.Soon got fed up and spent most of my time watching the game instead of selling papers.
I was quickly relieved of my duties but have been going ever since.

We played Donny twice in the month of August that season. We beat them 4-3 at night in the League Cup and then 3-1 in the league. Both were night games.

Town 3 Newport 0. First match of the re-election season of 1968-69. Talk about false dawns....

Notts County F.A. Cup on a tuesday night in Feb 1984...think it was 4th round Second Replay...Town won 4-2. Sat in the Upper Findus. Went again the following saturday when we played Blackburn Rovers and Drew 1-1. My Brother was a Ball boy for that game!

My first away game was 05-05-90 Lost 2-0 to Chesterfield - last game of the season in Div 4, Town where already promoted though Very hot, loads of trouble, Town fans climbing up the floodlights! Great first game!

We played Donny twice in the month of August that season. We beat them 4-3 at night in the League Cup and then 3-1 in the league. Both were night games.
You are correct. Sorry about that
