Over 5000 season tickets sold . All the money from last season ......I will be happy if town finish over them next season cause I'm guessing that will mean we win the league

They haven't signed anyone yet though, yes they held their own against one off games in the cup against better sides but over a 46 game season, I'm not sure their side is good enough to compete at the top end.

Depends, really. I'd say that it was an unusually strong division last season with Portsmouth, Plymouth and Donny much bigger than the usual clubs at this level. Could perhaps be a bit weaker this season as those coming down aren't that 'big' but perhaps for Coventry though they've got all sorts of other problems at the moment.

I expect you'd have to say that Mansfield are the team to beat, considering the amount of cash they are obviously splashing around.

They will find, just as Cheltenham did last season in League 2, that they're going to need a bit more quality to do well in this league.  Without much quality you can only get so far by being well organised and pumping it forward to a lump upfront.

Lincoln were very well organised last season, a clear system in open play, pressed the opposition very quickly, got the ball wide, sling it in to the back stick towards Rhead and score.
They are a little less direct than traditionally but they still had a long throw and set piece threat aerially.  We were up and around the right end of the table last season despite never really having a settled system in place.
I imagine their system wont change much and organisational wise knowing what you are doing is a great starting point.
So much of their game did evolve around Rhead though, anything happens to him and they might faulter.

That's an unbelievable effort. It's shows what you can do with a following wind, they had possibly the best season they will ever have, but got their tickets out early and picked up on the positivity. It really teaches our club a bit of a lesson, ours had only just gone on sale this time last season and the buzz was dampened.

If we'd have put ours on sale earlier and been cleverer about how we sold them, more incentives, people putting season ticket booklets through all doors in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, people standing on street corners and on the sea front on sunny days and made a bigger effort to retain Toto, Podge and Nath (which I'm sure we could have done had Hurst really wanted to) then we could have easily put another 1000 on I'm sure, not convinced we'd have reached 5000 though.

Expectations from their fans will be 'sky-high', to say the least. With cash resources most teams at this level can only dream about, and a managerial pair who obviously have their feet firmly on the ground, I would expect them to be in the top 7 or thereabouts. But as we know, soccer is a funny old game, and fans are fickle should performances 'sag'. In this respect, It is possible that some of their players, having expended so much effort in their cup and league efforts, will simply crash and burn this season as some at Leicester did in 2016-2017. Should Raggett leave, much of their aerial threat at corners may depart too. Also, with retrospective penalties for simulation being imposed next season, Rhead could be in for a turbulent year. Interesting times at Sincil bank nevertheless.

Most of the 5,000 are fair weather fans, where have they been for the last 50 years ?

Half of them will not even turn up if Lincoln are playing shite and losing most games.

Al football fans are fickle including our own, when we are in crap form nobody wants to sit in the cold for months at a time watching a excrement show so they don't bother showing up. Difference is we have less people willing to commit to a season ticket in general.

Jealousy is not a good look especially being jealous of Lincoln of all things. Where is all the bravado of last season talking about how we are a "big club" and Lincoln are a tinpot outfit that will never get out of that league never mind win it?

Agree and the Scunts stay in L1 with Donny,

That will create a lot of interest with 3 local derby's.

I don't think that will be the primary worry for the Cowleys if or more likely when Ragget leaves, I think they would be much more worried about solidifying  their defence rather than scoring the odd one or two from corners Herts.. Admire your attacking instincts though.

Agree, expect to see these words and phrases appear on Sky Sports News regularly next season..

It matters not Pete the moneys in the bank,  anyway if you have forked out for a season ticket the majority will go to matches whatever the results.

We've never played in the "Championship" though. Before big money took over we had plenty of experience in the same dividsion when it was called Division Two, and actually meant what it said.

Credit to Lincoln and I say that through gritted teeth, they had an amazing season last season and even though I hate the majority of their Bellringing, teeth missing, gurning fans, the club has captured the imagination of those half wits and made a packet on season tickets.

Just imagine if Town captured our imagination in the same way the gimps have done theirs.

I think they will do well if they can keep the management for the full season. The brothers will be on their way, one way or another, within 12 months. If they can't cut it then they will get the push, if they get results then I bet some clubs have already tapped them up.

Promoted clubs sometimes do get the adrenalin rush and keep up the momentum. Lincoln probably will. They remind me of Cambridge a few years ago with the same very simple physical style,  a bit of the old Wimbledon attitude as well. They may well be successful but they will find that there are not as many easy games in L2 and the brothers have to keep getting the maximum out of limited players.

I'm still not convinced they'll do that well. I see too many parallels with the Cheltenham team who were also incredibly well organised and had a helmet up from.

Cheltenham weren't minted from cup runs and massive season ticket sales though. Lincoln's attitude towards season ticket sales (get them on sale early to take advantage of momentum) is exactly what we should have done last season, but sadly we haven't got anyone with an ounce of marketing awareness working at the club.

If I remember rightly we were having a laugh on here about Cheltenham's poor start and putting it down to a failure to beef up the team with some signings. But like Chrisblor says they had no money. By the time they started doing some strengthening it was nearly too late.

I don't think Lincoln will be like that. They will get some points through sheer fitness, promotion adrenalin and hard work. We will probably see some replacements as well, especially if they get good cash for Raggett. Top of the wanted list will be a younger version of Rhead.

If you read the post you will note I said " Championship Level " ie the same level as the Championship, as it is now called. Maybe I should have written " second tier of English Football" to avoid confusion. How we played at that level is not the point I was making, regardless of experience. But I still think I am right in saying that when we played in the " old Division 2 " we didn't sell 5,000 season tickets.

Not bothered about lincoln but thinking about this on our side im getting wound up now, what takes us so long, season ticket renewals should be starting as soon as we know what division we're in, sales as soon as possible after, what takes so long, they dont have to print the books straight away, get it done!

not sure Leicester crashed and burned, more like they were found out and the shock element was no longer there. Will be the same with Lincoln, they wont be able to continue with the same tactic and be equally successful, they need to evolve and change/adjust slightly.

I am not sure we have ever sold 5,000 ST,

BUT

I can remember when Lincoln Scunny and Town were playing in the championship level which was then called division 2

We all had some great derby games with gates between 10,000 and 16,000.

We always sell season tickets early doors, now at 5400 and people now realising there are only 2000 pay on the day left so its self perpetuating people are buying because if they don't they might not get in.
When we play the teams with smaller away following we will have the SW ,when we play the likes of yourself, Notts, Mansfield ,Chesterfield you will have the SW.

Trevor Sinclair was blown away by our training thought it was at championship level when he watched a training session.
I sell training session for fans to attend 1st team training and everyone so far has been really impressed when they have attended.
It has raised a fair amount but the most important aspect is the fans connecting with the club.
Never seen the whole City behind the team like this ever.
