A weekend of from watching my beloved mariners me and my mate took the kids to the KC. God you do realise how far we have fallen and could have honestly cried. Daft things like you have to park miles away from the ground after spending ages looking for a spot two hours before kick off, people milling about two hours before kick off with chippys bookies newsagents pubs all busting at the seams with people. Walking down all the lovely walkways to the magnificent stadium in a steady but continuous stream of people. Waiting to pick up my tickets for ten minutes and then informing one of the many helpful staff my ref number which had been very helpfully txt to me. We then enter the stadium and find our seats and there are actually people sat next to me and people sat around me as far asthe eye can see........WEIRD!! Out come the teams to a barrage of music and screaming and shouting from the guy on the mic, you know really pumping up the atmosphere in the ground and getting eveyone in the swing of things great!! As for the football oh my god this is the iceing on the cake as to how we have fallen, all comfortable on the ball the passing the movement the space all players seemed to have unreal compared to the driffel we watch. The away end full of fans and the banter and the singing between both sets of fans was great and the best chant was 2000 west ham fans singing to hull fans who were streaming out with 5 mins to go 2 is there a fire drill is there a fire drill!! All in all a really sad eye opener for me and my lad as to how far we have fallen, how we have failed to move with the times and been left more than standing. How a footy match is suppose to be with atmosphere and people there etc, will we ever be back and see things like that again??.....deffo NO is the answer we are screwed big time but i will be back in the swing of things next week at vale and for the rest of the season supporting my town my team its what i and many others on here do but yesterdays experience does make me very very sad....UTM 4 EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Myself and several friends betrayed the club we love and watched our north bank rivals lose a dull game. There was nothing to interest us and we will each be watching GTFC until we die.

I was seeing a girl from Nottingham last season and went to a couple of their home games. Swansea in the play-offs being one of them. I agree that it's strange being in a stadium with atmosphere. I miss those days!

Try a game at the Ricoh Arena and you'll feel right at home.

I actually live in Leicester and I'm sure you'll agree that the atmosphere is lacking down The Walkers / King Power.

Live in Hull but never been tempted to go to a tahgers match. Precisely because it would leave me feeling sick, as it sounds like it did you.

One of the last times we played them at home was in the Buckley era,
Over 17,000 at the park saw us lose 5-1 ,
BUT
In the prevous 17 home games we had conceded only 4 goals,
Funny old game football.

Then drew at home to Chelsea in the next round when we should have beaten them but got beat in the replay - happy days.

I went to the Keerrr Ceee for the Chelsea game Mr Viv and have to agree its a fantastic stadium , along with Boltons Reebok where you get a great view wherever your sat - unlike Anfields away end which is shite. We will be back in the league one day Im sure.

Far and away the worst away day and atmosphere I've ever experienced at a Championship game.
This coming from someone who's been to Reading.
Best atmosphere in Leicester is on the Crumbie Terrace at Welford Road and Filbert Street was an absolute bear pit compared to the Crisp Bowl. I hate all the identikit midlands stadia - Walkers / Ricoh / Pride Park. But we've covered all this before, like most things in life (apart from deciding to go join the Euro), the Germans have got it right with their standing areas and far cheaper ticket prices.

Absolutely spot on. The Crumbie Terrace sold out is a great atmosphere, had many a good afternoon there. The Kop at Filbert Street (lower tier of the stand on my avatar for the unaware) was genuinely superb. I grew up on the terraces watching Premiership and European football and if it was half as intimidating for the opposition as it was fun for us, I can't imagine anyone looking to Leicester away very much. Chelsea paying a visit was always 'lively' if you know what I mean. A part of our soul as a club died when we moved, might sound trite but it's true. Only a handful of atmospheres at the Walkers have come close, most of them in the first couple of years after we moved. Generally speaking, I look forward to away days at hovels like Selhurst Park far more than any new builds. There are upsides to new grounds, but atmosphere isn't usually one of them. Stoke are an exception but I daresay there's a bit of fairweather fan culture going on there, I've been to the Britannia when they were a mid-table Championship side with 15-16,000 rattling around in there and it was as dead as any other new build. We need safe standing areas a la Germany if we're ever to recapture atmosphere in England, apparently Oxford are looking into having the fourth stand at the Kassam as a trial for safe standing and I hope it comes off.

Newcastle don't play at St James Park. In the same way Grimsby don't play at Blundell's Park.

Yes as an away fan Filbert was never an entirely comfortable place to go. My first visit however was when Town took over three sides of Filbert when we played Southampton in a second replay there in about 1976. Wisely Lawrie Mac didn't want to toss a coin for the second replay venue - he knew very well that Tuesday night at a packed Blundell Park would be like a cauldron. We pretty much made Filbert Street one that night but Soton outplayed us to win 4-1.
