Poor kid is missing our games at Aintree and Boris Green. Might make Asian Wedding but would like to revert back to the league as soon as possible so he can go back to Mattersfield and Ginningham, and maybe one day Mirrorsbrough

If he's the bloke I think you are talking about then get this.
Boston away game 2007, the guy came up to my son and me before the game and said to us that Town would win 6-0.
This was on the back of about eight or nine straight defeats. Well did we laugh?
What odds would you have got on that happening?

I will miss Graham at Braintree,

I get more sense out of him than I do Terry.

Surely you aren't that much of a sad twit to have made a thread that seems to be mocking someone who has a learning disability... Seen as I don't believe anyone of your age is that sad, can you explain what you are on about please...???

Can't think Terry's having a deliberate poke at Graham who is something of an institution, nay national treasure at Blundell Park, but it seems to have backfired spectacularly? He (Graham) still says hello every time he sees me, and sometimes my name as well, even though I've probably only seen him half a dozen times in the last 20 years. Top bloke.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

When you actually talk to Graham, he's like a GTFC history book.
Graham knew when Gary Birtles' birthday was without the need for books or internet.
I don't know who pseudonym is but shame on him for mocking Graham.

To be fair, Terry does think a lot about Graham and always sits next to him at the games,

It was meant to be lighthearted imo, but its backfired by the look of it.

I think Terry will come back on and apologise when he sees he has upset so many people.

Going back to Graham, he is a joy to be with at the match, he makes you laugh and his footy knowledge about town is second to none,

He always remembers me although I have not lived in Cleethorpes ( just around the corner from Graham ) for nearly 25 years.

I'm certain Terry did not mean to offend anyone with his comments. Graham is part of BP, and rightly spoken of in an affectionate way by all those that come across him. Times are changing though and whilst many of us would have known him as 'Dilly Graham' in the past, this is not really acceptable anymore and comments such as these are of course more pertinent to those with first hand experience of learning difficulties. Suggest that people take a step back and take Terry's post for what it was, and if there was genuine offence, I'm sure Terry will happily sort things via a PM rather than dragging things on any longer than is needed.

I got talking to Graham at Histon last season. He seems like a really nice bloke. I wish I'd asked him for a score prediction at half time.
Did Graham used to live near BP when he was young? I seem to remember my mates and I having to drag some lunatic off him who was intent on giving him a good kicking many years ago.

Is he autistic?

Used to see him a lot at the bus stop outside freshney and every time he was telling anyone who wanted to listen about town's last result + details. I doubt there is a more dedicated mariner!

Yes he did and still does live close to Blundell Park. If anyone had tried to give him a good kicking, they would have been on a loser. He was in a fight on the disabled coach several years ago and apparently does not feel pain when attacked. I would have taken him to Braintree but his sister wouldn't allow it as he would arrive home too late to be at Cromwell Road for work on Wednesday. He is always having a laugh with our travellers on the journeys

Oh well done, you are the sad p.rick you come across as being... and you have diagnosed us with learning disabilities...???

The fact you know his family is worse, surely you realise what the guy has been subjected to in his lifetime by morons thinking it's funny to take the urine...

Of course I didn''t really expect you to explain your reasons for starting the thread, which is one of the most pointless ever on this site and the reason I didn't expect you to explain it is because there can be no reasonable explanation...

Anyway you have plenty of issues yourself and I suggest until you sort your own inadequacies out you would be better not pointing out other people's...

Ha ha cheers bud!

The bloke I'm talking about was a serial idiot.
He once came into the ponny with a holdall full of spanners that he'd stolen. He was going to throw them at the players.......our players!
We got them off him before he could do any damage.
I once threw him into the sea when we'd been fishing and he butchered a plaice that he'd caught.
On another occasion I lumped him full on in the face with my Fender Telecaster when he invaded my band's stage at the Submarine.
What a moron!

pseudonym clearly made a post that back fired. I no for a fact that he wouldnt of ment it in a way to offend graham. I remember not that long ago him defending the disabled supporters on a thread (cant really remember what happened) He sounds to me like a sound bloke, he does help the disabled get to away matches etc. so i am pretty sure he has great respect for them, like anyone should have. Lets leave it now.

I love Graham, I remember Wigan away one Valentines Day (we won, so it must have been many years ago) and there being a female Policewoman close to us Town fans, Graham was infatuated with her.  It was lovely watching her trying to get away from him without trying to upset him.

I do know Terry and he is a good bloke, who would help anybody,

He is very close to Graham and cares about him,

Terry's comments were not meant to be offensive BUT it has backfired,

So imo he does not feel he has to opologise to people on here who do not know him,

BUT

I will be sitting next to him tonight ( if he does not hide away ) and I will give him a good bollocking from the ones he has upset.

I know graham,he use to get on the bus every morning just off ward street,he use to sit with my wife who use to work at the jewellers in town,he use to tell my wife all about town   he was a kind man, always had time for him,he use to go see my wife and take her a sandwich at dinner, this just shows the kind of gentle man he was.

Graham is a true town fan

Can we just cap it all now.

I am sure it has gone its full course and Graham who I have known since I was a player at Town is well respected by all genuine Town supporters.

Graham always makes a beeline to me when I go to the Imp before a game and always ask the same question "are we going to win today David"

let me tell you how we as players in the McMenemy days treat Graham Alan Campell the Irish full back we had use to buy Graham fish & chips every dinner time till it got stopped because his family rang the boss up to say that Graham was putting to much weight on and could we stop feeding him please

Everybody at Town have always had a soft spot for Graham, a harmeless indivuel who loves Grimsby Town and I might add gives him a goal in life.

If you think that I will apologise to the moronic element on this site, you can think again. I will refer to the thread from the backend of last season when certain people were slating our travellers. The thread was battlebus to Wimbledon. If I am to be barred/suspended from posting, that isn't a problem.

grahams ace, he does predict a lot of things like new players and scores. one time tho and this aint extracting the urine out of the man. I was on a 9x to town and graham sat at the front of the bottom deck reading a porno mag held high in the air, bare in mind the bus was packed and all ya could see was full nudity of women followed by the disgust of old grannies. haha class man indeed.

Those of you jumping on Terrys back know very little. Terry has looked after Graham at games for many years! Graham plays the daft lad at times. He knows when people are mocking him and he thinks the world of Terry and gives him stick back.

Ignore those who are quick to judge without knowing you or Graham.

Terry you Tosser....is my fave Graham quote

Oh well done, you are the sad p.rick you come across as being... and you have diagnosed us with learning disabilities...???

The fact you know his family is worse, surely you realise what the guy has been subjected to in his lifetime by morons thinking it's funny to take the urine...

Of course I didn''t really expect you to explain your reasons for starting the thread, which is one of the most pointless ever on this site and the reason I didn't expect you to explain it is because there can be no reasonable explanation...

Anyway you have plenty of issues yourself and I suggest until you sort your own inadequacies out you would be better not pointing out other people's...

will you stop overreacting?! You take things way too seriously...

Graham. Wow, there is a blast from the past for me. My sister used to be a teacher at Queens Street and Graham was one of her pupils. But really I remember him from a few years before when my uncle Fred was the groundsman at Blundell Park. Graham, known to Fred as Herbert, was a permanant fixture at BP then (he probably still is) and used to love his bit of banter with Fred.

Now, I don't know the OP (nor anyone else on here it seems), but I do think that the last person to get upset by the original comments would be Graham. His misprounouncing of team names was always one of those comically, endearing qualities and, together with the blue patch in his brown trousers, is one of the things that sprang to mind as soon as I started reading the post and thinking back to those days.......[drifts nostalgically back to the late 70s] ....oh to be a 4th division (and heading upwards) side again....

There's a crooked street in Grimsby Town
It's a well worn path I've travelled down
Now there's ruin in my name, I wish i'd never got off the train
And I wish I'd listened to the words you said....
...Don't go down to Freeman Street
Don't go down to Freeman Street
You'll be lost and never found
You can never turn around
Don't go down to Freeman Street

Those who know Pseudo KNOW he has a good relationship with Graham and didn't mean to offend anyone by his OP. Even I know that and I don't know either of them.

Now, the reason I asked Terry to post a small apology was for the fact that some people had already said they were angry at the original post (Old Codger and VOR to name the first 2) For Pseudo to then announce that he wasn't going to apologise to the "moronic element" of the site is plain arrogant.

Terry, you have offended people with the OP, unintentionally, I agree, but they are offended nonetheless. If you can't see that then your arrogance astounds me.

I apologised unreservedley for the "it must be like herding cats" quip that you're dragging up, despite nobody actually stating their offence. One poster PM'd me and stated that "the members of the travel club are not cats, but human being Town fans," and took "umbrance" (I assume he meant "Umbrage" but I digress,) to the quip. So, as I eventually agreed, after explaining it was not a literal statement, it was a quip, a figure of speech, a metaphor, I apologised to anyone that WAS offended and I managed to do so without actually calling anyone a moron or a saddo.

Once again, to make crystal clear, I KNOW you didn't mean to offend anyone with the OP Terry, but the FACT remains that people WERE offended by it. If you can't see to apologise for that then I suggest you don't post anything quite as contentious in the future.

Initially I thought that it was a cruel, pointless post,

Having read through the rest of the posts, it's seems that it's just taking the mickey out of a friend.  So now I just think it's a pointless post.  I do think that you're a bit of a fool for a) taking the mickey out of a friend in a public forum where not everyone knows the situation, b) not being big enough to apologise or realising the offence that it could cause and c) thinking that it's OK because you know him!

Knowing both Terry and Graham the mickey taking will have been done with affection and I'm sure was not meant to cause offence to anyone.  Graham certainly wouldn't have been offended and, at the end of the day, that's all that matters, isn't it?

I don't disagree, my point is that not everybody knows these two and would jump to the same conclusion that I did.  I can see how others who do know people with learning difficulties may take offence, even if Graham doesn't.  I don't think an apology for what was said is as important as acknowledging that this was perhaps not the best forum (in the wider sense of the word) for taking the mickey.  Otherwise it just seems to read as though it's OK to take the mickey out of those with learning difficulties, as long as you know someone with learning difficulties.

So we can take the pi55 out of deaf people because they can't hear us and the blind because they can't see us?
If you know someone well, it doesn't matter if you mock their mental health issues because they're your mate - yep, that seems logical.
Whether or not it was intended to cause offence is irrelevant, it certainly upset some people on here.
I've worked with people who have various disabilities and believe it or not, they do have feelings.
If anyone thinks that mocking the way that Graham speaks is amusing or feels the need to post it on a public forum to amuse others then maybe this board should have a 'taking the mickey out of the disabled' section.

Read the first page of posts. Old Codger was certainly offended.

If one person complains about a post, I will ask the poster to remove or do it myself. The people that DON'T know Terry or Graham or their relationship are the ones that would look at the OP and think Terry is mocking the afflicted. He isn't, we know that, but they don't. Remember this board is global after Poojah's rant the other year and there are people out there that read it that are not familiar with the 2 in question so it reads as a pisstake of someone with learning difficulties.

If Terry chooses to not apologise, that's up to him, but it's pretty arrogant of him not to accept he may have overstepped a line with what he put.

So have I (for 33 years actually) and I take your point...but, on the other hand, it is also easy to fall in the trap of being patronising too.  We all take the p*ss out of our mates, does the fact that they may have a learning disability preclude them from that?  If it is part of the banter between Graham and Terry then that is fine as long as Graham isn't insulted.

Agreed, but not everyone does it on a public forum, where it is not clear that it is taking the p*ss out of our mates, and where it looks like it's just generally taking the p*ss.

If you think that I will apologise to the moronic element on this site, you can think again. I will refer to the thread from the backend of last season when certain people were slating our travellers. The thread was battlebus to Wimbledon. If I am to be barred/suspended from posting, that isn't a problem.

You stick to your guns mate.

Ive known you a long time although you wont know me from my username, but for people to criticise you over something as daft as this is just stupid. If we cant say something on a forum that might upset somebody, somewhere when it was clearly a joke between friends is ludicrous.

Yes I respect people who have to contend with all sorts of things in their personal lives, but it wasnt meant for them was it?

perhaps people should find out a little bit more about the relationship between the individuals before passing the verdict "GUILTY",when its quite clear to people who do know the individuals that this is not the case!

Should you have to do that on a public forum?  Doesn't that just proves the point that a suitable forum for this type of banter would be somewhere that those relationships are known i.e. email or face to face?

It doesn't outrage me but I don't agree that it was a joke between the two of them. It was a joke between Pseudonym and everybody who reads this forum about Graham wasn't it?

The way I see it, it was an off the cuff remark towards a mate that had no malice intended. Maybe here is not the place to post such comments, but ffs lighten up people, there's enough in the world to be outraged at without making a mountain out of a molehill just for the sake of it. Some people just aren't happy unless they're moaning about something, and boy there is plenty of ammunition down at the park just now!

If people wish to take the pi55 out of their mates, its up to them in their own time and way.
If it appears on a public forum, then some users of that forum may find it offensive.
Personally, I do find the mocking of Graham's speech offensive but I also understand the context in which it was written between mates.
Times have changed since the internet has become a popular place for communication. Forums are interactive, people can reply to comments and criticise them. None of us are going to change our opinions on the matter but we can voice our own. Anyway, how's Pete Bore getting on.

I spoke to Terry at Braintree, he thought he would be TOTW,

So lets end this now and vote for Terry as TOTW and forget all about it.

The people who know Terry understand it was meant as a bit of fun, no more,

I know Graham would have not have taken offence.

I agree with what you say Tarka, only Graham doesn't post on here so it wasn't a bit of banter between two mates was it...??? This was more like Terry taking the urine, looking for a laugh from others...

Regardless of whether there was any malice or not, there was and is no point to the thread at all and just makes Terry look like a sad individual...

Oh and just to point out, I hadn't made any complaint to Biccys nor anyone else Flash, maybe Biccys feels the thread was uncalled for also....

Those of you jumping on Terrys back know very little. Terry has looked after Graham at games for many years! Graham plays the daft lad at times. He knows when people are mocking him and he thinks the world of Terry and gives him stick back.

Ignore those who are quick to judge without knowing you or Graham.

So by the logic of pseudonym and others we can tell "ist"  jokes on here so long as it's about about someone we know and that the butt of the joke won't take offence regardless of whether it offends others.

Let's see how we get on.

I know of Graham to say hello to, but I found the original post a bit cruel. I dont know Terry so cant comment on your friendship, but it drunk me off a little bit purely because I teach young adults with learning difficulties and I am fully aware of the verbal abuse they can receive on a regular basis.

If it was banter and Dilly is a poster then fair enough, but as far as im aware he doesnt use this site, so I think it was a little harsh to write what you did.

The thread that I was referring to "Battlebus to Wimbledon" never even mentioned the "herding cats". That was a totally different thread !!! I have other reasons for not sending any apologies on this site which I will keep to myself.

So as long as you know someone very well it is OK to insult them either in the street or on a public message board regardless of who is reading or within earshot.
Perhaps, in Graham's case, he could control his weight by dieting but an insult aimed at his mental health is aimed at something permanent which he has no control over.

The point is Ian, people on here did say they were offended, even if no offence was meant.

The test for offence is an objective one. I.E. if offence was caused it was offensive.

A final question:
Is it acceptable to insult people with a disability on this message board
a) YES
b) NO
c) ONLY IF YOU KNOW THEM

Fookin ell... Ive just read this thread from top to bottom.. and I cant believe some of the shite on it.... sorry its all a bit OTT

I have met Graham about 20 times , he speaks to me as if he knows me well and I do the same back.. even
tho we only ever meet on very rare occasions.. he's always one for a bit of banter... and he dishes it out well...

he has pulled my leg on many occasions and I think some folks are giving him a great disservice on here..

he knows what is what... and I can also same the same for Pseudo... ffs lets all get things into proper perspective here

Ive not met Pseudo as often as Graham, but always have the same chat , banter and respect for each other.  ( altho I do
believe he tried to break my leg a cuppla times in the Lindsey League... many years ago...)

OK folks... time to get back to more serious things like Celebrity Big Brother... pleeeeeze....

I know Terry well, I know Graham (most Town fans do)
It's been blown out of all proportion in my opinion.
I advise those who are offended do not listen to Chubby Brown or similar such "comedians", you'll be more offended.
I'll most probably get slated for this but just look at some of the insults that have been mentioned on this board from one individual to another. People even picking up on others spelling or grammar, how do they know who the other person is. Perhaps some posters should treat others with more respect, but unfortunately I think that word is going/gone out of fashion.

Come on fella's let's not resort to name calling I know it's an emotive subject and people have let their feelings be known.

Graham in the past has had some terrible abuse but over the years people have seen Graham for what he is and that's a GTFC mad fella.  His getting the team or players names wrong is one of his quirks and I know people who do the same. It doesn't matter who says it, but it does raise a smile and I believe Terry in this case was highlighting one of Grahams funnies.  There is no malice intended by Terry and I'm sure if he'd taken time to tell the story with a bit more background it wouldn't have caused such offence.  Graham gets excited when talking about Town and when he does he slips up with team or players names.  If you'd spoken to Graham his love for Town is infectious and he really is a lovely gent.  Terry isn't a malicious person and for some, this has painted a bad picture of him which, isn't the case.  Terry can be a funny fella, when he tries   but he is sincere and dare I say, honest.  Hand on heart I would say that Terry would do anything to help Graham and it's just sad that this thread has gone the way it has.

I'm not speaking for Terry or Graham but knowing them both I felt I needed to put things in the right light.  People often forget that just because we chat on here that some of us haven't met or know anyone who has met various posters.  Familiarly through this message board can often lead to people thinking you know all about them when you don't.  I can see both sides of this thread and the reasons why and hopefully we can put this to bed now.

People who go and see Chubby Brown are expecting to see a racist bigot comedian, people who come on a football forum expect to talk about football.

When we played at Lincoln in the Senior Cup Final, Graham went into the Lincoln club office to obtain a £2 concession ticket (unknown to me until after the game by the way) only to be asked that he must prove that he is mentally handicapped !!! If I had known at that time then the "annual travel club childish wobbler" would have been thrown at them in their office

I wasn't going to comment until I saw that you have referred to Graham as Dilly. As an alledged teacher of young adults with Learning disabilities, how long would you have your job if you were overheard calling one of them Dilly?

whs - speechless!

There's a crooked street in Grimsby Town
It's a well worn path I've travelled down
Now there's ruin in my name, I wish i'd never got off the train
And I wish I'd listened to the words you said....
...Don't go down to Freeman Street
Don't go down to Freeman Street
You'll be lost and never found
You can never turn around
Don't go down to Freeman Street
