If he does go and the fee is £150,000 then I would think that was good business considering we got him for nothing.
But the overriding FACT is that given all the "good business" we've done over the years(obviously that doesn't include players like Ryan Bennett), we're in financial trouble losing money whilst we're in the BSP. Let me ask you, how are we gonna plug this financial gap year upon year whilst we're losing money in the BSP ? Unless S&H are wonders in the transfer market or a youth team gem emerges, we won't ! Surely the answer must be to get out of the BSP asap ?!! I also feel the club have got it's knickers in a twist and trying to fight a war on two fronts. 1) promotion. 2) trying to tighten our belts. Surely you can't realistically do 2) and hope to achieve 1), the 2 don't mix !
He could stay, not be the same player next season and leave next June for nothing.
A bit negative...

Come on, cemetries are full of indispensible people. The team will still function. I am sure S & H had plans to cover the loss of Alan as it was always going to be a possiblity for the right money. If the right offer has come in then town should accept it and move on. I reckon Hearn's signing was as a potential replacement for Alan.

Shame it isn't a direct link cos there's nothing on Walsall's page on that site - 5 minutes ago - , unless it's under dodgy rumours ???

Didn't Hurst say it wasn't ?

He would say that wouldn't he. I am sure S & H would be happy to have them both but had to be mindful that AC may be on his way. Sensible planning in my opinion.

Well firstly, the fact you've assumed he could be heading back down south instead of playing League 2 football with us says something about our ambition. If you want a fee, there's a chance to wait until January and see where we are...
More importantly, I don't think it would make financial sense. We're talking about £100,000 when the playing budget is £900,000. Had the playing budget been £1,000,000 instead of £900,000 would you have been up in arms about it ? I doubt it ! As I've said elsewhere if the club need to sell for £100,000 then why was the budget set at £900,000 and not £800,000 in the first place ? Who knows there may be internal cashflow factors but from where I'm standing the whole logic makes little sense...
I find that rather curious logic. 100k is 100k and where we are we are a selling club for that sort of money particularly as we now have Hearn on the books. I find your logic flawed because the club is budgeting to lose 800k this season and if it only lost 700k that must be better, reducing the anticipated loss must surely be a good thing particularly i it does not affect the playing budget. I would not expect the money from his transfer to go into the player budget. Having said that I hope we can resist the offers, but it must be very tempting.

Hmmm, I wonder what we would have said had we dipped into the transfer market to sign a top goalscorer for £100K ? Oops, maybe we are !

I agree but what is the plan to avoid financial strife though icey ? Even Pete says don't expect Fenty to finance the club forever.... We can sell our best players til the cows come home but with no Ryan Bennetts on the books, how is the club gonna survive long term if we don't get out the BSP ?
