I wonder what clause, if any, McAtee has in his Luton contract for if they get promoted to the Premier League this weekend. I reckon he will have most likely doubled or more his GTFC wages in his move to the Hatters, but with promotion to the PL he will be rolling in it, but still wont be anywhere close to his brothers wage

The more pertinent question for me is - where will JM be playing his football next season, because I can’t see him getting into Luton’s first team just yet;, whether they’re Champ or PL. And, if the current Luton Manager, who didn’t sign him, actually rates or wants him.

I suspect, if the rumours are true, and it’s likely they are, he’ll be keeping his head down and trying to prove he is someone who values a professional career and wants it enough.
He’ll got to a league 1 club you’d imagine, regardless of todays result for Luton…

Yeah, this exactly. His application will need to be 24/7. Closing down a full back with a flying block does not equal complete professionalism.

The chap who was in the queue outside Wybers fish shop told me that his sister ( the sister of the man in the queue )said that her sister was talking to a man in a queue outside a fish shop ( not Wybers ) who asked for fish and chips twice and a fishcake with scraps on the fishcake but not on the chips as they were for a neighbour who was on a diet. Any way to get to the point this neighbour who was on a diet goes to that new gym on the seafront and gets talking to one of the fellow customers who had just bought a pair of shoes from Pavers. She said that she had tried to return them as they were giving her blister but Pavers were reluctant as she had trodden in some goose excrement when she went for a walk round the boating lake. - told me that he wouldn't be loaned to Town.

Given we effectively cut his loan short, not sure Hurst would have him back now…

Yep. Flying around into challenges in the first half is all well and good if you're winning games early doors, but doesn't do a lot to help the team if you're pulling up with cramp not much after the hour mark when the team is chasing a game. He got by through innate ability during our promotion season but didn't get the fitness or consistency right last season after he'd recovered from his early surgery. I expected him to do much better for us last season and it's make or break for him next season. If he starts making the right choices both on and off the pitch, he could have a good career as a Championship/League One player. I reckon it will be a loan to a L1 club - Stevenage, would be my guess.

I have heard the same story and I can add a few scraps (of information that is) it turns out the one who didn't want scraps, the one on the diet not the one who had a stutter who ordered fish and chips twice was actually JMD which is why he moved back down south because they don't serve scraps down there.

After 4 goals and 4 assists? Not for me, definitely not from someone who was supposed to be the player that stuff goes through. Achieved near modern day legend status for his performances in 21/22 but last season he was pretty poor. Mitigating circumstances in terms of his fitness and the system we played/didn't play. But for 80% of the time he didn't even look effective in League Two.

Mitigating circumstances agreed. I think he felt under pressure to show how good he can be and it held him back. For me, if we had the right system/type of players around him, it would be an absolute no brainer to have him back here. It will be very difficult to get someone better in my opinion. If fit and in the right team he is minimum a top league 2 player, likely much more than that.

McAtee's last season was blighted by injury.
When fully fit, as in his first season, he has graced Town - his movement, commitment and willingness to go for goal are great.
He's got the team and the crowd going so many times (yeah...when fully fit). Proper star quality.
The Solihull, Wrexham and Chesterfield goals are terrific memory moments, just for starters.
I'm sorry he's leaving us, and hope that he dazzles and produces wherever he plays next.
Also, he prefers mushy peas to scraps. Top man.

That's crazy because i was stood outside a chip shop and a chap who was in the queue (outside Wybers fish shop) told a strange looking bloke who was just infront of me in the queue that his sister ( the sister of the man in the queue )said that her sister was talking to a man in a queue outside a fish shop ( not Wybers ) who asked for fish and chips twice and a fishcake with scraps on the fishcake but not on the chips as they were for a neighbour who was on a diet. Well done Luton, hope & inspiration for all clubs.
We helped by knocking them out of the cup of course allowing them to focus on the league.
Let’s await the premier league getting p1ssy with them about Kenilworth Rd.

So Southampton (who we beat in the cup this year) are replaced in the Prem by Luton (who we beat in the cup this year) who in turn are replaced in the Championship by Plymouth (who we beat in the cup this year).

So Southampton (who we beat in the cup this year) are replaced in the Prem by Luton (who we beat in the cup this year) who in turn are replaced in the Championship by Plymouth (who we beat in the cup this year).
Just saying.
I am expecting more next year Ron Beat Man U who will europa league winners , beat West Ham who will be Euro Conference winners and beat Man City who will be EPL and Champions league winners . We will be recognised as the best team in the world this time next year .

£120m in £10m out that’s the sort of failure I would like
Yeah good luck to them, if Bournemouth can do it anyone can. Fulham have been yoyoing over the last 5 years, just a pity for Luton the new stadium isn't already in place. Blackpool haven't had a too bad a ride since dropping from the Premiership, even the leeches there sorted the ground out.

If I was the Luton chairman I’d try and have a go with the players that got them promoted. Bank as much of that 120 million as they can and get the new ground paid for. This would set them up for the next 50 years which is better than spunking the cash on a load of foreign players and agents fees and still getting relegated anyway

Pepple there milking it in the post match celebrations but no sign of Mcatee
That's because Macatee hasn't been part of the 2022/23 squad, whereas Pepple has, Macatee is also in holiday getting smashed every day right now.

McAtee is/was on holiday.
Regards the money, like someone has said above hopefully they'll be sensible. Spend £10m+ on the current ground and just get a handful of players at a low price and keep most of the prem money to set them up for the next 10, 20, 30 years. The way they play is so different to any other prem club, it'll be interesting how they get on.

On his form last season he wouldn't get in a decent league two side. Unless he sorts himself out quickly his career with will go nowhere

I have heard the same story and I can add a few scraps (of information that is) it turns out the one who didn't want scraps, the one on the diet not the one who had a stutter who ordered fish and chips twice was actually JMD which is why he moved back down south because they don't serve scraps down there.
It's about time they charged for scraps, they are not free to produce, don't they know there's a race on, Who can put food prices up the most quickest

It won’t happen but I don’t see them spunking the cash on crap either. The recruitment has always been very astute and just look at the squad they have now. Most of the players have been lower league players they’ve recruited and took on the journey. Lockyer was part of the Bristol Rovers non league when they beat us, Adam Berry was part of the Cambridge side that won the NL. Mpanzu has been part of the squad since the conference. Took Adebayo from Walsall. The list in endless.. Another Brighton/Brentford in the way they go about recruitment and the players they sign.

With that current squad I don/t see a single win in the PL for them, they have done what others have done for years, i.e. Peterboro, which they pinch the best players from teams below them. I use to hate Peterboro for this thinking they had some god dam right haha. Good luck to Luton though, one can only dream.

Would be nice if there was a promotion add on payment to us as part of the McAtee transfer fee, as there was with Dembele. Probably a long shot though..

Well he didn’t do anything to get them promoted. Apart from not being ineligible to play for us against Luton. We still beat them anyway thus allowing Luton to concentrate on getting promotion.

I am reliably informed that Leeds forward, Gnonto is in talks with Luton. Leeds want between £20-25 million…..

That happened quickly or not correct as Luton only got promoted on Saturday, there's no way they'd have been courting a player of that value before the POF.

Luton would be daft to spend that amount of money on one player, and Gnonto will more likely end up as a developing player for a top six club if/when he leaves Leeds..The hidden cost in the Prem is the annual wage bill. Luton will have £50m tops to spend on transfers, especially with a new stadium being more pressing and the chance to fund it without legacy debt..
