One of the original "Originals" of the SAS was a Grimsby man, James Blakeney. He was a member of the 'Tobruk Four' (look them up) who perfected techniques in warfare that are still used by the SAS nowadays.

Every England fan interviewed before an international match is a cockney, yet every flag in the ground says either Grimsby, Hartlepool or Carlisle on it.

Mikel Arteta’s hair is blacker than priests socks.

Brian Laws has the straightest hair in football, blunted the scissors of every barber in Grimsby and his jealousy of Ivano’s curls was the real cause of the Battle of Kenilworth Road.

Still a taboo subject, but the Grimsby Chums had one of their soldiers executed for murder. Fortunately in this case he wasnt a local man, having joined from another Regiment late in the war. Private Joseph Chandler, who served under the alias of Joseph McIntyre, was shot on the 11th August 1919. He was from Gateshead-on-Tyne

BUT

Grimsby did have one soldier who was Shot at Dawn. Serjeant George Edward Gleadow, born in Hull, but had lived in Grimsby for at least 20 years before WW1. He was executed on 6th April 1917. He had been a career soldier having joined the 3rd Lincolnshire Regiment in 1905 on his 18th birthday. He later joined the East Yorkshire Regiment, but at the time of his death we was in the West Yorkshire Regiment.

Given the fact that the average Grimsby docker was probably in a dehydrated state in the early hours of the morning, their pïss was probably pretty ammonic.

If they did pïss on the fish, surely nobody would have bought it or eaten it, as it would have smelled like week old turbot.

Surely better to wänk on the cod to enhance the taste of the sea.
