Couldn't fault anyone last night. They left it all out there but ultimately they came up against a very, very good side. Reserves or not, Forest have some excellent players and a number of them were on show last night. A bulk of that side will grace and impress in the Premier League this season.
They never really got out of second gear but you could argue that we never gave them chance to do so either. Our energy and press was high and effective all game.
Would have been interesting had Smith and Glennon started. Smith for his speed and composure at the back with Glennon just for his deliveries. The lads how came in definitely didn't disgrace themselves though and of course if Smith was in, Efete's at right-back which means we had no Cropper throw-in which caused problems until he went off.
With the packed midfield we overloaded them but with nowhere for it to go forward, then going to a 4-4-2 we had more up top but couldn't quite get a hold of it in midfield as much. But throughout some of our football was really neat and tidy. The introduction of Wearne makes us move it quicker and with intent. Morris was my MOTM, won every second ball all game but everyone put in a fine performance.
Onto Saturday where it'll be a completely different opposition altogether and you can guarantee we won't get the freedom to play football like that.

How do you see/judge the first few weeks? I think the word Id use is promising..Orient best side in League we’ve seen - matched them 1st half..Northampton..should’ve won that, we were the better side throughout. Rochdale..battered early on but showed tenacity/resolve, got the better of them and won..Sutton..made it difficult..the aforementioned problems mentioned above..drew but could have nicked it.
Differently to you. I think we've looked like a bottom half team. Orient were better than us but not by much. Rochdale should have beaten us. Sutton outbattled us in the middle of the park but were poor at either end although we were also poor going forwards. Northampton we were the better side. Probably got a point more than we deserve on performance terms I think we've got a battling side that is missing quality. Typical Hurst side really. We'll be comfortable and probably finish higher than our performances deserve because we're picking up points, but the lack of quality going forwards is going to show at some point, especially when teams all figure out how each other is going to play. Still 8 days to go, and one player can change everything.

I'm sure we will be bringing in a new striker as is well documented, but i'm really intrigued as to how well Orsi will do when fully fit. Has a great goalscoring record in the conference.

Thought we did well. All about the finishing, they did and we didn't. An enjoyable game even though we lost.
A mention about the ref as well. Thought he was excellent and controlled the game and just shows what poor officials we get lower down the ladder....like the Sutton United game.
Onwards and upwards....UTM.

Knowing what everyone knows and that the closing of the transfer window is immanent, will PH be tempted to spend more money on a goal scorer than he originally would have done?

I hope so, because if spending 200K ish is the difference between lower mid table and challenging at the top, it would be money well spent IMO.

What goal scorers ? If they are still out there - where ? I haven't seen any that we could seriously be interested in.

Maybe our main goalscorer is already here, just injured ATM.
We have signed players in the past whose goalscoring records weren't great, Hearn and Amond for example. They didn't do too bad did they?

Thought Hearn scored over 60 goals in 2 seasons at Alfreton before we signed him

Yep, 65 in 94, albeit at the level below. Connell would have been a better example.
