Sad to see. I note Bradley Wood was another one who got done for money crimes. I liked both players from a football standpoint .Scott Neilson for his technical ability and Bradley Wood for the way he use to play with passion. Shame both went down this route.

Bit odd how this has descended into trying to work out who the poster is because the assumption is that they're female.

Did well in the first spell. Then was too fat in the second and was never able to get fit enough to be a success.

Loved watching Neilson one of my favourites over the last decade

Had Nielsen been more commited I think could of lasted far longer in the game and played at least league 1. Likewise as your probably aware he admitted as well he could of been more focused on his football.

In some ways reminds me of Ronaldinho who for me was the best for pure skill of all time. Only won 2 player of the year awards but should of won far more . His bright shone brightest though in 2 years at Barcelona between 2004-2006 when he was practically unplayable and when he was focused on his game. Sadly  the night life and partying got to him and distracted him somewhat which for me is a huge shame.

He is my favourite player ever . Genius and a legend.

Yeah it's so odd to be posting about ex players that there's a 300 odd page thread about them, plus hundreds of other threads started over the years (at least a hundred of which are about whether Bogle or Amond will be re-signing).

Neilson had skills though as did Ronaldinho but he was a cut above. All relative. There is always going to be someone better. I remember a similar analogy from a top football player when he was comparing Paul Gascoigne to Diego Maradonna I think it was  . What was loosely said was both had skills yet Gazza was so below Maradonna he shouldn't be in the same sentence or words to that effect.

Ignore the nonsense the thread is fine, we get plenty of threads on here about ex-players that are separate to the ex-player thread, not even sure why someone has brought it up to be honest.

I always remember when Sam Allardyce got done when he was Englands manager for money irregularities which surprised me .

Don't like to see corruption like this in the game at whatever level. Tarnishes the beautiful game

This is definitely worth it's own thread - I never look on the ex players one so would never have seen it.

I hope for Scott's sake that he is innocent and nothing is proven against him, I would not want to be spending time in an American prison.

A couple of Allardyce’s close managerial friends in the Premier League were fond of repeated, interesting and highly questionable transfers too.

Craig Allardyce also played for Boston Utd under Steve Evans during the ‘fraud years’.

Obviously, the Head of the FA at the time when Mr Allardyce was appointed (Martin Glenn) is beyond reproach and is of unquestionable ethical and virtuous standing.

It is purely a coincidence that his time at the FA coincided with a particularly murky period of football corruption. I am also certain that all due diligence was followed when Mr Glenn was involved in the proposed sale of Wembley Stadium to Fulham’s owner, Shahid Khan.

Despite the allegations against Mr Allardyce and his son, I am confident they are both people of strong moral character.

No Knut's these names are new to me bar Sam Allardyce and Venkys and I vaguely heard of Phil Gartside .

I have usually tended to follow world football from a general perspective eg who's the best player,team etc as opposed to the politics and business dealings behind it .

I note they were discussing something similar on BT sport recently eg who was the best champions league team ever. Some good debate there eg Rio Ferdinand,Joe Cole , Michael Owen and Martin Keown. The general consensus was Zidane was a dead certainty to be there and the defense was watertight  eg Sergio Ramos and Maldini with Casillas in goal. If you get the chance check it out. Fascinating debate I felt and you may or may not have seen it

Yes sad but true. Gary Lineker  alluded to this as well . Fantastic player but just wished he would of owned up to the hand of God as Maradona called it. He never did though. And as Lineker  said had he done this would of helped end a lot of bitterness many England and even world football fans had on the opinion on Diego.

I doubt anyone outside England gives a flying crap about Maradona's handball.  I'm not saying it was right or even remotely acceptable, but there's loads of instances of players cheating which is more or less completely removed from memory if it doesn't have an impact on your team/country.
