Well, we all owe Mani a huge 'thank you' for sparing us the ordeal that penalties would have been on Monday night.

In the end, don't we have to trust the manager regarding Mani?

If PH doesn't offer him a contract it can only be because he thinks he can get better - Hurst surely can't be disappointed with Mani's impact thus far.

I do like what I've seen of Mani...if he can score scruffy goals he's the sort of player we've often lacked in the past. Decent mobility for his size, too.

I would imagine LJL will not be offered a contract but we don't need to put anyone out of the door to make way for them. We need several strikers on the books don't we?

Got to be honest, I'd kind of forgotten about LJL and that he is still our player. I'd be staggered if he's offered a contract. There's a couple of others (at least) who will be leaving so there's plenty of headroom in the budget for both Mani and Abrahams if Hurst wants to keep them.

I think it might depend on which division we are going to be playing in?

Yes and both Mani and Abrahams dropped down from clubs in a higher league/division so you've got to assume that they think we have the potential to go back there with them in the team. They're not like (say) Smith who is on loan here to get game time and experience and will be definitely be going back to his parent club.

Like the Jamille Matt situation, let him go and just seems to bang goals wherever he goes.

If we’re going to have a squad that puts true competition for places in its DNA then we should be looking to keep the likes of Abrahams & Mani as they would add value to our squads.

We pretty much wasted contracts on Grant, LJL and Scannel...all of whom I imagine will be gone. Those three out the door and Mani in alone gives you just as many goals in just his 14 appearances.
I would think that makes it a pretty sensible deal to me.

A very simplistic approach. Hurst's 'hit rate' with signings over the years has been very good and this year it has been excellent. The young players he loans in get football and we must be an increasingly attractive option for Championship/L1 clubs and managers, when they are looking to loan out 18-22 year olds.

It is easy to flag up players and say without x,y and z we could have had this player. I certainly wouldn't use LJL or Grant as a stick to beat him with. Even Fergie made a few blobs over the years.

Though I think offering a deal would be an odd move I’d expect we’ll be supporting Scannel with his rehab it would be harsh to cut a player loose whilst he was in plaster.

Not only does Hurst offer young incoming loanees first team football he provides competitive football. What is Andy Smith learning now I wonder? Just a shame Wendy didn’t get it as it would have been great for Alex Hunt to have been part of our current squad.
