McAtee wasn't looking too good in that short video, Taylor was supporting him and he appeared to be having some problem with his left leg.

Hurst came across very well in the post match interview as well. As one of his detractors, I must admit he’s done a very good job this season.

It looked like cramp on the pitch. let's hope so. Worrying that both he and Holohan limped off.

Hurst said post match that both of them had cramp. He suggested it's an ongoing problem for McAtee.

McAtee could barely walk 3 paces in that clip which was quite a few minutes after he had gone off. Hoping for a quick recovery. We need him to start, even if he only lasts an hour.

McAtee is all action and combative.  Seems his body cannot quite match this yet.  In some games he is exhausted.  He will get stronger and may need to manage his energy more sparingly,

To be fair, on the few occasions I got cramp in a game, I was hobbling around like that afterwards. That said, I wasn't close to being as fit as the least fit professional footballer!

Looked to me more like a muscle tweak than cramp and the same goes for Holohan.

I have a very good mate who is a season ticket holder at Stockport - he texted me last night during the game saying that he (and other Stockport fans) think McAtee is quality.

That may not be good news longer term......

I think Dave may have a busy couple of days getting everyone recovered and ready for Saturday.

I know he gets tagged with being dour but I much prefer Hurst’s approach to touch line behaviour and interviews rather than the likes of Woodman etc..

I did smile when he got the dig in about ticket allocations on the post match interview last night.

Hurst has good relative experience and I think we’ve seen that and long may it continue.

I'd be recovered from cramp the next day. But yes, I'm not the person to be asking.

I hope it was just cramp for the two of them, of course.

Don't forget the stop / start nature of chasing down opponents with muscles that have been trained and  developed for certain playing functions.

Bit like topranked racehorses going lame, really !

Big example is Max Wright's known problems. If he stayed fit,  then his pace and vigour would be invaluable.

McAtee runs non stop, so he is the next one who would need to be careful of pulls/tweaks.

Hurst will have to shuffle his cards again for Saturday - who would want his job?

Let's hope the lads recover with no Saturday repercussions!

At least I can watch this one !!

Yeah, certainly. Cramp should settle down after a few hours and the right food/drink intake. Strange that Carling and pork scratchings never helped me much though.

Start of the season Mcatee was being subbed every game due to the cramping issue.  Like PH said in the interview they thought they had dealt with it.

Exactly right - pretty sure the top tennis players used to take in salt tablets on hot gruelling days at Wimbledon.

I've always been a fan of PH, he's a good manager. Like everyone he probably has his faults, bit stubborn (?), instinctively a bit defensive maybe, but he builds teams in the real meaning of the word
He has a great eye for a player, gets rid sharpish when he makes a mistake and gets rid of trouble causers double quick. For me he epitomises why managers should be given time even when the going gets tough. For a lower league club like ours with limited resources the cycle of sack/rebuild/repeat is fatally flawed
He has critics because it took 6 years to get out of this league last time but it's all about resources and support from the board. Not sure he had much of either from the previous regime.

Spot on. Always been a Hurst fan. I can understand the moans and groans about substitutions and stubbornness at times but for me he is incredibly unlucky to not be managing at a higher level. Was over the moon when we appointed him for a 2nd time and hope we stick with him. I think we will because I feel the owners see in him what most of us see.

He's very professional, feet firmly on the ground in most cases, and seriously knows how to pick a player, in terms of ability and attitude, not shying away when he's made a mistake and quickly correcting it. He clearly has respect from other people in the game, players and backroom staff. Unfortunately, the biggest danger to his job are his own fans that cant see past 3 or 4 bad results.

As you put so accurately, sack rebuild sack rebuild, particularly in the time frame we've been doing it, is fatally flawed for a club of our stature.

He has taken teams to 8 play off campaigns, with ourselves involved in 5 of them. Think 5 of those ended in a final with 3 promotions to his name.

That's an impressive record and given time, he will usually have his teams involved at the business end of the season.

He's now got a settled side, and system that he only needs to tweak now and again, with other players that can come in when required.  It takes time for a manager to achieve this, but Hurst has managed it relatively quickly this time around. For me, it shows that when he is backed by the board he delivers, which wasn't always the case under JF, or at scunny and Ipswich.

I think PH is a much more rounded and grounded manager this time around.  He's also learning all the time. I think he was a bit harsh on the players during our amazing spell at the beginning of the season. He weathered the storm of our dip in form and came out the other side a stronger person and a more likeable character.  He now seems to be getting his substitutions spot on and holds up his hands when he's made a tactical mistake.

Hurst creates good environments for players and fosters a culture based upon attitude, work ethic and integrity. He is not only a good fit for us on footballing terms as he knows what he’s doing but he also seems to naturally align with what the owners stand for and though that’s not unusual it is becoming rarer in football.

This time around he feels a bit more attacking in his approach and has already been able to build a squad with players on the bench who can change a game and despite popular opinion and to be honest a few examples he will introduce them to a game when required.

The players clearly like playing for him, the club and the supporters and that is surely something that’s breading a strong spirit of resilience and we’re not beaten until the ref blows attitude.

Maybe not this season or even next term but I’m confident he’ll get us out of this league.
