Still only 2 points outside of the play-offs.
Yes we have played more games than most of our rivals but still 30 points at stake, stay positive.
Another massive game at home on Saturday, UTM.

Love your positivity mate. Wish I had some.

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Thinking about it rationally. After the season we had last year and Fenty still lurking in the background like a bad case of covid , wanting his money back, it could be worse. We are competing and I expect us to be better next season. I’m not sure Scunny would see 2 points off the play offs as a bad thing next year.

2 points of the play offs and loads of points to play for. Of course, were going to make the play offs and then get promoted. We will miss a local derby with Scunny but who cares when we're in L2. Positive and optimistic for promotion.

After being the worst team in the league, having that flipping charlatan Holloway in charge, 17 years of embarrassing dictatorship, 6 years or whatever in non league and learning nothing, letting the only manager since Buckley to bring stability and success leave because saving a few pounds was better, and anyway, a fitness coach doesn’t get you three points.
A confused catalogue of urine poor decisions and embarrassing approaches to running a club, sitting two points outside the playoff at the first attempt is not to be sniffed at. It could be better but then I’m sure every fan at every club says the same…

Now the dust has settled from last night.
There is still reason to be positive.
Win on Saturday, we’ll be back in the POs - albeit only due to games in hand for teams elsewhere. However, as I said a couple of weeks ago, it’s better to be in the POs than not at this stage of the season. .
I firmly believe that if we’re still in touch after the Stockport game. We’ll be OK.
Saturday does feel absolutely crucial now though. As does probably 7 points out of the next 9 (Daggers, Chesterfield & Weymouth).
Easy on paper…. Our form against the top half suggests it won’t be.
Keep the faith. UTM

I’m trying to get my head around your comment what category does the 17 games we’ve won fall into? On a serious note in this league with numerous big spenders or teams like our opponents last night who may not be recognisable names but have been solidly building for a few years we where always going to find it hard to get a firm hold on a play off position. Well before Hurst & 1878 arrived this club and the team needed major reconstruction surgery and a full rebuild from top to bottom as it wasn’t fit for purpose..... that purpose? Being competitive on the football pitch. Anyone who thought we’d come roaring back in such a competitive league must have been deluded, it’s not nice to see and at times difficult to support.but In reality there’s a long way still to go. I don’t expect us to go up but did think we’d be good for a play off position but the table does not tell lies abd I suspect we’ll be on the outside looking in as the season comes to a close.

It’s hard to be positive when we have just 9 points from 14 matches against teams in the top 10.
Unless we turn that form around in the 4 remaining games against top 10 opposition (Dag & Red at home, Chesterfield away, Stockport at home & Boreham Wood at home) then we’re destined to finish 10th.

A lot of these games we are losing against teams above us are of our own doing. Last night we took the lead against the run of play but weren't clinical enough during the period we were dominant. Clifton missed a gift of a header at home against Chesterfield I think it was. When we get presented with a gift, we need to be taking advantage.
Often when we break, if the keeper saves it that's the end of the attack. Last night Crocombe pulled off a great save but parried it into the path of Hudlin. There was a moment in the first half where McAtee took the ball wide, the midfield didn't run forward so his only option was to try beat 3 defenders with the cross into Taylor.

I take exception to the idea that Crocombe made a great save before their first goal. It was a weak shot which he flapped into the path of their striker. I thought he could have put his hand on it, personally, but he had to push it wide and not into the middle of the box if he wasn't going to hold it.

It's strange how it's normal an opposition striker following in to score & not a Town defender to clear the ball.

The fact that there is a thread about being positive after losing at home to Solihull in the 5th Tier of the league system shows how low we have sunk abd how easily pleased some have become, people seemingly delighted to be just outside of the play offs at this stage of the season after the manager who was bought in to take the club forward managed to get us relegated and has underperformed in his role during this season, taking us from a position at the top of the league before Christmas to mid table mediocrity.

I'm not "delighted" to be just outside the playoffs, neither am I happy to be in this league....but the fact is, this is where we are. I'm not going to feel sorry for myself because we have sunk so low, I know we have but how sad life would be if I spent my waking hours banging on about how hard done to we are. Support the team and see what happens. I'm as annoyed as anyone about losing last night, we missed a big chance but there are still lots of points to play for.

nothing negative about last nights starting line up, nor his subs. we were in complete control, only change i feel he could have made was taking taylor off You're so intent on blaming Hurst for everything, you cant see other factors at work.

I applaud your dedication to backing Hurst to the hilt but what exactly are these other factors? What I see this season is a guy desperate to set up in a way that means we nick 1-0 wins from the better sides in the league, only to then pick up 9 points from a possible 45 points. Every single one of those games played out almost identically and not once has Hurst demonstrated that he's learned from the obvious errors he's made. I'm always of the opinion that everybody makes mistakes and as long as they don't repeat those mistakes, I could never be genuinely annoyed at somebody for it. Hurst makes the same errors every single week and it's the exact reason fans are so wound up about him, because it appears to be completely avoidable.

Late to put subs on when we were on top to captialise on it. The obvious tactic we seem to have in the first 45 mins of EVERY single game against tough opposition which seems to be allowing them into the game and not going for it too early on. Both negative approaches, both seen last night and both seen multiple times throughout the season, always to ill effect.

Two of our three subs came on when we were 1-0 up last night I'd agree that at 1-1 we could have / should have made the third change but it is what it is... their two substitutions worked out better for them than ours did for us

I did this a few weeks back and had us finishing 10th. Done it again and I have us 6th, joint points with Solihull and Notts County with Bromley 1 point behind outside play-offs. Boreham Wood drop out in mine so maybe I'm being unkind to them. Stockport top, Halifax second and Wrexham third.
