Fed up that you haven’t got your football fix this weekend. Then why not make the short trip to Lincoln on Sunday, to support the Grimsby Town Women in their Lincolnshire County Cup semi final on Sunday.

It’s going to be a massive challenge for our women’s team against first class opposition from the FA Womens National League. Huge underdogs that would really appreciate your support.

Come along and cheer them on. They’ll be doing their best to cause a cup upset. Massive challenge and best of luck to them

Lincoln Moorlands Ground
1.30pm kick off I believe

Thanks for considering and UTM

Sounds like a plan. 👍

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I’d be interested to know how the women’s team have been/reacted since the departure of Dale Houlston as manager, have they sustained their league/cup form? Has their been progression recently or even a  regression since the manager left? Have the appointed a replacement as yet? Are they continuing to sign up good local talent on the playing and coaching aide? As a side note, has it actually been established reported what went on there with the manager leaving the post so quickly, and seemingly completely out of the blue!

What does the future, or at least the next 2-5 years look like for the team in terms of realistic ambitions against sustainable growth plan, these are both Jason and Andrew key strengths in business are t they, building companies and brands from the ground and making them into a success, the future for GTFC women seemed very bright indeed.

Now, of course, I appreciate and recognise the central point and where much of the focus and resources must go is the first team. But does it have to some at the expense of the wider club team, with their progression potentially stunted? I know there ain’t much money in the women’s game t the moment, and chance are the team are losing money, but this stance seems to go against the values and business mindset set out by Jason and Andrew thus far.

Has it actually been established what went on there? All seemed very quick.

I’ll admit, I do fear for the future of the women’s team at the moment. When asked about the future of GYFC Womwn is one of their recent interviews, Jason have quite a lukewarm answer, and not the positive,
Ambitious, strategic answer I might have expected, especially given their syncs on building one inclusive community, unites by a shared love for the club and sport. I’d have thought a progressive women’s teM would for right into that kind of strategy, building links (that have arguably always been missing) with the local young female demographic, inspiring a love for GTFC and female participation in sport. Instead, he kind of brushed it off by saying something along the lines of, ‘they Re excited for the team but the running of it hasn’t been part of the talks to agree on the club budget and, at present was not seen as a priority, as the focus had to go on funding and improving the first team’, I probably haven’t quite captured the right tone but I remember being quite surprised and disappointed with his answer

Hopefully we won’t see a sign if act decline as they sit out of focus.

I think, if I recall correctly, the women’s team were doing very well since their conception and had surprised a few, did they win their league in the first season and get promoted and there was talk at one point bout how far they could go and potentially playing some the sofa called ‘bigger, established women’s teMs, such was their promise and potential.
There seemed a lot of stories and the young female talent we were signing (many of which I taught at Grimsby Institute.it all quite rosy, given the tender age of the team and something potentially quite exciting was building. For the first time ever (at least as far as I can remember) the website was promoting the successes and plan of another team within the club that felt almost on or with the 1st team.

Then, boom and Dale Houlston has resigned as manager with immediate effect, with no real reason give , as far as I recall anyway. I feel like this coincided with the takeover going through but I may have joined up the wrong dots there and mis-remembered. Was Dale a Fenty sympathiser who felt he owed a loyalty to the outgoing non-Chairman?

Chances are this has been explained and I’ve missed it, but what I would say is the above statements regarding his relationship with Fenty is purely a potential theory and is not backed up with evidence at all, they may never have uttered a word for all I know. Just need to cover myself, we know how trigger happy one can get with claims of slander and the like!

In short fella no one gives a excrement about womens football no one cares about dale leaving his role or why he left putting it simply theirs no demand for it.  The only thing that matters is getting out of this excrement league and then possibly hopefully re locating to a new stadium that’s what will help the wider community

Try telling that to the 41,000 who watched the rearranged FA Cup final at Wembley in December. Women's football is a HUGE growth area in the sport at the moment, so we'd do well to invest and try to climb the leagues now before the women's game mirrors the men's where only the richest clubs occupy the top leagues. It's already starting to happen in the WSL.

*Edit: There is no onus on you to watch women's football, by the way, and I really hope that you're not suggesting that we sacrifice funding for the women's team (and by extension any other team that might represent us) for the sake of the men's first XI.

I’m sorry you felt the need to ask all of these questions. I thought I’d made it clear previously that my resignation was nothing at all to do with the new owners. I’m incredibly delighted and impressed with the new owners and their activity at the club?

Am I a Fenty sympathiser? I’m not really sure what that means. In general terms, I speak as I find when it comes to people. In my time at the club, I found John Fenty incredibly kind and supportive towards me and the women’s team. And he was one of the first people to contact me to when I resigned, to thank me for my efforts with the women’s football project during my time there, and of course during the time that he was the major shareholder of the club. I’d add, that it was John that I originally directly emailed, when I requested that the club considered supporting me with the launch of women’s football. He was very accommodating, and was immediately all over this, forwarding my email to Ian Fleming and instructing him to embrace this to get it up and running. So in summary my experiences with John were only good ones. I think it’s a bit sad that we have to keep harping on about John. His time here is over and we have some super new owners now, so it’s about time people stopped dwelling in the past and started enjoying the present and the future.

I’m very happy, and fully supportive still of the Womens team and Womens football in general. The intention of my post was to try to gather a bit of support for tomorrows tough game at Lincoln

Best wishes

Dale

The big clubs run a womens team to look like equality matters to them but in reality do you think the sheiks of Man City settle down on a afternoon and watch a game ? Do you think Roman at chelski gives a toss about his ladies team nah I don’t think so …just because sky and others are pushing it doesn’t mean it will sell world wide , until I see the standard improve and the attendances vastly improve I’m not convinced
