They're from the same genus and have the same parasites. I have no idea why haddock proliferates over cod around Gy/Lincs but it isn't because of "worms". I suspect it was for economic reasons and has simply stuck

My wife has been known to eat Haddock and chips for breakfast, saving it in the fridge until morning.  Also, our favourite chippy here gets all his fish from Grimsby.
