Perhaps the first  thing the new regime could do when it is installed is to treat the fans as an integral part of this club.

Instead of treating it like their own personal fiefdom, they could engage in an open and transparent dialogue with the fans. They could start by have an open and honest assessment of things that have gone on within the club during the previous regime,or am I hoping for too much?

Hopefully we have some kind of pre season this year , maybe try signing a few players before September too .
We will have parachute payments , one of the biggest gate receipts and good support .
Last time we went down we offloaded lots of players taking a wage at the club that didn’t want to be here .
I’m hoping we get a top 3 budget and go for it early as we might not get a chance like this again.
Honestly if we’re not in and around the top after ten games I’d be asking lots of questions as continuing to accept rubbish has been our downfall for the last decade or so

If you do your research, I think it’s pretty clear that’s exactly what we’re going to get. That doesn’t necessarily mean bouncing back at the first time of asking - we should be under no illusions how difficult this will be.

But a frank assessment of the catalogue of mistakes that have been made over the last two decades, a practical plan to correct and recover from them and, yes, an honest, transparent and ongoing dialogue with the fans will emerge very quickly in my opinion.

Healing from the John Fenty era will take time - we are battered and bruised and devoid of confidence and self respect, but we will soon see the green shoots of recovery as we begin this new era and begin to restore the values this once great club used to stand for. I have no doubt.

Let's bounce out of the National League.

Good post fella, always said if we went down again that would be it for me with season tickets etc..

However with the clouds lifting and no JF or his cronies time to get the club back up again. Season tickets will be purchased again..

Last night was the end of a trauma for most of us, an outpouring of grief, emotion, and the snapping of the last crushed straw as the fat lady bellowed in our ears. Tension, stress, and anxiety poured out of our hearts and we had to rid ourselves of the pent up emotion within.

Peace to you Don and let all fans join together on May 5th to start the beginning of a new era in the clubs' fortunes. Fenty was at fault, full stop. So let's not forget what he's done but cast him out of our minds forever, you cannot progress forward with bitter thoughts in your mind.

A pint of Guinness for me please Don.

I know we’ve had a long time to come to terms with the likelihood and I know (almost) no-one wanted to admit it was probable rather than possible but it feels a bit like after the Bristol Rovers penalty shoot out defeat in 2015.   We should have felt gutted, but we were done, Lady Luck was against us and we knew we’d go again the following season.

I know the incoming consortium provides for renewed optimism and I believe Shorty’s team restored some pride in the last dozen games or so.  Yes we go again.

I know we are all drunk off that Cheltenham will play Sheffield Wednesday next season whilst we’ll play Borehamwood.

Looking ahead, I’m thinking about trips to Notts County, Stockport, Halifax (!), Hartlepool, Wrexham, Southend and maybe Torquay all more exciting than Crawley, Stevenage, Salford and Village Green Rovers.
I’m thinking about having a few pints with members of the B&W Army before games, rejecting the suggestion to stay in the pub because I want to go have my balderdash frozen off and because I like bovril.
Then afterwards enduring a rail-nightmare and getting back to Cambridge two and a half hours late, in the early hours of the morning.

Still the thought of another 250 mile round trip next week for another bovril “keeps us going”

I’ll only ask for a half, because my glass is half-full.

I've never been a Hurst fan but given the improvement in the team's performance and attitude, I am willing to give him a chance.

At the end of the day, we don't know what was said to get Hurst to come back to Town and by whom. All we are doing is guessing and surmising with no facts to base any judgement on. On January recruitment we don't know who his first targets were or how much Day lied about money not being a problem, Matt Taylor said there were hardly any players available so was this the problem Hurst had, we don't know, do we?

What we do know from what Hurst has said is that the new owners are already talking budget, prior to Tuesday, and new training ground is in the near future; several months away but more than 2/3 months. With regard to the players, he already knows who he wants to stay, regardless of their contract situation and I don't think telling those who he doesn't want will be a problem for him, contract or not.

The new club will be a different club to the one Hurst first came to with the new owners. I'm sure new optimism will flourish as opposed to the miserly tactics of the existing regime. It is a few years since he managed in the NL which has now changed from a league of want a bee's to a league with many ex L2 clubs in it. We will be no longer the big fish in that league, but one of many big fish in the league.

What I want from Hurst is for him to find the right players to create a bonding team spirit, forming a team with excellent players supporting each other to get us back into the EFL. Reinforce the defence and midfield, with 2/3 new forwards who have proved/or have the knack of scoring goals.

1878 are pouring money into the takeover and have faith in Hurst, or he wouldn't be here now. He is their man and we need to get behind him now. Leave the past, even Hurst's past where it is, you cannot change it, learn from it and support the future.

I am not looking back as what has happened cannot be changed (also keeps my blood pressure down). Lets look forward to a new future and reset the relationship with owners, fans, managers, players and all those who support the club. Lets build the club back to what it was when I first started coming to matches over 40 years ago.

So I will be renewing my season ticket and the lad has already been looking at the awaydays for next season and will be there (hopefully) back in my seat at home games and at as many away games as I can get to.

To be honest, I wouldn’t want this. It’s the sort of thing JF would do to big himself up.

The vast majority of fans know where the main cause of the rot  was within the club. (You will notice I said ‘was’. That’s Applicable from May 5th). An open slagging off will achieve nothing and IMHO isn’t really required. It can be done subtly by highlighting what the new owners are doing to improve the club.  Eg:  We have upgraded the computer system to include ST sales and relevant information. That is enough to let us know it was a bag of sh1t under JF.

Let’s  focus on the positives from now on and let the negativity leave the building on May 5th.

See you all at BP next season.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Please point out to me how in your terms I am being a ''knob'' when I  have not mention anything about criticising the new regime but reserve my right to do you so if the need arises. If I am knob for that then you are the bell-end.

The question is how much are the new bosses prepared to spend, note spend not invest, on BP to make the place better for fans in the 'short term', depending on if and when a new Stadium is constructed.

Our 2 new men are potentially a force to be reckoned with. Stockwood is one of the best bosses in the country with many fingers in many pies including technology, and Pettit is a renowned seeker of investors, so may use his persuasive skills to get investment for a new ground, or sponsorship etc etc.

How about the club running their own PPV matches along the lines of iFollow. Does non-league have anything like that?

If you abandon GTFC now just because we’ve been relegated you need your head examined. Why stick through 16 years of utter cr.ap served up by JSF when there’s the very real possibility of a bright new dawn ?!!!!!
I can’t wait for next season and am planning an expensive battering of my credit card in the club shop once the new stuffs in 👍👍
