Apologies if I upset anyone last night, my disappointment became a bit of a rant.
Let's put all this season, everything from the last 20 yrs,  behind us, let's have a new dawn. Let's fill Blundell Park. Commit to buy a season ticket if you can.
Let's bounce out of the National League.
DB peace in our time.
Yoda I'll buy you a pint in the club bar. Anyone else as well.
Do not ask what your club can do for you, but ask what can you do for your club..
We all support Grimsby, we are all Grimsby Town. UTM.

Well done fellah.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I know we’ve had a long time to come to terms with the likelihood and I know (almost) no-one wanted to admit it was probable rather than possible but it feels a bit like after the Bristol Rovers penalty shoot out defeat in 2015.   We should have felt gutted, but we were done, Lady Luck was against us and we knew we’d go again the following season.

I know the incoming consortium provides for renewed optimism and I believe Shorty’s team restored some pride in the last dozen games or so.  Yes we go again.

I know we are all drunk off that Cheltenham will play Sheffield Wednesday next season whilst we’ll play Borehamwood.

Looking ahead, I’m thinking about trips to Notts County, Stockport, Halifax (!), Hartlepool, Wrexham, Southend and maybe Torquay all more exciting than Crawley, Stevenage, Salford and Village Green Rovers.
I’m thinking about having a few pints with members of the B&W Army before games, rejecting the suggestion to stay in the pub because I want to go have my balderdash frozen off and because I like bovril.
Then afterwards enduring a rail-nightmare and getting back to Cambridge two and a half hours late, in the early hours of the morning.

Still the thought of another 250 mile round trip next week for another bovril “keeps us going”

I’ll only ask for a half, because my glass is half-full.

I've never been a Hurst fan but given the improvement in the team's performance and attitude, I am willing to give him a chance.

At the end of the day, we don't know what was said to get Hurst to come back to Town and by whom. All we are doing is guessing and surmising with no facts to base any judgement on. On January recruitment we don't know who his first targets were or how much Day lied about money not being a problem, Matt Taylor said there were hardly any players available so was this the problem Hurst had, we don't know, do we?

What we do know from what Hurst has said is that the new owners are already talking budget, prior to Tuesday, and new training ground is in the near future; several months away but more than 2/3 months. With regard to the players, he already knows who he wants to stay, regardless of their contract situation and I don't think telling those who he doesn't want will be a problem for him, contract or not.

The new club will be a different club to the one Hurst first came to with the new owners. I'm sure new optimism will flourish as opposed to the miserly tactics of the existing regime. It is a few years since he managed in the NL which has now changed from a league of want a bee's to a league with many ex L2 clubs in it. We will be no longer the big fish in that league, but one of many big fish in the league.

What I want from Hurst is for him to find the right players to create a bonding team spirit, forming a team with excellent players supporting each other to get us back into the EFL. Reinforce the defence and midfield, with 2/3 new forwards who have proved/or have the knack of scoring goals.

1878 are pouring money into the takeover and have faith in Hurst, or he wouldn't be here now. He is their man and we need to get behind him now. Leave the past, even Hurst's past where it is, you cannot change it, learn from it and support the future.

I am not looking back as what has happened cannot be changed (also keeps my blood pressure down). Lets look forward to a new future and reset the relationship with owners, fans, managers, players and all those who support the club. Lets build the club back to what it was when I first started coming to matches over 40 years ago.

So I will be renewing my season ticket and the lad has already been looking at the awaydays for next season and will be there (hopefully) back in my seat at home games and at as many away games as I can get to.

They could start by have an open and honest assessment of things that have gone on within the club during the previous regime,[/quote]

To be honest, I wouldn’t want this. It’s the sort of thing JF would do to big himself up.

The vast majority of fans know where the main cause of the rot  was within the club. (You will notice I said ‘was’. That’s Applicable from May 5th). An open slagging off will achieve nothing and IMHO isn’t really required. It can be done subtly by highlighting what the new owners are doing to improve the club.  Eg:  We have upgraded the computer system to include ST sales and relevant information. That is enough to let us know it was a bag of sh1t under JF.

Let’s  focus on the positives from now on and let the negativity leave the building on May 5th.

See you all at BP next season.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Spot on.

'' If we want the new owners to engage with fans, then we have to stop critisizing them every minute of every day.''

Perhaps if  they didn't provide us with a reason not criticise them would be a start, suppose you would like us to follow like sheep.

No, that's not what I said. They haven't even taken over yet, and yet here you are, being a knob.

Please point out to me how in your terms I am being a ''knob'' when I  have not mention anything about criticising the new regime but reserve my right to do you so if the need arises. If I am knob for that then you are the bell-end.
