He had clear potential, but for me he was akin to Edwards in trying to do too much himself with the ball and not offering much significant end product. Agree that he played a bit like he was disillusioned and frustrated towards the end of his time here.

Depression? Is that supposition, or have I missed it?
I dont think there has been anything officially mentioned, but I personally think he was ill, either through depression and/or stress. You just had to look at his face from when he first joined us compared to when he left. He looked 10 years older. Either of those conditions can make someone sound terse or snappy. Been there. Done that. Remember that it is still only recent that he lost his best friend. There is no time limit for grief.

At first, Holloway had nothing but praise for Windsor and early performances backed it up. As team changes multiplied he was moved around and he looked less at ease. If you watched some of Holloways Cheapside interviews you could see players standing around as Ollie lectured and waved his arms around. Body language wasn't always positive. My guess is that Owen had a keen sense of what he wanted out of this loan in terms of development and lost faith, like others, in the manager. A question of ' I'm better than this - get me out of here!'
I just think that Ollie's depression and covid mania made him a poor manager of young players especially without AL to smooth the edges. I bet he thrives at Newport.
I don’t think people feeling depressed after being exposed to too much Ian Holloway is uncommon. “Great motivator and man manager” my @rse his kind of histrionics could quite easily destroy a young person trying to establish himself in a profession away from home.

Supposition based on his reaction to the loss of a close friend, the repetitious litany of problems in interviews, screaming at players from the touch line, chippiness with interviewers, homilies based on the preachings of his dad, and looking less than well as days got shorter.

I take that as only half in jest - in the right team he will do well.
Me too, Newport are very organised...something he didnt get the benefit of here, Newport get the ball in the opposition's area ....something he didnt get here too often. Hope he does well, good to see a younger player taking a step down to try and get his career going and if he does prove to be successful then it will just add weight to the fact Holloways approach was awful.

I thought that too given the reasons you outline; his behaviour was certainly very odd. However, he made a very speedy recovery and seemed to be in fine fettle on Soccer AM at the weekend. I am now more of the opinion that he knew he had made a horlicks of it, and he just didn't fancy the hard work that was needed to put it right.

Maybe he appears to have bounced back because he appears to have escaped from the centre of his problems. Knowledge of what was going on with the fraudster might have caused him sleepless nights. Or guilt that he as involved.

Looks like we are becoming their feeder club. Just like we once were for Hartlepool and Chesterfield according to their fans.
Look how it turned out for them!

Windsor looked class against Orient and Cheltenham, but he looked absolute garbage in some of the more recent games. All the last 10 or 15 games have all mushed into one blob of shite but there was one match in particular I genuinely forgot Windsor was on the pitch until about the 42nd minute because he was so absent. Absolutely unforgivable performance. If he was like that in training no wonder he got dropped.
Absolutely guaranteed to tear it up for Newport now.

Yes. It's like Matt. when he played for us he stumbled around the pitch like a giraffe on ice. He looked total garbage.
Then he goes to Newport and cant stop scoring.
Wierd. Maybe we just don't know how to get the best out of players or how play to their strengths.
