I think that was probably true at the time. I imagine JSF informed him after the match that he was selling up and IH decided then to resign.

Yep, but when he stated he was injured, I don't think he was leaving the club at that point. Think that happened later that night when JF told him he was selling. I don't think he would have left Pollock out of that game had he been fit.
