If it’s a community stadium owned by the council it will eventually become another strain on the tax payers of Grimsby because as far as I understand very few leisure facilities run by any council break even never mind make money. There again after 5 years of losses the council might just give the club the stadium just to get rid.

According to that then obviously community stadia don't work and aren't commercialy viable.

Surely someone must have contact With Ms D Abbott. If she could just lend us her magic money tree for a couple of hours we could have a new ground, training complex, hotel, swimming pool, university, and still have enough to spare for two new hospitals.

FFS why should the tax payer have to fund Fentydome? I love my Club but it is not a NGO or charity. I pay my taxes to fund welfare, NHS and education. I buy a season ticket to fund my Club. I don’t believe the Club has been marketed and valued openly as as a going concern.

Do you think Boris Johnson seriously thinks about Grimsby?

It doesn't matter whether Fenty ever attends another club board meeting, never sets foot in Blundell Park again, or starts supporting Scunthorpe. He owns 40 odd per cent of the club and the club owe him north of £1.5m. If the government give the club the money to build a new stadium it will benefit him (and other shareholders) personally. The only way for it not to be a conflict of interest is if he had no role in the council that gets the ground built or if he sold up his shares.

JF would be excluded from any Council discussions or decision making as regards a new football ground therefore there would be no conflict of interest. This principle applies to all levels of governance, both local and national.

Can you explain how the Deputy Leader of the Council and portfolio holder for regeneration is going to be removed from any discussions that will influence the area’s biggest regeneration project?

So that’ll include site allocation, policy, budgeting (i.e council tax), wider infrastructure, transport, funding, housing and jobs, just off the top of my head.

If he really wanted to avoid a conflict of interest he’d either sell his stake in the club or step down from his cushy position at NELC. Sounds like he wants to have his cake baked by Joe Public, eat it then pretend he’s not had any cake at all.

Only if they are visiting and then only very briefly.

However, they should all be thinking about helping the poorer areas of the country to become prosperous. Cutting the block grant to poor councils and redistributing funds to wealthier areas doesn't seem the best way to do this.

He can be involved in discussions and decisions regarding the regeneration up to the point of the proposed ground. There are legal precedents and rules governing this. You might not understand this but it is a fact. In the same way, MPs who have business interests ie shareholdings, directorships etc, are not allowed to be on select committees, procurement processes etc have to declare their business interests and not be allowed in Government decision making. Say I had shares in one of the local wind energy firms then would that prevent me from being a NEL councillor?
