Tranmere sit, 5 points, directly above us in the table. This is in reality a 6 pointer and a game we must win to progress up the league; albeit on points not position. We are also a game in hand on Tranmere and to win that would put us above them on level games played.
I'm sure this hasn't gone amis with DA and Adkins so I hope we play an attacking side and that by now DA will have sorted out our defensive frailties.

I understand labelling FGR and Sutton as 6 pointers, but we're getting this any time we play a bottom half team. Was it you that posted similar against Salford?
When you are over halfway through the season and only win 6 games, every.game could be labelled must win.
It's a home game, against a team close.to us in the table. We could do with a win, but it ain't a 'must win' or ' 6 pointer'.
I want us to win. I don't want Tranmere to.win, but a draw isn't the end of the world, so it ain't must win.

Also, if they are 5 points above us and its a 6 pointer, if we win, we go above them? 🤪

Would take a boring 0-0 now after the last 2 home games tbh . Event free .
Might be negative but we probably only need to draw 10 for safety , can't see FGR/Sutton getting 20 points + they have far worse goal differences .
Even by our standards it would be a disaster to go down now , it would take losing a lot of games , we have a tough run in but I can't see us not winning 4 or drawing enough to be safe surely ; we have not actually lost that many games it's more the amount of draws - 8th and 9th have both lost the same amount as us even Notts in 7th only 1 less . I think it's been the inability to win the games we dominated that's left us so low - Bradford & MK Dons come to mind off the top of my head .

The day PH got sacked, we were 21st and only 4 points above the relegation zone. After Artell's first game we were 20th and 5 points above the relegation zone.
After last night, we are 19th and 8 points above the relegation zone. FGR had a couple of games in hand on us not so long back, but have fallen further behind, so we are not doing too bad considering.
Has to be said that Tranmere have done considerably better than us since they had a change of manager. On the day PH was sacked, they were a place below us in 22nd, but have picked up a lot of wins since then and it won't be an easy game. They are around the top of the form guide, but have lost their last two.
A win would be great, because if we lose, there would be quite a gap from the bottom 6. There is also a chance that Salford and Donny could go above us if we don't win, but both have very tough games against Crewe and Stockport. I'm hoping for one of those days where all the results go your way, but I won't be panicking if they don't.
Upshot is that the bottom two have got further behind us over the last 10 games and as fixtures start to run out, the task gets harder for them.

6 pointer, go above them etc.......
As far as I am concerned we will not be relegated and we will not get into the playoffs. So lets just let DA build a team to play his type of football. We may concead a few, but we are scoreing as well, DA is and will build a better squad for next season. So lets just enjoy the rest of the season, pressure off.

I wish I was as confident as some on this forum. A couple of bad results for us coupled with teams below picking up points and we’ll be sucked in is my fear. In the last two home games we’ve conceded 11 goals 😳

You should really judge Artell on when he started not when PH got sacked as there was quite a gap in between.

I look at it like this,
To go above us on points Sutton have to win 3 games whilst we lose 3 and then do better than us in the remaining games
If FGR win 3 whilst we lose 3 then we’d be level on points.
A win Saturday though would be a good reward for everyone.

My only fear is the lack of teams between us and 23rd. 8/9 points feels a reasonably comfortable gap but if Forest Green or Sutton found some form then we could be dragged into it pretty quickly. Feel like we should have enough but conceding 11 in two home games isn't a great sign.

Saturday is a must win game and its as simple as that.
Tranmere will not attack us like Notts County did, so we need to go out all guns blazing and make it a comfortable win.
I will be dissapointed if its anything but 3 points on Saturday, despite their half decent run of form over the last 5 games.

Its not a must win 6 pointer though. A draw will be fine. Again I don't want a draw but I won't be calling for the managers head if we draw. This is the sort of panic social media is guilty of. Maybe it's a must not lose.game? But again, not really, if teams below.keep losing....

But what if they don't? We need points on the board and shouldn't rely on others, so therefore it becomes a must win game. Especially based on their position and form over the last two games. I agree that it is not a six pointer, but it is a must win and in my opinion, a draw is not good enough.

I’m far from convinced we’re not going to get sucked back in . I’m generally not a pessimist but recent results don’t suggest there’s a sudden resurgence coming.

We need to win the game, and the home fans need to see us defend properly. For me, if we do that and it turns out to be a hard fought draw with us doing things that are effective and entertaining, then a point would be ok. Key thing is - don’t lose and don’t give goals away. If that happens there’ll be another load of frustration, anger, moaning and general sh1t storm noise.

Too much pessimism on here for me.
We're in trouble IF the sides below us start an (unlikely) upsurge in form AND our form is very poor - which assumes the players DA brings in this window don't strengthen our team.
I have too much faith in the ExtraSpecialOne to accept the latter. (viz Harry Wood)
We only need to sort out our defensive frailties and we'll be one of the better sides in this league...and our manager knows that.

Fair point. Sometimes it just takes one player to transform a poor-looking defence - probably an 'old head' who can organise the others. Are you old enough to remember "Biffo" Barker? No pace, not strong in the air or on the ground - but he organised the defenders around him in such a way that he just leisurely moved around to snuff out attacking threats. We've had a few since too.
