Well it's basically forecast to rain non-stop there for the next 24 hours, so it's clearly a possibility and we'll probably find out tomorrow morning. I'm about 25 miles away at the moment and the rain's been ridiculous since last night.

Very much doubt that would happen with a minute to go, Town leading I mean.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Met office forecast looks ok.
The damage could be done before that with water logged pitch.

I’m not a million miles away in Leeds and the weather’s absolutely minging. The current forecast in Stockport looks identical.

Can’t help but feel that a postponement would be a blessing for Paul Hurst right now.

I think that P-P would be the best result for us at the minute.

Not sure, their fans (and Manager?) complained bitterly about the quagmire pitch at BP last NYD, playing them on a bog might be our best chance…

I had it easier than you tha’ knows; by the time I was 23, I’d paid off me mortgage, got me’sen superannuated, got an NHS dentists for life, had numerous same day appointments wi’ a doctor - in person, and got a degree with no student debt and had full student grant of £1,500 a year which I spent on Grimsby away games and tetley bitter at 50p a pint.

Tell that to the youth of today and they wouldn’t believe you…

You must have drunk in some expensive bars, 50p per pint. I recall paying 10 1/2 old pence ( about 4 P today ) and everybody was in uproar when it went up by 1d.

Reminds me of a video I saw from Pope Francis. Most of the world's wealth is concentrated in only 20% of country's. Messed up human history full of greed  creates today's injustices. Many today around the world are still struggling just to feed their family's and survive.

That’s nowt; when I were a lad we had an actual bricks and mortar bank branch in our village, where you could chat up the cashier and pay all your wages in - in cash, and then still be a tight bstard in the village pub, which hadn’t been converted to air bnb flats…

Used to play on Bradley and Barretts with the mud deeper than
our boots.

Oh and had just bought a new semi in Middlethorpe Road for £3,600.
Thought I'd never be able to pay off my mortgage.

A quid would give me a good night out in the Lifeboat and Flamingo.

Happy Days !

In setting this thread careering off topic, it was a converse of the 4 Yorkshireman Python sketch - heard it on R4 the other day. But actually, of course, it’s all feckin true if you scale back some of the exaggeration, unaffordable housing, no council housing, shite public services, wealth held mostly by the retired and on top of that we’ve just fecked the planet as well.

In reference to the video Pope Francis done he didn't specify any country's pal. Just remember watching it and it hitting me hard emotionally with the injustices of life. He's Argentinian and being out in the Hispanic world you see things in real life and  in the news which correlate eg Mexican migrants going days without food and surviving on water sitting on top of train wagons just trying to get into the USA for a better life .

Its very sad indeed, but no one seems to look beyond the surface and see some of the reasons for these issues, in many countries and continents corruption is endemic, no real democracies so people dont have a choice or chance to better themselves, and communism doesnt work among many other issues.

There's always a danger of a match being called off for any number of reasons (i.e we get 5 players sent off), but rain isn't one of them today.

oh we are so lucky that we don't have corruption in our politics and we can all rest assured that whatever party is in power they will strive to do things that benefit the people and not themselves or their families.

Reading Ray Winstones (who I like as an actor )book at the moment "young Winston" and he touches on the above .  Talks about Vanessa Redgrave trying to get him to join the workers revolutionary party as a young lad. Weren't having it and told her to f*** off . He had nothing against her but as he stated "some of the people running her organisation weren't exactly whiter than white in how they conducted themselves".

As you say can't trust no political side completely. All have something negative in their lockers .
