It’s guess work, always has been and always will be. The 9 minutes was a number plucked out of thin air, somewhere in the region.

So they either come up with a way of stopping and starting to get an exact amount of time or they just flipping leave it. The obsession with constantly chopping and changing laws and rules to suit some folk that moan from time to time is ruining the game more than say, the odd finger nail being offside or a referee playing 1 minute too much or less.

There was 4 sub breaks during normal time, Maher was down for a while, their player was down for a while and the players had a drinks break while he was being sorted out. They now take into count the time it takes to get players forward from corners and free kicks.
You seem to complaining about seeing more actual football rather than seeing a player waste time or rolling around on the floor. As long as they keep it up throughout the season, I’m all in favour of it.

Baldrick ! The only impression you can do is that of a man with no talent !!

The powers that be seem to have given in with the time a goalie can hold onto the ball, think it started at 6 seconds but now as there’s no consequence the leading team’s goalie can be between 15 and 20 seconds, so as stated earlier, when the big 6 premiership clubs have their private meeting with the refs committee all the new rules will be quietly forgotten.

That rule still exists and it's down to the ref to implement it.

We’re a weekend into the season and there’s already inconsistencies and grumbling in the game, the premier league will start and within a month it’ll go back to the usual 1/2 minutes first half and 4/5 minutes in the second apart from those times when there’s a serious injury.

I’m not saying I don’t agree, I’m just realistic enough to know this won’t stop it, nor wis lol it have any sustainability…

It’s a sticking plaster to a supposed problem, one that’s lost much of its stick…

Football authorities, FIFA, UEFA and the FA will not admit that there are any problems, they especially will not look at how other team sport’s especially rugby don’t have half the problems they have. Respecting the ref, time keeping, diving, cheating, gamesmanship are all things that infuriate the fans but, until Coca Cola Mastercard etc threaten to withdraw their sponsorship then nowt will change.

The moaning from the top has started already. Pep never gave his permission for the changes.

I think the biggest problems we are going to see is the referees allowing more physical contact than previously.  Players will push this to the limit, and with us not having the strongest physical players in the League, I can see us ending up on the wrong side of this change to the rules.
