Can you guys bring me up to date on Shrimpton, who I believe we signed from Scunny? I have just seen a picture on the 'Scunny United Fans Group' on Facebook where it appears to show Shrimpton training with Scunny new signing, Ross Barrows.
What is the situation here, why is he training with Scunny and not us?

Probably cause he's their player.

To answer your questions, I thought I had heard he had signed for us some time ago, just to remind you, I AM 77 years old with a very poor memory, so I sometimes get things wrong. Also the first sentence of my post said 'I believe, and it ended with a question mark. That should indicate to any intelligent reader that I am not sure that he signed for us.
As for pizzzza, mind your own business, are you the Facebook Police?

Don't think we've ever been in for Finley Shrimpton? His name was mentioned briefly last season or the season before as a player we were supposedly interested in, but I've never heard anything was concrete.
He's a young lad, he's only played four times with Scunny and his only real spells in first team football have come in loan spells with Frickley, Grantham, Cleethorpes and Gainsborough, so if there was any interest you'd likely not expect him to be coming in as a regular.
A Scunny fan I know doesn't think he will make it in professional football.

I think those stats are a bit out of date, probably owing to Scunny currently residing in the David Bury Tuesday Evening Six-a-Side League at the minute. Played a few times last season for them and from what I've been told/read he was always one of the better players when he did play. Interesting that people see it different though isn't it? Largely though, it wouldn't matter who was in that team it was just doomed. There is/was interest in him from our side. To paraphrase Hurst, it's someone they're aware of. How much that awareness dips into wanting to sign him is another matter. Back in January I was told by someone loosely connected to Scunny that we were interested in two of their players. Shrimpton and Cameron Wilson. The former is under contract, the latter was out of contract this summer and had rejected a new deal there. Last week Scunny put out something of a bizarre statement on the player situation which looks like he's staying - https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/june/players-update/Not heard anything relatively recently on Shrimpton and I said on the transfer thread that I'd imagine any move would be with a view to him developing, the only thing I could really compare it to is when we signed Luke Spokes. A Brian Laws rough diamond if you like. But let's be honest, January was a long time ago and a lot has happened for us. We've made a excrement load of money since then and I think we've probably raised our bar a little in what we'll want in.

Looking into it, you are right the 4 appearances were in League Two, but only 15 appearances last season early doors when they had low numbers, was then loaned out for the rest of the year.

Coming from Londonderry you should know more about passive aggressive than anyone, but obviously you don't as I have posted absolutely nothing that could be interpreted as passive aggressive. Oh and passive aggressive is all about tone, look it up, just how do you see the tone of a message that consists only of text in a forum post? The simple answer is, you don't!

That's your opinion. Don't you get a bit angry when people question what you write in a forum thread, and ask what you are doing on another Football Club forum, when it is none of their business and call you names and insult you? I will ALWAYS stand up for myself no matter how many trolls jump on my posts.

Relax. The club is in the best position it's been in since the turn of the century and not even Shrimpton training with Scunny should dampen a Town fan's spirits at the moment.

I'll also throw Thorpe into the mix.
Past his best when he came here but always caused loads of problems against us, somewhat disappointing. Still behind Daws in the 'Tony's who flattered to deceive' chart.

I can't imagine the same for Pulis though, not when his old man is Tony too. I imagine the non-entity midfielder goes by Ant, just to avoid confusion at the dinner table. Never quite understood why people give their own name to their kids. Ok, it's a familiar name so you're not likely to forget it, but you're then adding Snr or Jnr onto the name which just makes it weird. Then there's the point when the Snr/Jnr flips....Frank Lampard Snr only became so when Frank Lampard Jnr outdid his dad and ceased to become Jnr. So much easier if they had just called him Dave.

Settle down guys. The original post was obviously a genuine error and he didn't realise or got confused about a situation. People corrected it politely and then we move on. I worry sometimes, especially this day and age, mental health is massive so be kind. If someone is being 'passive aggresive' or rude just egnore it or correct it in the right manner.

Good. Ford? Caldwell? (Possibly in my worst three strikers I’ve ever seen play for Town and up there with Mike ‘Bungle’ Jeffrey).

I was fine with the first few answers, but then pizzzza had to stick his nose in about me being on the Scunny site. What has that got to do with him? Nothing! We have Scunny, Lincoln, and Notts County fans post on our website, no big deal. So my point is, I was happy until everyone started to have a go because I defended myself re that guys reply, which I will always do.

If there had been more passive-aggressiveness in Derry/Londonderry then that would probably have been better than its history of aggressive-aggressiveness.

You literally posted about it on a public website! I made a light-hearted quip, nothing more than that. If the fact you frequent a Scunny Fans Group on Facebook is something that you are precious about (to be fair I'd be embarrassed about it too ) then maybe you should keep it to yourself. I am sorry that you did not take my post as intended (ie a joke). I hope you're doing ok. UTM

If the fact you frequent a Scunny Fans Group on Facebook is something that you are precious about (to be fair I'd be embarrassed about it too ) then maybe you should keep it to yourself. I am sorry that you did not take my post as intended (ie a joke). I hope you're doing ok. UTM
Err, you're a strange one, I'm not embarrassed at all, why would I be, it's no one else's business what websites I visit.

Wise words.

If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you.
I don’t know if you are trying to insinuate that I am some sort of sectarian sycophant or that I have an in depth knowledge of what the troubles were like. I live in a fantastic city that like others in Northern Ireland has had their troubles, and if you care to think about the unnecessary murder of journalist Lyra McKee still does have some trouble.

Someone allegedly in their 70s (we've not had proof, we've not seen his passport or his birth certificate!) reacting like a teenager. So funny HAHAHA

I don't know where you get that from. I am well aware of the troubled times in Londonderry, I spent two years there in 1970/72, being shot at, patrolling the streets, dealing with massive riots, and reacting to bombing attacks, as well as losing 2 friends killed in those years.
