A strong bench again though.  We can at least try and change things if we go a goal down.

I am a little concerned that once again we are worrying about the oppistion instead of letting them worry about us, harsh on Scannell not to be starting but it perhaps indicate that Hurst still does not trust him much despite last week.

Positive is that Taylor is back, and with Mani and Abrahams on the bench we have options there and competition for places.

We need a good ref today. Borehamwood's bruisers will have an easy task taking the ball from Sousa and Taylor whereas Abrahams and Mani are much more robust. If Sousa can win corners and throws at least, then we can maximise from set pieces. He is unlikely to get far with dribbling along the touchline against their defence.

Not seen him play but why drop our only big striker against what I thought was a team of mainly tall players especially as he is in goalscoring form but then not that I'm too bothered it's 8.30pm here and well away on sri lankan rice and curry amd Lion lager

Would have kept the same 11

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Understandable caution, what with Jacob ‘Mendy’ Mendy fixing things for them in the middle of the park.

Bit scrappy to be honest, we have some talent on the bench I think we’ll need something more to win this game.

After the season they’ve had I’m amazed how few home supporters there is here.

Probably too many big teams nearby. Watford only 20 minutes away and the big London clubs are probably far more popular in those commuter towns.

I wonder how many people living there even know they have a local team.

Also doesn't mean people want to go see them if their team isn't playing, do our fans go watch Cleethorpes Town and Grimsby Borough when we aren't playing?

Ah the old ‘play Giles Coke in the tough games to keep us more defensively solid but create nothing’ tactic again

I got hammered on here for suggesting Giles Coke was a handicap and it was like playing with 10 men when he plays, my garden shed is more mobile than him.
So, we'll see what happens today then.
If we play a blinder with coke in the midfield and he bangs in the winning goal, I'll be gracious and admit I was wrong.
Seems we are there for a point listening to it so far.

Just seems like if we'd played manny and scannell or jmd from the start we'd have had a better chance of scoring while not losing anything from our tactical shape, easy to say but thats the criticism hurst has left himself open too and if he'd done that I dont think anyone wouldve questioned the reverse

Jmd nearly scoring as I type this

“A good point” says JT, but it’s not is it? We need to be winning games now. No doubt, many would be pleased with draws against the likes of Solihull, Chesterfield and Stockport, but taking 3 points from 9 will not get us into the playoffs.

Really, really important not to lose these games against teams around us. Even if we were the better side, I’m happy with a point, especially away at a side with the best home record in the league.

We were the better side at home to Notts County and Chesterfield, yet got sod all.

Another big game on Tuesday - mustn’t let Solihull double us.

Strongly disagree with that. The teams around us have an unreal number of games against one another in the coming weeks. We only have a couple more like that; the trick is absolutely ‘not losing’.

As others have said, a bit frustrating not to get all 3 points. But looking at their home record it's not bad.

Just heard Humberside praising the 342 Scunthorpe fans who made the 90 minute journey to Salford. What about the 740 Town who travelled twice as long?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,

To be fair, I’m astonished more than 50 scunny fans went today, But they’re never gonna compete with us, our fans are too daft to ditch their team!

Mixed afternoon to be honest, a draw away against a team above us but dropping out of the play off positions, then again I guess it shows we’re also harder to beat now.

Like I said earlier that I think if we had kept the same starting 11 we may have come out with the points today.
But a point there is not so bad.
Onward to the next game UTM

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I think a point is OK but BW have dropped right away since they lost to Everton. I was surprised at the team selection though.
If you want to get out of this wretched league, cup runs are a distraction. Stockport, Bromley and Wrexham are in the FAT semi-finals. Let's hope for very hard games and extra time so their legs get heavy and  their league form drops away.
When we were in this league before we got distracted by having a run in this meaningless cup competition. Glad we are not in it now.

Borehamwood have not lost a home game all season and we thoroughly outplayed them. We will not win them all and that was a good performance> Keep at that level and I gamble we will hit the playoffs

If Paul Hurst had been a bit more positive in team selection we'd be where Stockport are right now. It's ok to not lose a game, but it's 3 points for a win.
Most times it wouldn't of compromised us defensive shape either.
Kevin Keegan's Newcastle had it down to a fine art, concede 3 goals.....make sure you score 4.

On a side note, borehamwood can only muster 900 fans for a home game against play off rivals, that'll be scunny next season.

We were the only team who tried to win the game. You cannot legislate for a keeper who did his job very well.
Some of our balls into the box were lacking in finesse but you have to be in the position in the first place.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

…and Keegan’s team would never have been promoted as champions. Defences win you titles. That’s why he didn’t win the league. Unfortunately there is only one automatic promotion place in the NL.

On a side note, borehamwood can only muster 900 fans for a home game against play off rivals, that'll be scunny next season.

It definitely won’t, they won’t have playoff rivals

Newcastle and keegan easily won the title

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Interestingly*, Newcastle only conceded 2 more than Man U in 95/96. History has judged Darren Peacock rather harshly.

If Newcastle would have kept a clean sheet at SJP, when they battered Man Utd, and lost 1-0, they’d have finished the season level on points with Man U…

…and still have finished second because Man U outscored them due to Keegan’s defensive tactics  🤣

Thought town looked the only team wanting or trying to win the game.

Borehamwood are likely where they are through grit and hard work which is to be commended but they didn’t seem to have many ideas and time wasting after 20 minutes at home, at 0-0 is the most non league thing ever.

Thought waterfall was excellent again, Amos got in to some great space and Smith looked decent.

Their keeper made two massive saves, especially after it looked like he was gonna bottle or second half after the abuse he got.

The save he made off MD’s shot was excellent and I’m still baffled how he got a full hand to it…
