On a side note, borehamwood can only muster 900 fans for a home game against play off rivals, that'll be scunny next season.

Most times it wouldn't of compromised us defensive shape either.
Kevin Keegan's Newcastle had it down to a fine art, concede 3 goals.....make sure you score 4.


We were the only team who tried to win the game. You cannot legislate for a keeper who did his job very well.
Some of our balls into the box were lacking in finesse but you have to be in the position in the first place.

…and Keegan’s team would never have been promoted as champions. Defences win you titles. That’s why he didn’t win the league. Unfortunately there is only one automatic promotion place in the NL.

Newcastle and keegan easily won the title


Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong  
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Interestingly*, Newcastle only conceded 2 more than Man U in 95/96. History has judged Darren Peacock rather harshly.

If Newcastle would have kept a clean sheet at SJP, when they battered Man Utd, and lost 1-0, they’d have finished the season level on points with Man U…

…and still have finished second because Man U outscored them due to Keegan’s defensive tactics  🤣

Thought town looked the only team wanting or trying to win the game.

Borehamwood are likely where they are through grit and hard work which is to be commended but they didn’t seem to have many ideas and time wasting after 20 minutes at home, at 0-0 is the most non league thing ever.

Thought waterfall was excellent again, Amos got in to some great space and Smith looked decent.

Their keeper made two massive saves, especially after it looked like he was gonna bottle or second half after the abuse he got.

The save he made off MD’s shot was excellent and I’m still baffled how he got a full hand to it…
