not quite true. Had at least 3 shots on target Tuesday night however your first 2 facts are correct, so no doubt we will be hearing from Yoda, Pen Penfras etc as a result.....

We need to strengthen in those positions, that’s not a new concept but in and around the top is where we want to be and hopefully hurst will complete a loan or two to give us better options.

Thought Fox did alright filling in for him today. Problem was the ball kept then dropping to Crookes or Coke who every time took the conservative option and passed backwards when there were multiple occasions both of them could have attempted to knock it forward to another player on the counter.

Notts did a job on us and we switched off at the death so no one to blame but ourselves. A point a piece would have been a fairer result though.
Disappointing but let's keep it in perspective. Notts are one of the best teams we'll play in the league this season so it wasn't exactly a nailed on 3 points for us at 3pm, especially with our most influential player out and his strike partner on the bench.
Marathon not a sprint and all that.
Roll on Kidderminster away and the FA Cup next Saturday.
Hopefully by the time we play our next league game we'll be almost back up to full strength, albeit without McAtee (probably). UTM!

We controlled majority of the play today I thought midfield played well we just missed the goal from some good play I'd rather have our team than notts county, they scored a sucker goal, it happens and am gutted at the moment but we've had a good start to the season and we need to push on now after the Kidderminster game.

We are a different side with mcatee and Taylor no doubt , today hows how we need a plan b too as lenny has to be a sub for us. He showed he works hard but the difference he has in the side compared to the players unavailable to us as our first choice is massive.
Would like to see mcatee efete bapaga sousa taylor all involved as first choice players as in some of the first names on the team sheet were possible as they offer so much more to us than we don't have them available to us. I know it's not always possible but we just look a different side when they are in it.

Absolutely. But I do think we could do with a couple more good signings for atleast add squad depth. Maybe PH was relying on the fitness of Grant and Scannell but the latter I think is a lost cause. Grant has possibly taken longer than thought but I don't know what injury he has, I don't think it's been mentioned anywhere.

Look at this rationally. Today's results show Chesterfield couldn't beat Daggers and Wrexham ( money bags) couldn't beat Torquay, Boreham only managed to beat a down and nearly out Southend. So has the bubble burst for these high flying! clubs ? I think not. We now have 14 days before we go to lowly Aldershot, yes there is a cup match but it's the league that counts. Liverpool could only draw at home with Brighton so sack Klopp, and Man City lose to Palace so sack Guardiola? Scunts lost to Colchester so sack Cox, NO they're going in the right direction! So get a grip on yourself,

You've every right to give your opinions. Don't mean to offend you but are you a bit simple? 14 games played & one point away from from the leaders. So obviously not a "shi*" team that you seem to quickly attach a tag to.

I see people have appeared out the woodwork as usual to be concerned about things. I guess some of the regulars too who salivate, licking their lips about rubbing it in when we lose. You'd think we are Dover who have not won all season with the way people talk. It's kind of amazing how quickly people turn on the club when a couple of results don't go well. Same people were up in arms the season we won the playoffs when the 1st leg against Braintree didn't go to plan. A single result doesn't change a thing, neither do a couple of rough games in October.
Perspective wise we've won all but 1 home games this season, We have won 9 out of 14 games and drawn 2 with 3 losses. Currently joint top on goal difference even with not scoring in the last two games scoring 27 in 12. If that's a crap team I don't know what would be considered good by these people.

The only crap team I know of are those that want to pull a club that is on the up, down. If we had won 5 - 4 today some would complain that we let 4 goals in! As it was we lost and on another day we will play far, far worse and win.

What a f@cking stupid thread...mariner501, go get back under your rock...this is football, win some, lose some, draw some, but to intimate "the bubble has burst" is ludicrous at best. We are playing some of the nest football we've witnessed since Buckley's first reign yet you give it biggy big balls because we've lost 2 games..1 of which(today) we completely out played Notts and had more possession against a supposedly possession based team... you've really licked the bottom of the barrel starting this thread...

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

The fully fit 1st 11 side will play to the delight of the fans as they all run and interchange positions, knowing where other players are going and creating gaps for others.
That's why so many different players have scored, and we have 2 forwards with 5 + 6 goals respectively currently losing both together has seriously upset team balance.
Waterfall is now being man marked at corners with no Efete as the alternative target so changes in delivery has not been good.
Until injured players return, Plan B is needed, either changes in formations or additions to the squad for a month.
Patience from the stands needed while the problems are solved !!

Yet sat 2nd in the league 1 point behind top. Booooo hurst out. Idiot. We actually played well yesterday and created a handful of half decent chances. They created 1 which took 89 minutes and sadly scored it. excrement happens. We go again. UTM

I think we have to guard against getting our heads down. That's the supporters and the club. And we need to lead. It sounded like the lads worked hard so the defeat is hard to take. Two loses in a row after such a run does hurt because everything is relative. A Twinnings English breakfast tea is fine but when you have just had a cuppa Yorkshire tea / PG then it tastes like gnat's pi55. We need to bounce back in two weeks.

2 narrow losses on the bounce is not a pattern. These defeats were down to strong mitigating factors, which we all know. The matches before these 2 games are a better representation of our abilities.

So I was thinking about this and
- We're 2nd in the league - Based upon the last 2 months we could be considered title contenders - Away from the last week we’re scoring goals - Multiple players are scoring - The football is decent and the passing and movement is unrecognisable from the last few years. -The squad look united and engaged - The effort and work rate is good - Players are engaging with supporters - Youth is getting involved - Crowds home and away are excellent - BP feels positive - The owners are doing what they said they would - The Trust are involved look at the Fan Zone - The training ground looks fit for purpose and a new one is in flight. - The chairman has stated that if PH needs a striker he can have one. - We’re in the cup with a winnable game next week - The manager has some staff including an analyst - People are interested again
Yeah we lost a couple and we need another option up front (Grant?) but we where never going to win every game or be top until the end.

Defeats are harder to take when you are a contender. It hurts more.
We are above where I thought we would be, so not going to get too down about it. I think considering what Hurst started from, he's quickly built a side that can compete at the level we are at and I would have taken a play off spot before the season started anyway, so we are still well on course for that.
Was hoping we would finish top three to make the play offs a little easier, but thought that was being a bit optimistic given we have a whole new squad, but expectation is now higher, hence the disappointment in a lot of the posts.
Without some significant signings, I feel top spot will be very hard to achieve, but top three is very much on the cards, and you just never know; if we get on a good run, the top spot is still in sight.
Long way and a lot of football to play yet.

Would rather a bad spell now than in March/April…
Imagine if we’d spent what Wrexham and Stockport had…people losing their excrement because we’ve lost games when key players have been out…who’d have thought it…
I’ll take the start we’ve had…

I guess the OP wasn't around in 1979/80. By end of October we'd already lost 7 games. Wonder where we finished?
