How England’s top four divisions look based on all-time average attendance since 1889 has been revealed... A decent barometer of historical club size? A decent guideline to show how teams are currently under or overperforming in the present day? Do home attendances (budget) equal success, trophies and league position over a long period of time as only seven clubs in the top two divisions for attendance are currently playing in the third or fourth tiers?

Genuine question, I'm easily confused

How are each clubs league they are in worked out ?

It's just the 'top 20 largest average' making up the prem and then the next 24 making up the championship etc!

I remember looking at this table years ago and we sat something like 24th in the all time rankings.

Nearly two decades in league 2 and non league have taken their toll which is a shame, but hopefully we can look forward to a better future once we restart.

Mind you thinking about it, the table I saw could have been based on average league positions, not attendances.

I assume Salford's all time average attendance is this season (ie the whole thing is PL/FL only?)

Obviously then, there would be a number of other clubs with higher averages not on this list.

Does time spent in the conference count, or is it just football league attendances?
