AL must get the players to score us a goal at Macc . I would be urging the players to shoot as often as possible and the players need to be working harder on set piece delivery and finishing .The Scunny game chances were created but we never looked like scoring barring Wright hitting the post. Let`s just go for it play 3 up front and attack for 90 mins against a team who must be even more devoid of confidence than ours.Come on Limbrick unleash hell and 500+ travelling Mariners will sing you home.UTM

ALL WE ARE SINGING IS GIVE US A GOAL

I could hardly do worse Stevie lad

The difference in centre forwards on Saturday summed up our problem Van Veen held the ball and waited for runners the few times he got the ball and when he got a chance he took it with ease . Our strikers had numerous opportunities to create chances but often failed to control the ball or play a simple pass and when they got a chance flunked it. All about basics football is a simple game you just need to score one more goal than the opposition.

It's all about confidence.

Van Veen at the beginning of the season wasn't scoring or playing well but we were. Now it's the reverse. We snatch at chances and want another touch. Players make forward runs knowing they will get the ball when you have that confidence.

Thought youd like to know that the record is 11 games without a goal. It's one thing I believe this team could achieve!

I won't name them as I know they read social media and have confidence issues, but some of the strikers are not ready for first team football. Some may never be ready. They could prove me wrong by hitting the target instead of screwing late chances wide of the post.

Agree, after all they are well paid, allegedly professional footballers.
Under no circumstance criticise or question their performances.

Not much of a market for them at the moment. I'd like to think there might be sometime soon, though.

To be fair, we had a lad on 19 league goals by the next January

,,,who was always going to move on to better things, whereas Podge could still be with us now, converting the chances we aren't taking..

Town always will have a problem scoring goals as any decent striker moves on. Things won't change unless/until we get more money and more ambition
into the mainstream of the club.

I can accept us selling a star striker, but to let one walk away....beyond senseless, to my way of thinking at least. 37 goals. Think about it.

Yeah but they were all 'easy' goals- he couldn't score against decent sides. Always scores against us though.

We couldn't have kept Bogle who should now be set up for life despite not really pushing on. Amond was different, though I hear he was pushing for a move pretty much as soon as he signed. I also hear we did agree a contract with him then changed the terms of the deal.

Anyway, we have Akeem Rose who doesn't look up to it IMO, Matt Green, on his way down, couldn't get a game in the National league last season who is 33 next week despite giving his all, he is fading, 32 year old James Hanson who is arguably past his best, and 23 year old Harry Cardwell who it's fair to say hasn't set the world alight (some may be surprised he isn't a kid).

My point is signing these players are conscious decisions taken by Michael Jolley. In fairness, all are giving their all, Green and Hanson are knocking on a bit, and we haven't exactly played to Hanson's strengths, he's been carrying knocks for a while.

I have a lot of time for Akeem Rose in particular who gives everything, the jury is out on his abiity, but he isn't far away. Fortunately, we have Charles Vernam who I really think can be quality for us, he was excellent last game v the filth, it's fair to say he needs to step up now. Playing him wide won't help.

We need two new strikers, simple as that due to poor and short sighted signing policy.

I work with a bloke who supports Shamrock Rovers - and you think we've got it bad.  He said they had a lad who was having a goal drought. The coach took him aside and put him in front of goal without a keeper from 6 yards and he passed it to him for hours and the guy would smash it in the net. Then he would move him further out and do the same until he could see the net ripple from any angle.  Then he added a keeper.  He got so used to see the onion bag bulge he got back on the score sheet.

I do think Akheem Rose has got something but it needs nurturing.  At the moment, he's still a bit like "Run Forrest, run".   IMO, I don't think Hanson's heart is in it.  He looks jaded.

I saw Town forwards doing the same from 6 yards as I passed their training ground, when I came past 3hours later they were all celebrating-they had just scored their first goal
