Town unchanged again.

Looking for our first win at Gresty Road since 1990.

Quietly confident about this one.

Can't listen because I'm too cheap to buy a DAB radio or ifollow but we've had 3 shots to their 4, both had 2 on target.

Can't fault that, least we're attacking!

It's ex-Mariners day today (mind you we've had more players through the gate than fans recently) Connor Jennings for Tranmere

Pretty sure the ref just stopped the game a few seconds before the half finished. Should've at least given us that corner. Other than that, he's had a good game by my standards.

We are well in this game. We should get something out of it with luck. Thomas having a good game and you can see if we could make the chances he has the ability to score.Plenty of chances to cross end up losing the ball for no reason than pointlesss making a few more unecessary passes Lack of willingness to cross/shoot goes on, Frustrating

Players working hard and pressing well to win ball back. Cant criticise the effort

Encouraging first half. On top for the last half hour of it anyway.

Had a couple of good chances (Thomas and Hooper) and a few efforts after some good play at the top end of the pitch. We look good and composed in possession which is good to see. Clearly a team growing in confidence.

We always lose at Crewe, so wasn't expecting much to be honest. I'd say they were a bogey side, but we seem to have loads of those. Great opportunity to move up the table dashed again.

Well, we weren't going to go on a unbeaten run until the end of the season were we?, I agree it's a shame when we seemed to be on top for large spells though, and a great effort by the 469 Mariners fans again

I think we've seen enough over the last few games to suggest we should stay up, but not going to move forward much until we are more clinical and score a few more goals when on top in games

I've re-watched the first goal on ifollow a few times over and vernham is nowhere near their guy - nothing to do with the centre halves

Poor defending down the left side & chances missed - a game we could & should have got something from on the balance of play.

We was the better team upto the goal, there’s one thing and one thing only that’s costing us at the minute and that is lack of a goal scorer, we need to spend money in January on one, not a loan or a freee transfer, splash the cash and get rewarded with a goal scorer with what we have missed since Bogle and Amond. 10 goals in 15 league games is not one bit good enough.

Wasn't expecting to win this one anyway. Crewe are one of those teams we always have problems with so a team I'd expect us to drop points to. We really do struggle to score goals though, it's pretty telling that Hooper is getting praise for his defensive work and the rest of those you'd hope to be goal scorers are in single figures. If we were more deadly in front of goal we'd pick up more wins. After failing to score the pressure inevitably comes and with no cushion we lose points.

I'd have to agree with Hagrid. Only one team in it since the first substitution. If he wanted to take Hooper off why not like for like with Pringle. Moving Vernam to the left when he was supporting Thomas really well, taking players on, getting a few dangerous shots off from the edge of the box and linking with the midfield was a bit puzzling. We seemed to drop deeper from then on and gave them more space to play. First goal Hendrie follows a runner inside and Collins doesn't cover the space left which he should and Vernam doesn't track the runner that of course Hooper always does and never loses concentration. Second one Collins leaves Whitmore with two men, marks no one and RHJ drops too deep playing the scorer onside. To be fair our forwards only had half chances not gilt edged ones and got nearly all of them on target forcing their keeper to make smart saves. Similar tight game to the ones we've won and drawn recently. It was about our turn to lose a close fought one. Really good without the ball for 50 minutes, still generally pretty poor when we're in possession with the odd passage of good football. Looking like a season of workmanlike performances bringing in enough points for a lower mid-table position without fear of getting relegated..

Wrong substitution, Hooper should have stayed on. Jolley made a mistake this time. Vernam had a disappointing game today.

1st goal - Cross field pass from Crewe - vernam nowhere near his man, nothing anybody else could really do much about it

2nd goal - several players around the ball out on the left wing, Pringle makes weak as urine tackle, crewe player crosses and they score

So no covering centre half anywhere near their player when only 15 yards from goal. Ball watching, poor positional play and unbalanced covering dangerous areas but agree Vernam culpable too..

Free header in the box with Whitmore marking two. Collins has a habit of not picking up anyone. So what you're saying is, any cross should be a goal then? Agree about the weak play by Pringle though.

Even though they didn't look in too much trouble until the goal, there seemed to be a lot of moaning amongst our back four today and never looked that settled. Quicker players than the last few teams we've played and therein lies our weakness at the back..

I think he's saying in this instance the player most culpable is the one who failed to prevent the cross in the first place.

2nd goal, I guess you are correct BigDog that there is also a fault with central defenders, but I don't agree they were at all responsible for the first one.

Real shame as overall we looked the better team until the first goal.

Subs totally wrong Cook looks nothing like ready to play at tyhe moment. JJ did little again today really but taking him off and moving Vernam to the wing killed off any fluidity and creativity up front, goal 1 down to Vernam who had a good game till moved wide and then just like for like subs rather than bringing on an extra striker, 3 best crosses of the game came from Pringhle but no one really attacked them even in the last few mins

Showed we are still short of quality to be much more than strugglers, especially the lack of goalscorer. Lost to a team who will be middling at absolute best. If we want to get away from the bottom 6, we need some investment in January and 2 or 3 good players. Much better recently, but you just knew that once we'd gone one and then two down, we were dead.

Really need a striker who can hit the onion bag. Our defence looks too vulnerable to hold any half decent side at bay for 90 minutes.

When Hooper left the field , the space allowed down our left was criminal....

A poor substitution... I don't see the need to alter a side that's holding its own
and playing well... it all went downhill after that change... dropped far too deep
and goals against were simply a matter of time...  disappointing....

We're improving when we haven't got the ball but look so unbalanced and ponderous when we've got it. Looked shaky and uncertain at the back at times today and hoping my gut feeling isn't wrong about the next couple of games. Some old habits creeping in there.

It's like MJ is halfway through putting a jigsaw puzzle together, and when he finally gets near the end, he'll find out there's a couple of pieces missing..

I'd like to see Pringle pair up with Hendrie on the left and Famewo get a run at centre half at some time, but I don't think it will happen..

I think 4 clean sheets from 5 would suggest that Collins & Whitmore have a few games still to run, I’m sure you’ll agree a settled CB partnership is a great foundation for pushing on.

You may be guilty of other thinking things but based upon today’s and previous games subs  your not the only one.

We’re 19th which I don’t like, though when you think of the stupidity that has gone on since coming up and for numerous reasons the clubs above us this is about where we are at the moment.

Hooper was having a poor game and no surprise to see him taken off but a barmy decision to put Vernam out wide who was looking tired at that point.

We could really do with a proper wide man out there.

2nd game in a row that Cook has been brought on and not offered anything.

Strange how we see games differently. Hopper was holding his own on the left side and supported Hendrie well. Vernam had a poor game and he if anyone should have been subbed. In my opinion that is. 😎

One thing is patently obvious and Jolley alludes to this in his post-match interview.

We are NOT converting chances as a team you need to at least convert at least a small percentage of these to take pressure off the defence.

Until we find a strike threat up front we will struggle and I don't just mean one man.

Thomas works his socks off but we need somebody else to chip in as well strikers work best in pairs even if one man bags most of the goals how far is Cardwell off he could be that other man?

I looked at our November fixtures and shuddered - I can see barely a point across those games until we go to Cheltenham in early December, when we'll be possibly bottom three and in a six pointer before christmas.

We've taken points from Exeter, Lincoln & MK Dons though, supposedly the best three teams in the league. I don't really think you can read all that much into the relative strengths of our upcoming opponents. It seems more to me that when we lose it's because we play badly, don't convert our chances and make individual mistakes rather than getting out performed by a stronger opponent.

I'd say 3rd game in row. Thought he was when he came on vs Exeter too.

Seems to take a while to get up to the pace of the game and doesn't "make it stick" enough until he's settled into it (which yesterday was too late as the game was over by then).

Some players are like that aren't they, struggle to impact games as a sub. Other players are the opposite and suit coming off the bench for 20mins at the end. Having said that, he's going to struggle to get his starting place back if he can't make an impact when he comes on.

We've recently taken 4 points from the teams in 3rd and 5th; I'm hopeful we'll get something (other than a hammering!) against the sides 1 place above and below us.

Cannot think why anyone would think that tbh?
Crawley are 22nd in the away form table & Northampton’s home form is in the bottom half. Tranmeres away form isn’t startling either.
