Just shows the gulf between the highest level and the muppets we get week in week out.

Thought he was the same for both sides, consistent and let the game flow without too many whistles also I think he got that it was a 4th division game and reffed it accordingly.

Not sure about the 6 minutes injury time but I guess it added to the drama and noise.

I've got to be honest and thought that the penalty call was soft at the time (as much as I was grateful for it!) but having seen it on the highlights it was a very good call by a very good Ref. Shame that we'll be back to the normal (abysmal) standard next week.

If it didn't hit his arm (I think it did) it wasn't for want of trying. Nice to see cheating not prosper.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Not an opinion shared by Jack Lester!

Ironic isn't it, I wonder how many penalties Jack managed to con with his diving during his career?

Sorry to say it as he was a fair player for us but I don’t like Jack Lester

I'm old enough to see Jack Lester come through as a kid at BP. Never a natural goalscorer in my opinion at the time, never really became one, was a snake as a player, loved him when he partnered Clive, but he's a cheat as a manager, was a cheat as a player and balderdash to him. UTM.

Bit harsh why is he a cheat as a manager, can’t remember him playing too many games with Super Clive or ones that made an impact on the memory banks🤔

Interesting that we got a Premier League "Elite" referee. Maybe the powers that be at the FA and EFL are with us - for some reason, they don't want us to go back down. Yes, Mr Madeley was very good, and most of his decisions were spot on, but a lot of those decisions were ones he doesn't make in the PL.

I could make similar observations about the referee in the Cardiff v Wolves game on Friday. Either Mike Dean was under orders to help Cardiff not to lose, or he is totally both unfit and incompetent.

Finally have a look at the performance of Atkinson in the Mancs derby - he obviously had instructions at half time, because in the 2nd period he gave United everything and City nothing.

Lets hope we can have Bobby again next week though

If you think that refs act under instructions to favor one team ahead of another you need to give your head a wobble. I do reckon though that some can be influenced though usually by players, coaches and managers chatting in their ears from as soon as they arrive.

What's the chances of us having a premiership referee on Saturday against Barnet? Maybe not premiership again but probably a top end EFL ref? Still a relegation 6 pointer so a strong ref is needed.

We'll get Ross Joyce.
