I feel a bit sorry for Cardwell, as in short times when I have seen him he looks to have something about him and can finish. I would have given him a chance recently. Slade brought him in but obviously doesn't think he is worth a place. He is 21 and a former Scottish U21 player. What is the point?

He needed to bring forward players in but the point that Slade has built a very, very large squad which is very low on quality seems a pretty fair one to me.
Absolutely. These signings just push the contracted players further down the pecking order, and they seem more of a waste of budget with every passing week. The fact he gave some of them 2 year deals is baffling.

Loads of strikers but no proven goal scorers yet........ Lets hope the latest additions turn things round.

Given how few goals we score the word 'strikers' is a bit of an overstatement for most of them.

Got to feel for Cardwell he could do a very good job with the right coaching and club. Jones has proved he can score goals as he did last season this season has been very disappointing for both us and Sam in particular. To my mind he is a striker and with better service would be a good one. Vernon tries but lack of pace and the ability to win the ball in the air I can only see his career going downwards. Hooper offers nothing sorry but I have only seen him once looking like a striker. Asante came here with hope of being an Omar Bogle type player but have yet to even see him. Veneran looks keen and sharp but even if the new lad and he are a hit in front of goal what future have GTFC got with them? It may help secure survival and Slade's immediate future but nothing more.

Jones is a midfielder, Matt is a decent hold up man, Vernum has started well as we home this new kid does. Vernon is a player on the way down and not Slade’s fault.
However it’s criminal that Slade signed the garbage Hooper and Cardwell after spending so much time looking at them. Throw in his treatment of Asante and you can look where most of the blame lies
Then why does RS persist in using him as a striker? I can understand why Bignot did because he was experimenting with players in different positions but surely Slade should go back to basics with his squad.

I heard on the grapevine that RS isn't a big fan of Jones and seeing Jones' reaction at times he has been substituted I think that feeling may be mutual.
This frustrates the life out of me. We pay fees for young-ish players from non- league who are clearly more than capable (this includes Osborne btw) and with a bit of coaching and game time could become top players for the club and even bring in a transfer fee later down the line. Yet a year later the club are prepared to let them go because the current cretin of a manager doesn’t fancy them. It’s obvious this lad has ability. It’s obvious this lad could be a good player for this club, but for some reason we seem happy to let him leave, whilst wage-thieves like Kelly and Hooper stay at the club because this clown of a manager signed them! The quicker Slade goes the better. Should never have been reappointed. Slade Out!

Not sure Jones is a midfielder to be honest.
I think that quote about him being an attacking midfielder was based around him playing as one of the 3 attacking players in a 4231 when he was at Gateshead.
I really couldn't see him playing midfield in a 442.
When you score 7 in 16 (I think) playing as a striker in your first half season, you can be classed as a striker for me.

Wouldn't be too bothered if Vernon was offloaded. 4 goals in 2 years is shocking (for a striker)
At the Colchester game even one of the stewards said he was glad they'd gotten rid of him as he was sh1te for them
