Not sure if I am reading two much into this, or if I am adding 2+2 up to 5. But I cannot imagine that transfer activity on a given day is usually sanctioned around a board meeting. I would imagine that any board discussions regarding regarding expenditure in the January transfer window, would have been likely to have taken place in December.

I might be wrong though.

So I wonder if today's board meeting is an ordinary scheduled board meeting, or if it is a meeting to discuss the future of Russell Slade and Wilco?

Do boards not meet regularly anyway? I don’t know much about business but surely they would meet after a home game to discuss the financial aspects of how the previous match went?

Slade mentioned in either his pre-match or post-match interview (cant remember which) that "we have a board meeting on Monday" so it was always planned anyway it's not an emergency meeting that's been called like some are making out.

What, you genuinely think that I have some sort of connection to the board or to John Fenty? That is hilarious

Slade and Wilco going nowhere, board and managers appreciate fans concern and are acting accordingly. Signings to be made this month to correct the situation and Russell is striving to get players who are not playing out on lone to help their playing future and the clubs finances.
The board of directors and managers still have the playoffs as their number one target.

It’s the first working Monday of the month so surely this is just a normal meeting. The agenda however, might not be.

Looks like a scheduled event to me but matters for discussion can change from day to day. The recent form and drop in attendances has to be addressed quickly. I don't think Slade will be losing his job, but he needs to be getting asked some serious questions as to why we can't compete on the pitch with Accrington and Morecambe.

I think both Slade and Wilkinson need to be addressing the attitude of the players during the match.
They might well be working hard in training but the proof of the pudding is during a game.  I wasn't there on Saturday, but those who I have spoken to seem to think there is not much of a positive effort going on.  I don't care if the players don't like their roll or how they are told to play, (even though I probably agree with them).  They should be giving 100% at all times.  I personally don't buy this 'we only want players who will play for the sirt' attitude.  If they don't actually come from round here why would they.  What they should be doing, however, is playing for personal pride and that in itself should be 100%.  If the board have decided that RS and PW are to continue, it's no good just giving them a couple of quid to bring in one or two mediocre players.  They need to address why the ones we have are underperforming.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I don't get the impression that the players are not trying. Body language to me says lack of confidence is prevalent at the moment. It happens to the best of teams but needs to be addressed somehow.

As I've said previously they won't get rid of Slade unless we fall into relegation bother. They will have to pay compensation. Im pretty certain they wouldn't fire a manager after getting in two loans.

I wouldn't mind betting that one of the issues will be resolving some of the departures.

If JO is going back to Solihull then the Board will have to approve the terms given that we paid money for him to come and everyone would like him to stay.

Chris Clements will be another problem - I wouldn't mind betting that Barrow weren't prepared to keep him on the money he is on here, so they will probably have said "we''ll only take him if you pay a %age of his wages". Clements will no doubt say that he has a contract and he wants to  see that honoured.

Asante - well we'd all like to know what's going on there.

And possibly Scunthorpe are interested in Sam Jones so maybe there's an offer on the table?

Given that we know the budget is tight presumably some people will have to be off-loaded or sent out on loan in order to enable new people to be brought in. The lad from Derby won't be on peanuts either.

Quite possibly discussing an offer for Dembele and should they cash in now which could fund Slade with a war chest?

I wouldn't want Slade spending a penny more with his track record.

Also a good possibility

I did wonder if Jones and Dembele were playing for a transfer based on recent reports?

I was there and "lack of effort" wasn't a problem. Basically no-one wants to shoot. Players get caught in two minds about which pass to play and get closed down but the effort was there in my view.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

I heard earlier the first Monday of the New Year is the day when there are more divorces filed than any other time.... seems like JF & RS have decided to give it one more try before they part ways

I wouldn't trust Slade to buy a blanket chest from a charity shop. He would probably end up buying one that he had owned before.
