Well that's a lovely welcome back i must say. It was reported that he had some personal problems, so can't we just cut him some slack? He was decent for us last season i thought.

What a lovely way to talk about one of our players. Lost a parent and lost his way a bit. Grief hits everyone in a different way. Hopefully he can get himself sorted whether here or elsewhere.

For Christ sake, problems at the top, out manager and some of our fans! Deplorable original post. To be quite honest if any of our players were to read social media (which I hope they don’t) and any players thinking they might want to come here why the hell would they? FB at the moment is totally over the top, post like these are becoming to often, abuse is not called for. I wish people would give it a rest ffs.

That's completely unfair, I also liked him. He was talented, put in a shift and enjoyable to watch. As Clarky says, it's no wonder that players get disenchanted with our club when people make comments like that.  Welcome back, Chris.

Horrible post but well done to the admin for not removing, we need to see posts of this nature as it's the best way of weeding out the negativity.

I don`t understand posts having a pop at players especially those who have been away like Clements.Summerfield has proven what can happen if you go away and come back with a change of attitude hopefully Clements will take a leaf out of his book knuckle down and prove the critics wrong.C`mon Chris earn the stripes

No, your point is to troll.  And unfortunately it has worked.  Please will everyone let this be the last post on this thread.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Is that really fair? If you read this thread you'll see one silly post and everybody else being pretty reasonable. It's surely a minority. I see some really silly things being said about players, but I also see some well reasoned and warranted criticism of the people who run the club.

Well I shouldn't need to spell it out but I'm only talking about the original post which I thought might be pretty obvious but I'm sick of reading counter-productive uninformed crap. Getting at the manager via the players is a p1ss poor tactic. Only on Monday there were certain elements who appear to have decided (on the basis of one mistake) that our only fit goalkeeper isn't good enough. No explanation, no evidence -nothing. I hope he has the good sense to give The Fishy a wide berth. I get there is unrest and a great deal of unhappiness with the way the club is being run and the football being played but as far as the former is concerned nothing new has been said for weeks. I might be unrealistic but I come on here looking for interesting debate about most things GTFC related. I'm merely exercising a right to say that in my view the standard has deteriorated beyond belief over the last few weeks..

Absolutely right on the button barra. I am also fed up about the ill-informed and defamatory nonsense that appears on this site. The fishy is however much like the dross on other fans forums, although there seems to be more of it on the fishy. It is a problem with society at large, so I suppose that we will have to endure reading the rubbish for some time yet, or chose to walk away and ignore the site.

Not the only place standards are deteriorating - point is that it's not the players' fault that there's unrest. I think Clem's OK and the few players that I would question appear to not want to be here. The discontent is being caused by the 'we're right, you're wrong' mentality of the men upstairs - let's not forget that we were doing OK on the pitch a month ago.

To prove your point how many posts attack clem and how many are saying that the title and nature of abuse is completely unwarranted and unfair.

Clement could be that creative spark we need in midfield. He really impressed me last season and only wish we could play him, Osbourne and Summerfield/Rose in a midfield three.

Re. the original post.
I am encouraged by the overwhelming majority of responses. They affirm a good degree of commonsense
out there which tends to be what I encounter at games.
Sometimes The Fishy does make me wonder where the middle ground lies. I am totally in favour of people airing heartfelt opinions and it is obvious much is generated through incredible frustration, hurt and fear for the future. But some of the humour (sometimes taken the wrong way and sometimes mistakenly misdirected) and some of the personal comments only fuel the negativity, which we all want to dispel......It’s only how the negativity is dispelled that is up for discussion.
Incidentally, l thought Clements was half decent. He deserves a break. He owes the club for their patience and
understanding. If he works out it would be like a new signing that will cost nothing and not take funds that could be
spent elsewhere. If he doesn’t want to play for The Mighty Mariners his problem and goodbye——all common sense.

Hmmm. I wonder if his return (providing he is anything like fit) might let us play a midfield 3 or try 2 holding midfielders once again?

Let's face it, we're not offering much of a threat with 4-4-2 at present so perhaps time to have another try with something different?

Completely agree that getting at the players is out of order. There most be 1000's of Town fans on Twitter, Facebook and here combined and it's a tiny minority that slag the players or try to contact them to give them shite. I'm fed up of the hysteria surrounding managers and players on here. Some people think after a couple of wins we are winning the league and after a couple of losses we need to sack the manager.
Is the fishy worse than it used to be?
I've been on here a long time and don't remember a golden age were people didn't say silly things. I remember it being less regulated, I remember homophobia and racism. I remember lots of debate and disagreement. I think a few people didn't sign back up after it closed and others have moved to Twitter. I don't really think the content is any worse though.

I've never seen anyone with 100 red crosses The Grim Reaper could well do it.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Clements has more goals in 16 appearances than Berrett and Summerfield have in 37 combined.

Thought Clements was one of our better players to be honest but having said that Summerfield as made that spot his own and is by far our most consistent player.

What a pathetic post.

Whether it's Clements, Jones, Killip or whoever this is not the time to have a pop at individual players, especially ones that have clearly gone through a tough time.

Truly awfull thread and rightly condemed.

Clearly this season hasn't gone well for him, he's bound to know that and will want to do better, and judging by last season he can do better.

It’s not the thread Swans. It’s the OP. 95% of the thread is alright.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Pretty sure the Barrow manager is a tool and been known to fall out with players in the past like a lot of other managers, clements was playing till they changed manager to Pennock.
Hope he comes back and proves the OP to be a tool

Quoted from Grantley

Clements has more goals in 16 appearances than Berrett and Summerfield have in 37 combined.

And Clements has made 7 appearances in 3 months for a conference bottom feeder whilst summerfield has been our most consistent player
