So , on the assumption that we should have got points against " lower " opposition , knowing that an odd game would have been lost . How many points should we have  ?   I think we should have at least another 8  . Games that we should have , and would have , if only  someone could have .

Maybe yeah. Obviously, as you say, you're always going to lose or draw the odd game that you don't deserve to, or a piece of controversy robs you and such like, but it's the 'non performances' that have cost us. The repeated, similar and not 'one-off' non-performances. Indeed, there's another half a dozen points or so that we've squandered.

Yes maybe 8 but how many games have we got points when we may not have expected them? I'd say maybe 8 so we are where we are.

Yeah, fair point. I suppose the subtext is, across all those games, there have been lots of matches where we just haven't played like a team with genuine promotion credentials.

The way I see it is that we will still be in a play off position on Saturday. Only three teams can catch us on points, however we have a better goal difference than two of them.(Halifax and Gateshead). Eastleigh have three games in hand, they could go  2nd !! And only 4 points off the leaders!

Another way of looking at the situation is how many more goals in significant games would have got us points ?? - one more goal in each of the drawn games = 10 extra points on the board, so although the "goals against" is looking ok at present, the "goals for" could be improved with significant resulting points on the table.

Several wasted chances against Woking being the recent example of dominating play but not making it count, going behind and then scrambling for a draw !!

Sooo.......4th now....with two more teams able to pull level on points if they win their games in hand......and Woking able to put 4 points between us and 2nd place if they win their game in hand...
December will be a very interesting month, lose a couple and we could be 10th...winning games this month is now more of keeping in with the pack and hanging onto the shirt tails of Barnet rather than reeling them in and overtaking them.
A strong December is essential.

No it isnt, we dont need to win any matches, Paul said so.

However you look at the "if they do this, if they win that" business, Barnet are sitting up the top there letting the rest of the substandards get on with it.

That's where I want Town to be, not pillocking about scraping into 5th place. It is not good enough and there are no valid excuses.

Well perhaps our position in the table will concentrate minds on the essentials for success, which is the need for another quality striker at least,  and a more positive management after match speak
